Chapter 77 - Chapter 51: Dead (Part 1)

Hu Xiaoyu followed Yu Tan into the villa, trying hard to keep his demeanor normal, hiding any sign of discomfort.

Uncle Hong, who hadn't been seen in a long time, came out from the kitchen on the first floor to greet them. He looked much thinner but appeared to be in good spirits.

When Hu Xiaoyu saw him, he was startled.

Looking at his face, Hu Xiaoyu immediately sensed that Uncle Hong would face a calamity within three days, even possibly losing his life.

He instinctively wanted to help Uncle Hong with a quick reading, but then remembered that today, Yu Tan's situation was the most important, so he suppressed his spiritual energy.

Yu Tan's matter was the priority.

Once that was dealt with, he could secretly help Uncle Hong later.

Yu Tan led Hu Xiaoyu upstairs, with Ajiu not following.

The second-floor terrace was beautifully arranged, with a table full of dishes from Hu Xiaoyu's favorite restaurant. At the center of the table was a cake shaped like a little fox.

The little fox cake looked lifelike, but upon closer inspection, it was somewhat rough in detail. A professional would immediately recognize that it was a beginner's work.

Yu Tan smiled when he saw Hu Xiaoyu circling the cake.

Only he knew that inside the fox's belly was a small box, and inside the box were a pair of diamond rings.

Downstairs, Uncle Hong was busy in the kitchen, occasionally coming out to bring a drink to Ajiu, who was playing a game in the living room.

Ajiu took the drink and took a sip. After a moment, he realized something was wrong and suddenly stood up.

The drink was off!

But before he could react further, his legs gave out, and he slumped back onto the sofa. His limbs felt weak, and his mouth began to tingle. He couldn't move at all.

It was a neurotoxin, one that drained strength.

Ajiu looked in disbelief at Uncle Hong, who was standing in the kitchen doorway. "You..."

He raised his eyes, glancing at the upstairs where the boss and Xiaoyu were.

He weakly opened his mouth, "Why?"

Uncle Hong walked over, picked up the phone that had fallen to the ground, and placed it back on the table. His once-lean face now had a more sinister expression. "It's because the Young Master has gone too far!"

Seeing Ajiu's bloodshot eyes, Uncle Hong took a step back and muttered, "Second Master told me everything. I also have recordings of Madam. The deaths of the Elder Master and the Second Master are all tied to the Young Master. How could he be so cruel, and now the Second Mistress's funeral was held so coldly?"

He had watched the Elder Master and the Second Master grow up, taking care of them like his own children. But now...

The Elder Master was dead, and if the Second Master didn't take revenge soon, he would likely kill himself to join the Second Mistress. The entire Yu family was falling apart, and it was all because of Yu Tan!

Ajiu struggled to ask, "Revenge?"

But Uncle Hong didn't respond. Instead, he took out his phone, made a call, and then turned off the villa's security system.

Ajiu's heart skipped a beat. The boss didn't like having too many people around, especially on such an important day, and the villa's security system was more than enough to keep them safe.

But now...

On the second-floor terrace,

Yu Tan, just like Ajiu, had been poisoned.

He glanced at the water cup he had only taken one sip from. It was prepared by Uncle Hong.

He knew that he had the habit of drinking a little purified water before meals, and aside from Ajiu and Xiaoyu, only Uncle Hong knew that.

Various thoughts swirled in his mind, but Yu Tan managed to push them away. Then, he slid off his chair, knocking over the water cup on the table.

The cup fell and shattered, shards of glass scattered at Yu Tan's side.

This was exactly what he wanted.

He grabbed a piece of the glass, the sharp pain from his palm cutting through the numbness. The bleeding pain was enough to push away some of the paralysis.

He forced himself to stand and looked in Hu Xiaoyu's direction, his gaze soft, "Don't be afraid, Xiaoyu."

As he spoke, he took the knife from the table and stabbed it into the wound in his palm, his forehead slick with cold sweat. But finally, he managed to summon enough strength to make a call for help.

Afterward, Yu Tan slowly moved to Hu Xiaoyu's side, supporting himself against the chair back to stand next to him.

His back was hunched, but his eyes remained cold and sharp, waiting for the inevitable.

Hu Xiaoyu, too, had been poisoned, but he managed to suppress the urge to use his spiritual power to counteract the poison.

This turn of events had been aimed at Yu Tan, and all he could do now was wait, waiting for the right moment to step in.

But seeing Yu Tan struggle, Hu Xiaoyu's vision blurred for a moment.

Ten minutes later, Yu Wenhe arrived on the second floor with seven or eight men.

Passing the living room, they saw Ajiu lying there like a corpse. Yu Wenhe only cast a disdainful glance at him.

Ajiu's eyes were bloodshot, and if he could move, he would have rushed to tear Yu Wenhe apart.

Yu Wenhe didn't notice Ajiu's hostile glare. He was eager to see Yu Tan, now reduced to a limp mess, groveling at his feet.

But when he stepped onto the terrace and saw Yu Tan still standing, he instinctively took a step back.

Yu Tan wasn't poisoned?

After a moment, Yu Wenhe reacted, snarling, "Struggling to survive? Grab them!"

Several men behind him lunged at Yu Tan and Hu Xiaoyu, intending to capture them. Despite the poison that was rapidly taking hold of his body, Yu Tan struggled for several more minutes.

In those few minutes, two of Yu Wenhe's men had their throats slit, and another one had an eye stabbed out.

But Yu Tan was violently overpowered and pinned to the ground. His once-immaculate clothes and appearance were now disheveled and covered in injuries.

But it didn't matter.

That brief delay gave him enough time to use outside forces to push Hu Xiaoyu into the corner of the terrace. Although his posture was awkward, he wasn't seriously injured.

Yu Wenhe hadn't expected Yu Tan to still have such lethal strength even after being poisoned.

Once Yu Tan was fully subdued, Yu Wenhe stepped forward, placing his foot on Yu Tan's head. "So, you finally have your day!"

But as soon as his foot touched Yu Tan's head, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his foot, as if he had stepped on a needle. He immediately retracted his foot.

His eyes flashed with a cold green light, and Hu Xiaoyu quickly turned his head away in hatred.

Yu Wenhe!

He wanted to kill him.

But he couldn't—fate was fixed, and changing it would only lead to an even worse situation.

Right now, protecting Yu Tan would only delay the coming calamity, but in the future, it might result in an even greater and more unpredictable crisis.

Yu Tan was pinned to the ground by several men. They were cautious, still frightened by the brutal way he had sliced throats. As they pinned his arms and pressed on his back, they used all their strength.

His face was pressed against the ground, contorted, but his eyes were still cold and sharp, like a wolf's, staring at Yu Wenhe.

"What, you don't have the courage to die, so you want to drag me down with you?"

Yu Wenhe was like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. "Shut up!"

He had originally planned to set himself on fire with his wife's ashes, but when the thick smoke and flames began to burn, he couldn't help but beg for mercy.

It hurt. It was unbearable!
