As Michelle got up from the bed to freshen up, she felt eyes on her. She quickly looked at the door that had now closed, and no one was there. If only Rodriguez was standing there, and she could hold him one more time... she shook her head to get rid of that thought.
She went into the bathroom and filled the tub with warm water to relax her nerves. She then grabbed a towel and got undressed, submerged herself into the water, after adding a few drops of lavender oil.
She let the water envelope her in a hug and wash away the smell of the forest and the clinic. She closed her eyes, focusing on the aroma of the lavender and the way it relaxed her tensed muscles.
After she was satisfied with the bath, she got out and opened the shower only to realize that she should have showered first before jumping into the bath.
After showering, she wrapped herself into a towel and walked out, only to see that the room was still empty. Arya hadn't returned.
She got dressed quickly and sat on the chair, near the window, drying her hair.
Her mind kept racing back to Arya... was she alright?
Had Rodriguez accepted that Arya is helping her, or has he refused?
Is Arya in trouble for helping her?
What if Rodriguez kicks Arya out of his pack for helping her, a traitor?
These questions kept circulating in her mind. She didn't want Arya to get in any sort of trouble for helping her, but it was Arya who suggested that she'll talk to Rodriguez, and hopefully, he would understand her.
Michelle came into this pack as a mole, working for Alfa, to help him get back his mate, Arya, and now that same girl she had come here to send off is helping her reunite with her mate! Oh, the irony.
Arya was the first ever person to suspect that Michelle is not who she seems to be, and now, she is helping her to become who she is supposed to be... it's so ironic that the person who should be much more hurt by her betrayal is the one helping her through this torment.
Alfa was right. Arya is an angle in disguise. She's the one who couldn't stand an omega getting tortured by another and made sure she received equal treatment by making Vivien her personal friend.
Arya also could not see her friend Rebecca in prison and fought tooth and nails for her release, and now, though she is still within the Moonsglow pack territory, she is free.
Despite being wolfless, she is still helping a woman who has been rejected by her own kind for being a traitor!
How can she ever repay her?
She sat in front of the dresser and began combing her hair. She stared at her green eyes, the same eyes because of which she received her name, and she felt both happiness and sadness creep in her heart.
Michelle could remember the fragments of her parents' memories... they also had green eyes, and her mother used to sing to her every day.
She still remembered that fateful day so clearly ...
It was in the middle of the night when Sebastián and Renée heard noise outside of their pack house. Something was not right.
They then heard their alphas mindlink, 'We are under attack. I need every warrior available to gather around and prepare for a fight. Protect our mates and pups.'
Sebastián quickly picked up their pup, who was still fast asleep, and ledhis mate out through the back door and towards the forest behind the Wolfpaw pack.
As they ran, they heard growls, and the stench of blood and sweat spread through the air. Fear gripped them as they heard more and more of their men fall.
They both found other moms who were running away trying to save their pups and hoping that their mates would live to find them later.
Mother's began falling in pain and gripping their chest as they felt their mate bond break. This meant that their mates did not make it out alive.
As more moms fell in pain, they drew more attention to themselves; hence, the enemy pack members were soon chasing them.
Renée and Sebastián somehow managed to get to the edge of the forest, but before they could cross the border, they felt the pack bond break. Their alpha was no more, and now, they were technically rogues.
That also meant that they were fair game for any pack to kill.
"We cannot let Michelle die. She's our only pup, Sebastián!" Renée said, fear in her voice.
"Mama?" Came a sleepy voice. "Why does my chest hurt?"
"Michelle, honey, it's alright. Papa and I were playing a game," Renée replied, staring into her deep green eyes.
Though a pup, Michelle could also feel the pack bond break. And they could sense the stench of a rogue covering their body.
"Mama, why do I smell funny?" The little girl asked.
"We haven't bathed, sweetheart. Now rest. I'll go get something to eat," Sebastián said, giving his mate a reassuring nod.
As he turned to leave, a huge wolf jumped in front of him. Instinctively, Sebastián also turned into his wolf form, while Renée hugged their pup protectively.
The green-eyed wolf and the brown eyed wolf encircled each other. "You're from the Wolfpaw pack... or was from the pack, if I'm not wrong. Now you're nothing more than a rogue!" The enemy wolf laughed. "Give you're woman and child up, and my Alpha might just spare your life!"
"I would rather die than yield!"
"So be it."
They jumped at each other and and Michelle gave out a cry as she saw her father fighting another scary wolf.
At first, Sebastián had the upper hand, and he even managed to wound the enemy wolf by striking him in his face, leaving him blinded from one eye.
This only infuriated him, and he jumped toward Renée, but Sebastián was able to jump in front of him, preventing harm to his family, but getting bitten in his neck, making it impossible for him to break through.
Unable to see her mate in such a position, Renée jumped up, and sprung at the enemy, just as Sebastián took his last breath, and the mate bond breaking caused Renée to coil in pain mid-air.
The enemy wolf took advantage of this and attacked her, easily killing her, before turning his attention to the unprotected pup.
Michelle screamed in terror, just as the brown eyed wolf took position to jump, but before he did, a young pup, around eight, ran in front of him, saving her.
Michelle passed out at that moment, and she was later told about how the boy, Alfa Flowerew, had managed to kill the attacker and save her.
Tears rolled down her eyes as she remembered her mother's green eyes and dimpled smile. Being a wolf means having memories of your younger times, which is why she remembered all this.
The brown eyed wolf still haunts her in her nightmares, and she's glad he is dead.
"I miss you, Mama, Papa..." she whispered.
