Chapter 224 - DB-VFRBIV Chapter 218 Eyes Devoid of Spirit

Within the World of Void, everything was deathly silent.

Yet, just moments ago, a bizarre event unfolded right under Beerus's nose.

One person had split into two, and then the two became one again.

Beerus stared into the distance, his gaze fixed on the pillar of destructive energy blasted away by the Ultimate Kamehameha, before he subconsciously raised a hand and gently touched his ear.

Suddenly, a hazy fragment of a memory surged up from the depths of his mind.

He recalled the two large pendants he had just seen hanging from Truhan's ears, and a sense of familiarity mixed with strangeness crashed over him.

However, due to his long slumber, many past events had faded from his memory.

Still, scattered fragments struggled to piece themselves together, trying to awaken more forgotten recollections.

Finally, he suddenly remembered hearing Trunks and Gohan call that short fellow "Kaiōshin." As the word "Kaiōshin" surfaced, long-buried memories surged forth like a tidal wave.

In an instant, everything became crystal clear.

"Oh, so that round thing is called a Potara. I remember it has a miraculous fusion effect..." Beerus muttered to himself. "Hm. That guy is impressive, but did I really just let him leave like that?"

A trace of regret rose in Beerus's heart as he thought of this.

He felt a slight sense of loss and dissatisfaction, as if the battle had not satisfied him fully. He prepared to set out in search of Truhan.

With his decision made, Beerus stood up without hesitation, ready to depart at once. However, trapped within the boundless, illusory World of Void, he was completely lost and unable to find a way out.

Suddenly, Beerus thought of something. He suddenly roared into the empty surroundings: "Hey, Whis! Stop hiding... I know you're secretly watching everything!"

Immediately afterward, he issued an unquestionable command: "Get me out of this damn place… now!"

Sure enough, moments later, Whis's familiar, slightly teasing voice echoed in Beerus's mind. "Oh ho ho ho, Lord Beerus... the battle isn't over yet."

As Whis's words fell, a figure appeared in the pitch-black, boundless darkness without warning.

That's right...

Truhan had appeared before Beerus once again.

Beerus locked his gaze on this sudden opponent, his eyes glittering with barely concealed excitement and anticipation.

He murmured to Whis, "All right, Whis. Don't interrupt me for now. I can't wait to continue this fight."

Beerus crossed his arms over his chest and advanced toward Truhan with steady, powerful strides.

Their gazes collided.

At that very moment, all the fury burning within Truhan erupted at once.

Beerus spoke first.

"Not bad... Potara. It's been a long time since I've seen those. It seems that the Kaiōshin brat is on pretty good terms with you. I didn't expect him to hand something like that over."

Truhan sized Beerus up from head to toe. This so-called god still carried himself with the same arrogant air.

No more words were needed, as with a sharp clang, a blade of light appeared in Truhan's hand.

Whoosh!

With a casual swing, the sword energy shot straight toward Beerus.

Beerus tilted his body slightly, and the blade brushed past the side of his face.

Immediately afterward, a series of crackling sonic booms erupted from behind him.

BOOM!

The explosions echoed through the endless black night, but they lasted less than a few seconds before vanishing without a trace, clearly showing just how vast the World of Void truly was.

"Not bad..." A pleased smile spread across Beerus's face. But just as he was about to continue speaking, Truhan's body disappeared from where he stood. Beerus's brows tightened as he sensed someone appear behind him.

Bang…!

With a dull impact, their fists collided.

In an instant, magnificent ripples surged across the World of Void as waves of energy repeatedly battered the fabric of space itself.

As his fist recoiled, Truhan immediately gathered his strength. The light sword reappeared in his left hand, its gleam reflecting in Beerus's pupils.

The blade came crashing straight down toward Beerus's head.

Clang...!

A crisp, explosive sound burst from Beerus's body, and a violet aura enveloped him, forming a protective barrier that shielded him completely.

The point of impact was Beerus's arm.

Immediately, the two powers locked together, neither willing to yield an inch. The air itself shuddered in fear, releasing wave after wave of roaring sounds.

"Aahhh!"

Truhan roared, and red arcs of lightning began to dance around his body. His Boundary Breakthrough state was being pushed to its absolute limit at that moment.

Beerus's eyes widened.

He immediately increased his power output. "You Saiyans are truly extraordinarily gifted. You never cease to amaze me."

"But... what you've run into... is a god!"

In an instant, Beerus's pupils turned purple as the power of destruction surged forth once more.

Truhan poured every ounce of energy he had into his arms and retorted, "Shut up! Enough with calling yourself a god. Drop that arrogant, high-and-mighty attitude!"

Beerus smiled calmly. "A god... especially a god of destruction... is not easily achieved."

"Do you know why it's called a God of Destruction? Because such a being is the strongest in the universe."

"I admit, you Saiyans are powerful. As you are now, you've already reached the level I had before becoming a God of Destruction."

"But..."

"When I became a god, that was hundreds of millions of years ago. The gap between us is like an unbridgeable chasm."

As he said this, a playful smile spread across Beerus's face.

Truhan challenged him. "Oh? So you're saying I've already reached the level you had hundreds of millions of years ago?"

Beerus gave a slight nod in affirmation.

Truhan scoffed, "Heh. Catching up to your pre-god level with just a few decades of training? Then you, this so-called God of Destruction, are nothing special!"

At these words, Beerus frowned. He hadn't expected Truhan to be completely unmoved by his intimidation. On the contrary, his thinking was sharp and unconventional; the Saiyans' talent truly left Beerus shaken.

But what Truhan had just said made it seem as if he didn't take a God of Destruction seriously at all.

Had this guy become a bit… god-blind?

Beerus's gaze hardened as he immediately increased the output of destruction energy.

"Then, boy… are you ready to accept the grand gift I'm about to give you?"
