Temporarily shelving my other cases, including Lady Babbley and Lord Peter—which, for those who may be wondering, Wolf did complete his task of observing them at the synagogue before he came barging into the back rooms to find me—I began investigating Baron Gopenheimer and Bishop Bunion in earnest.
Well, investigating is a strong word, considering my lackey had pretty much all the information we needed already. And since this was technically his case, I didn't even have to pay him for his work. Which was an excellent bonus considering I had briefly put my livelihood on pause.
So with all of that settled, there was only one last thing for me to do before attending the auction.
"Why didn't you tell me there was trouble brewing at Saint Ophelia's?" I crossed my arms as I stood in the hallway leading to the back entrance of my townhome.
