It was a typical sunny day on the home planet of the Scavenger Guild—or rather, what had once been the Scavenger Guild. Four months ago, the faction had entered a new era, adopting a new identity: The Crimson Brood Faction.
The name itself was simple, but it carried personal meaning. Quinn had chosen it based on his own circumstances and the emotions he felt at the time. Crimson represented his vampiric state, while Brood referred to a dragon's hatchlings. Though the name lacked grandeur, it perfectly reflected what he had become. Dan had simply agreed, and with that, the faction embraced its new beginning.
Their sigil changed as well. Gone were the three claw marks slashed across a skull. In its place stood the head of a fierce dragon enclosed within a circular tail. Massive wings spread outward from both sides of the emblem, while two long fangs extended beneath the circle, completing the symbol of their reborn faction.
Over the following four months, Quinn and his party learned to fight alongside the other adventurers of the faction. Starting from F Rank, they steadily climbed through the ranks by hunting the monsters and beasts that roamed the planet. Everyone except Quinn eventually reached B Rank. Quinn himself had already risen to A Rank.
As for his System, it no longer granted him any experience for killing beasts and nor did the system considered any monster to be powerful enough to be given a quest for. He had already reached his level cap.
The reason traced back to the day Quinn handed Logan the Vampire Book. During Logan's intervention, the book had been tampered with, and one of the consequences was the corruption of Quinn's System. The carefully designed training program, which was meant to strengthen him gradually through levels, was destroyed. Instead of progressing step by step, Quinn was forcibly transformed, skipping every stage and thrusting directly toward the strength of a Vampire Lord.
The System had originally limited his growth for a reason. It ensured his human body adapted little by little so it wouldn't burst apart under the overwhelming concentration of vampiric power or any energy for that matter.
That fate would have claimed Quinn... had he not undergone the Draconic Evolution.
The Draconic Evolution reshaped his body into one capable of enduring draconic abilities and their immense power. Ironically, it was also the very reason he failed to become a true vampire.
Dragons were creatures of myth, beings powerful enough to rival even the Gods. Much about them remained unknown, but one truth could be inferred: dragons possessed something within themselves that allowed them to store unimaginable amounts of power while constantly adapting and mutating to suit their needs.
It was this mysterious draconic trait that interfered with Quinn's vampire transformation, causing the ritual to fail midway.
As a result, Quinn became something neither race had ever seen.
He was not a true vampire.
Nor was he a true dragon hatchling.
Ordinary vampires developed an overwhelming thirst for blood, especially newly turned ones who needed to feed regularly to survive. Quinn, however, felt no bloodlust whatsoever. In fact, during the entire four months since his transformation, he had never once consumed blood.
His Mana Blood ability simply converted mana—or any blood he came into contact with—into the blood his body required.
Likewise, vampires feared sunlight above all else. The sun was their natural enemy, capable of reducing them to ashes. Quinn, however, suffered no such weakness. He could walk beneath the sun whenever he wished without experiencing the slightest discomfort.
But the failed mutation had left its own scars.
His body existed in an incomplete state, belonging neither to humanity, vampirism, nor dragonkind. Tough crimson scales had appeared in irregular patches across parts of his body. His eyes no longer matched—one glowed a deep crimson while the other burned with a golden-yellow light.
Those were merely the visible changes.
During countless battles over the past four months, Quinn discovered something even more troubling. Whenever he used his vampiric blood techniques—Blood Swipe, Blood Spray, Blood Hammer, and others—intense pain surged throughout his body. His blood aura became unstable, the crimson scales spread faded out around the edges, and his attributes of fire, water etc. noticeably weakened.
Eventually, Quinn abandoned the use of nearly all of his vampiric powers.
For his current fighting style, He relied almost entirely on his overwhelming physical prowess. His strength, speed, stamina, endurance, and durability had all reached extraordinary levels, placing him among the strongest peak humans and even rivaling many Vampire Leaders.
To compensate for his weakened attributes, Quinn simply consumed twice as much mana. Thanks to his enormous mana reserves, doing so placed little strain on him.
Among all his abilities, only his draconic powers like the dragon eyes and mana blood and the charm skill derived from the vampires remained completely unaffected.
Mana Blood had now become his greatest trump card—the only skill he could trust without fear of harming himself.
Yet the greatest loss of all was something else entirely.
Quinn could not perform the Blood Ritual.
He was incapable of turning another human into a vampire.
Because of this, every member of his party remained an ordinary human without supernatural abilities. So what they did was focusing on acquiring stronger Beast Gear and better equipment to compensate for the loss of abilities.
According to the System, the only hope for quin was the Evolution quest given with question marks.
For now that was the answer but there was no intel on it.
The mysterious voice of the system was troubled for Quin aswell. And to reassure him the only advice he gave was to come across a mysterious artifact or mystical object it itself was unaware of.
For now, Quinn had only one person in mind and to meet that person, he had to go to the blade island. He was thinking about the mysterious person inside the Tablet.
The only other possibility was an even more impossible one.
Richard Eno.
The brilliant scientist responsible for countless miracles that should never have been possible.
Finding him would be like searching for a single needle buried beneath an endless mountain of hay.
And even if Quinn somehow succeeded...
He doubted that a mere human scientist could solve a problem involving dragons, vampires, and an incomplete evolution.
So before planning on their original mission of hunting down the Truedream, he had to first find a cure.
