THE EXTRA WHO SHOULDN'T EXISTC142 : An Attack
Chapter 142: Chapter 142 : An Attack
As Charlotte held up the syringe carefully, trying to stay focused, Alex peeked one eye open and smirked.
"What, you're only gonna wear gloves? What about the sexy nurse outfit?"
Smack!
Charlotte bonked him on the head with her knuckles, hard enough to rattle his skull.
"Just stay still or I might accidentally poke your eyeball instead."
Alex shuddered. "Y-Yes ma'am."
His grin vanished quickly. He glanced at the vials with a serious expression.
"This medicine inside the vial... it's dangerous. Don't let it touch your fingers or anything else. Got it?"
Charlotte immediately nodded, her playful air vanishing.
"Understood."
She carefully pumped the corrupted blood into the syringe, her fingers slow and deliberate. The liquid inside resisted unnaturally, pulsing like a living thing. Charlotte moved toward Alex's right arm with care.
As she held the syringe steady, Alex clamped his eyes shut.
Charlotte smirked. "Oh~? Don't tell me you're scared of shots."
Alex stammered, "Wh-What?! Who said that?! I—I, Alex Dragonheart, am not scared of anything!"
Charlotte laughed softly. "Well, looks like we've discovered something else to add to your list of phobias."
Alex's mouth twitched... but this time, he didn't respond.
'...Cute,' Charlotte thought, glancing at his clenched fists. 'Still such a child sometimes.'
With a soft breath, Charlotte pressed the needle in and injected the abyss-tainted blood into Alex's arm.
---
A moment passed.
Then two.
The room was silent except for the faint hum of machinery.
Alex slowly opened his eyes. His voice was calm but unusually serious.
"Char... it might be possible I faint in a few seconds. Or I might be in... unimaginable pain. Just make sure I'm protected. Get me to the academy safely. Please."
Charlotte's teasing expression was long gone. She met his gaze and nodded.
"Okay."
---
Alex stood, a bit unsteady, but still upright.
"I have to say goodbye to Lily. Let's go."
Charlotte opened the door. "Okay."
They made their way quickly to Lily's room. But as they reached the doorway, Charlotte immediately noticed something was wrong.
Alex's right hand.
It was trembling—violently.
She leaned close and whispered, "Alex... are you okay?"
Alex took a slow breath. "Y-Yeah. I'm per—perfectly fine."
But even his voice betrayed him. It was shaky, forced.
The door hissed open.
Inside, Ava was chatting animatedly with Lily, who was giggling and clearly enjoying the company. Seraphina was nearby, humming while setting up plates for snacks. The room radiated warmth and laughter.
Alex stepped in, forcing a smile.
He moved straight to Lily and stood beside her bed.
"Lily... good news. I just talked to Miss Emma. She said they're very close to finding a cure for your condition."
The entire room froze for a moment—then exploded with light and emotion.
Seraphina's eyes welled with tears as she pulled Lily into a tight hug.
"It'll be alright now! You'll be cured!"
Lily nodded quickly, her eyes wet with hope.
Ava wiped her eyes silently, smiling.
But Alden... Alden wasn't looking at Lily.
His eyes were fixed on Alex.
He could see it—Alex's legs and hands trembling, his breaths shallow. No one else had noticed, but Alden did. And that was enough to make his brows furrow deeply.
'What the hell kind of mess have you gotten yourself into now.'
Alden turned his gaze to Charlotte.
She looked at him, then gave a slight tilt of her head—a signal.
'We need to leave. Now.'
Alden nodded, then clapped his hands loudly.
"Looks like it's time to go, right, Alex?"
Alex straightened and nodded. "Yeah. Lily... some urgent work came up. But I promise, next time I'll bring an even bigger cake."
Lily sniffled, still smiling. "Really?"
"Really."
Seraphina stepped forward too. "And I'll bring even more sweets."
Lily giggled and held out her pinky. "Promise?"
Both Alex and Seraphina linked pinkies with her.
"I promise," Alex whispered, kissing her forehead.
Then one by one, they turned and walked out of the room, waving goodbye.
The moment the door closed behind them—
"What's wrong?!" Ava gasped, eyes wide.
Alex was on his knees.
His right hand had turned a dark, swirling black, like ink spreading through cracked glass. It pulsed with heat and power.
Charlotte pointed at him. "It's spreading. Fast."
Alden clicked his tongue. "Of course he did something stupid again. This idiot can't go a week without nearly dying."
"Alex!" Seraphina and Ava rushed to his side, faces filled with concern.
But Alex could barely stay conscious.
"Put up a barrier... and get me to the academy..."
Charlotte didn't hesitate. She raised her hand and conjured a powerful cloaking barrier around the group.
Alden and Seraphina grabbed Alex from either side.
"Let's move!"
As they exited the hospital, Draven was standing near the hovercar, casually scrolling through his EtherPad.
When he saw Alex, he panicked.
"What the hell?! He was fine before!"
Charlotte spoke fast. "I don't know! He took some weird medicine and now he's like this!"
Seraphina spun around. "What medicine?!"
Charlotte shook her head. "I don't know!"
Ava stepped forward. "We should take him back to the hospital!"
Alex suddenly raised his head.
"NO!" he yelled. "Take me... to the academy!"
Everyone froze.
Even barely conscious, his voice was firm.
Seraphina tried to protest. "But your condition—"
"Please... Sera," Alex said softly.
She hesitated... then nodded.
"Alright. Let's go."
They lifted Alex and hurried toward the hovercar.
Just as they reached the vehicle—
Crack.
Charlotte's barrier—designed to hide them from attention—shattered like fragile glass.
A shimmering dome exploded into shards of light, and in that instant, all of them went on high alert.
Weapons were drawn.
Charlotte raised her guard.
Draven stepped forward, conjuring a twin-blade spell.
Seraphina's hair lit with magic, eyes glowing.
Then—out of the shimmering mist—a figure appeared.
He stood tall and composed, wearing a sharp white coat lined with gold. His long golden hair shimmered like flowing molten metal, and his golden eyes... glowed with a terrifying depth.
Like they could see through fate itself, his sheer presence radiated power.
It was Ethan Williams.
The golden-haired heir to House Williams stood tall before them, his brows furrowed.
"What's going on?" Ethan asked, stepping forward. "Why couldn't I contact any of you?"
Then his golden eyes landed on Alex—and his breath caught.
Even though Alex was being supported by Seraphina and Alden, the change in him was undeniable. His silver hair glowed faintly. He was even taller than before now, and the sheer presence radiating from his supported form was otherworldly.
Ethan clenched his jaw.
'How the hell did he change this much?'
But he quickly snapped out of his stupor.
"What the hell happened to him?!"
Just as the question left his mouth, Alex screamed.
A raw, blood-curdling scream that shattered the tension like glass.
It echoed so loudly that everyone in a three-block radius must've heard it—if not for Charlotte's earlier barrier.
Everyone froze in horror as they saw it.
Black corruption surged up from Alex's right arm, reaching past his shoulder, creeping up his neck like a living curse.
Ava rushed forward, eyes wide and wet. "Alex?! What's happening?!"
But Alex wasn't looking at anyone.
His eyes were locked onto a glowing translucent screen in front of him.
> [Your physique is adapting to the Abyssal Corruption.]
[Progress: 8%]
His mind was on fire. Pain blazed through every nerve in his body. His ears rang, his limbs trembled, and finally—
His world went dark.
"Alex!" Charlotte shouted, reaching out.
But he was already collapsing.
Charlotte caught him just in time, laying him gently on the hovercar seat.
Seraphina's eyes trembled. "He's unconscious...!"
"Then we're taking him to the hospital!" Ethan declared, stepping forward.
"No," Charlotte said firmly, standing between him and the door.
"You can't be serious," Ethan growled. "He's dying! That corruption is—"
"He told me to take him to the academy," Charlotte said, her voice steely despite the tears forming in her eyes. "I made a promise to him. And I intend to keep it."
Ethan's jaw clenched. "You'd risk his life for a promise?!"
"I'd risk everything for it!" she snapped.
Just as the tension reached breaking point, Alden stepped forward.
"Listen to her, dude. Yeah, Alex is a psycho, but he's not an idiot. If he said take him to the academy... then there's a reason."
Seraphina nodded. "Alden's right. Let's go. Every second counts."
The air remained tense for a moment more—then Ethan sighed and stepped aside.
"...Fine."
They carried Alex carefully to Seraphina's hovercar—a sleek, enchanted luxury model fitted with both magic propulsion and defensive runes. Alex was laid down in a separate reclining seat, still unconscious, still trembling.
Everyone sat silently around him, their expressions grim.
Seraphina turned to the driver. "Let's move. Fast."
But just as the car began to activate—
Knock knock.
A soft knock echoed from the door.
The window rolled down, revealing a young man in his twenties with short dark-blond hair and a carefree grin. His presence radiated Master-(peak)-rank pressure.
"Hello, sorry to trouble you folks. My car broke down up the road," he said with a cheerful tone. "Mind giving me a lift? My girlfriend's waiting for me at the mall, just a kilometer ahead. Don't wanna be late for our date!"
Charlotte frowned. "Sorry, we're kind of busy. You can ask someone else."
She began to roll up the window.
"Wait—don't you know me?" the guy interrupted, raising a brow. "I'm Carter Brown. Rising star in the hunter world?"
'That name...' Charlotte's eyes narrowed.
"My girlfriend will kill me if I'm late," Carter added. "Please?"
Draven suddenly leaned forward. "Wait—you're the Carter Brown? The one who cleared the recent unstable rift zones?! Aren't you about to break through to Grandmaster?"
Carter grinned smugly. "Yup, that's me. Give me a ride and I'll even toss in an autograph."
Seraphina glared daggers at Draven. "You think this is the time for autographs?"
Draven immediately leaned back, hands up. "Okay, okay! Sorry!"
Ethan gave a small sigh. "A kilometer's not much. We're headed the same way anyway. Let's just take him."
"But Ethan—" Seraphina started.
He cut her off. "It won't take long. Let's go."
Seraphina sighed, rubbing her temples. "Fine. You can sit up front with the driver."
"Thanks!" Carter said. "Oh, and uh—do you mind if my manager comes with me? He's got some business at the same mall."
Seraphina stared at him.
"Fine. Just hurry up."
Carter and another man—his so-called manager—jumped into the front with the driver. The car sealed shut, and then took off toward the nearest warp gate that would send them directly to Zenith Academy.
---
Minutes passed in silence.
Alex's body continued to darken—veins pulsing black, his skin flickering with eerie light.
Ava looked toward Ethan. "What... are we supposed to do once we get to the academy?"
Ethan's voice was sharp. "We contact the Head of the Medical Staff. Immediately."
But just as the car accelerated through the urban road, nearing the warp gate—
The driver suddenly slammed the brakes.
Everyone lurched forward.
A tall, burly man stood in the middle of the road.
His face was jagged with scars. His arms bulged with muscle, and in his hands... was a massive battle axe glowing with sinister energy.
"What the hell is that?!" Seraphina shouted.
The driver honked, shouting, "MOVE!"
The man just grinned—a maniacal, bloodthirsty grin.
The moment the car got close—
The scarred man swung the axe down onto the road.
CRACK—BOOOOOOOM!
Space itself shattered as the blade struck the earth. It didn't just break the pavement—reality warped.
The air screamed as cracks of dimensional instability tore across the street.
The impact was so massive that the entire hovercar exploded in a deafening BAM!
Flames and magic clashed.
The ground split apart.
The world blinked red and black—
And everything turned to chaos.

THE EXTRA WHO SHOULDN'T EXISTC143 : The might of a Dragon
Chapter 143: Chapter 143 : The might of a Dragon
In a deep and vast forest surrounded by towering trees and dense undergrowth, silence reigned—disturbed only by the occasional groan of pain and rustle of leaves.
The air was thick with humidity and confusion. All around, several figures lay sprawled on the ground—some unconscious, others clutching their limbs, crying out as though they'd never known such agony.
Among them, a figure stirred.
Ethan Williams groaned, rubbing his aching head as he slowly sat up. His vision blurred for a second, then sharpened—and what he saw made his stomach twist.
People.
All around him.
Some groaning in pain, others motionless.
His golden eyes widened as memories came crashing down like a hammer.
'The warp gate... the scarred man... the axe strike...'
He clenched his fists.
'That space-warping slash. It tore through everything like paper. That bastard...!'
Frantically, Ethan scanned the surroundings.
"Alex? Charlotte? Alden? Where are you guys?" he muttered under his breath.
Then he paused—remembering something vital.
'Draven... He activated a shielding artifact the moment that guy swung his axe. That's probably why most of us are still alive...'
The thought sent a wave of gratitude through his heart. That artifact had absorbed the brunt of the dimensional impact, shielding them from instant death. But still... the damage was severe.
Just then, a voice rang out in the forest.
"ETHAN!"
Ethan whipped his head around and saw a familiar brown-haired boy sprinting toward him through the trees, his outfit slightly torn and dust clinging to his boots.
"Alden!" Ethan called back, relief flooding his voice.
Alden skidded to a stop beside him, panting heavily. "What the hell happened?! One moment we were heading to the academy—and the next—BOOM!"
Ethan's jaw clenched. "That scar-faced lunatic. He cracked the damn space itself... and now we're in some random forest."
Alden pulled out his EtherPad, tapping it frantically.
"...No signal. No GPS. No network. Shit."
Ethan looked over his shoulder, gaze scanning the dense foliage and broken bodies around them.
"Do you recognize this place?"
Alden shook his head. "Not even a little. We could be halfway across the continent for all I know."
'...Or in a whole different dimension,' Ethan thought grimly.
Ethan stood up fully, brushing off debris from his clothes, and muttered, "Where are the others?"
Alden's expression darkened. "I don't know. I haven't seen anyone else. It's like we got scattered by that damn explosion."
As the two scanned their surroundings again, their eyes fell on something that made them freeze.
People. Ordinary civilians.
Lying on the ground with battered limbs, many of them groaning in pain. Some looked like young teens, others like adults shielding their children.
"...They weren't with us in the car, were they?" Alden asked, his voice low.
Ethan shook his head. "No. They must've gotten caught in the blast radius."
Alden's fists tightened. "So that bastard's attack wasn't just meant for us."
'He didn't care who got hurt...'
The guilt weighed heavily on both of them.
Then, Alden looked up, determination in his voice. "Let's find the others. They could be in worse shape than us."
Ethan nodded. "Agreed. Move fast."
—
As the two searched the forest, they soon spotted a figure slumped beneath a tall oak tree, her body partially hidden by the thick brush.
"Ava!" Alden shouted, breaking into a sprint.
He dropped to his knees beside her and gently shook her shoulder.
"Ava... Ava, can you hear me?"
She didn't respond.
His heart pounded.
Alden lightly patted her cheek, trying to stir her. "Come on, wake up..."
He instinctively reached for his storage ring to pull out a water flask—but nothing happened.
"What the—?!" Alden froze.
He looked up at Ethan, panic in his eyes. "I can't access my storage ring."
Ethan's expression hardened instantly. "Neither can I."
'Artifacts... EtherPads... Storage rings... All blocked.'
A single conclusion rang clear in both their minds.
'Someone doesn't want us using our tools.'
Suddenly—
"...Stop shouting, my head hurts..." came a faint voice.
Ava stirred, her eyelids fluttering as she slowly opened her eyes.
Alden exhaled in relief. "Thank the stars... you're okay."
"Define okay you idiot," Ava muttered weakly, trying to sit up. "My back feels like it kissed a tree trunk at full speed."
Meanwhile, by the side of a gently flowing river, a different scene unfolded.
A soft groan escaped a girl's lips as she stirred awake, brushing her long blue hair out of her face.
Seraphina winced and rubbed her forehead. "Urgh... what hit me?"
"Finally awake, huh," said a voice nearby.
Seraphina turned sharply toward the sound.
Two figures stood close—one leaning against a rock with a smirk, the other sitting upright, gaze focused.
Draven and Charlotte.
"Welcome back to the land of the living," Draven said casually.
Seraphina stood up slowly, stretching her limbs and groaning. "What happened...?"
Charlotte's expression was grim. "We were attacked. That scar-faced bastard from before. He warped the space and flung us all across who-knows-where."
She glanced at Draven, her tone softer. "If it weren't for Draven activating that shielding artifact in the nick of time... we'd all be ashes right now."
Seraphina looked over at Draven, a bit surprised. "Seriously? You saved us?"
Draven shrugged, clearly in pain but trying to act cool. "Don't get too emotional. I just didn't want to die ugly."
Seraphina rolled her eyes—but smiled faintly. "Well... thanks."
Charlotte stepped closer, her brow furrowed. "Something's blocking our equipment. No EtherPads, no storage rings, no artifact function. This isn't normal."
Seraphina's eyes narrowed.
"...Then that means someone is deliberately suppressing our tech and tools. And judging by the intensity of that attack... whoever's behind this isn't just playing around."
Draven let out a low whistle. "Yay. We've officially been dumped into a death zone with no GPS, no gear, and no clue where we are."
Charlotte crossed her arms.
The sound of the river gently lapping against stones was the only comfort Seraphina felt as she rubbed her temples, still dizzy from impact. But then a sudden thought dawned on her—a jolt straight to her heart.
"Where's Alex?" she whispered, turning abruptly.
Charlotte and Draven followed her gaze.
Beneath the wide shadow of a towering tree, partially hidden in overgrowth, lay Alex—unmoving, unconscious, his body twitching slightly as though caught in a nightmare.
"There!" Draven pointed, already moving toward him.
Seraphina exhaled in relief, but her face remained pale. "He's still in pain... His body... it's reacting to the corruption."
Charlotte knelt beside him, checking his pulse and breathing. "Still stable. But we can't keep him exposed like this—not now."
Seraphina frowned. "Where are we, anyway?"
Both Charlotte and Draven shook their heads.
"No idea," Draven muttered. "Wherever we are... someone doesn't want us using EtherPads, rings, or artifacts. It's all jammed."
Then it happened.
A low hum vibrated the very air itself.
Everyone instinctively looked up.
From the gray sky above the forest canopy, the sound of a massive ship descending echoed like thunder. Its hull shimmered with ominous black markings and eerie glowing lights.
"That's not a rescue ship," Charlotte said darkly.
Draven's expression twisted. "No. Whoever that is... they're not friendly."
Figures began descending from the ship in droves—clad in armor and oozing killing intent. Most of them radiated Advance (low)-rank auras... but three figures stood at the front, masked and still, their very presence making the air itself bend.
Master (peak)-rank.
Seraphina's eyes widened in panic. "What about Alex?! We can't leave him like this!"
Charlotte gritted her teeth. "If we take him, and they detect him... he'll die before we can even blink."
"I've got it," Draven said quickly.
He pulled off one of the two silver rings on his hand and slid it onto Alex's index finger. With a flash of light, the artifact activated. Alex's body shimmered once—then vanished.
Even his aura vanished, suppressed completely.
"Impressive, right?" Draven smirked. "One of my best inventions."
Seraphina shot him a glare. "Not the time for flexing."
Still, her expression softened slightly.
'At least now... he'll be safe from detection. Even the beasts here won't sense him.'
Charlotte nodded. "Let's go."
But before they could take a step—
A blood-curdling scream echoed from deep within the forest.
Then another.
And another.
Draven froze. "...They're attacking ."
Charlotte's eyes flared. "Ethan. Alden. Ava. They might be surrounded!"
"Then let's move!" Seraphina snapped, already darting toward the source.
Meanwhile—
Ethan, Alden, and Ava stood frozen.
They had just barely helped Ava sit up when they too noticed the descending ship.
From it, dozens of Advance-ranked figures dropped like rain onto the forest floor.
And with them... came three masked figures, walking side by side with a terrifying calm.
Their presence was unnatural.
Even the forest animals had gone dead silent.
The civilians around them began to panic. Children screamed. Parents clutched them tightly, shielding their bodies with their own. A small boy tugged at his mother's sleeve.
"Mommy... who are those people?"
The mother's eyes were wet. She pulled him close. "Shh... don't look everything will be alright."
Ethan felt his heart crack.
'They were just in the wrong place... wrong time.'
Alden cursed. "We're almost surrounded. What's the plan?"
Ethan stepped forward. "We don't abandon them."
"I knew you'd say that," Alden hissed. "We're outnumbered! You, me, and Ava can fight—but that's it."
Ethan clenched his fists. "We're the only thing standing between these people and death."
A heavy silence.
Then the masked trio stepped forward.
The one in the middle—a tall woman with maroon hair and sharp, crazed eyes—smiled behind her mask.
"Looks like we struck gold," she chuckled, removing the mask.
Her face was beautiful—marred only by the unsettling excitement in her maroon eyes.
"The chosen one himself... Mr. Ethan Williams," she said sweetly. "Sephira, at your service."
She turned to the masked man beside her. "James, we found him. What do we do about the... extras?"
The gray-haired man beside her removed his mask as well, revealing sharp amber eyes and an expression as cold as winter.
"What else?" James said lazily. "Kill them all."
Sephira's face twisted into a manic grin.
"Ooooh, finally!" she squealed. "That's what I've been waiting to hear!"
She turned to the panicked civilians, licking her lips.
"I wonder what kind of scream a child makes when you crush their father in front of them?"
Her laughter rang through the air like a demon's chorus.
Ava gasped. Alden's eyes burned with fury.
Ethan took a step forward.
'...They're too strong. But if I stall them—Alden and Ava can protect the civilians.'
"Let them go," Ethan said calmly, stepping toward Sephira and James.
"I'll go with you. Just leave the others alone."
They paused.
Then the third masked figure—finally removing his helmet—revealed a man in his mid-twenties, eyes filled with disdain.
"Sorry," the man, Daniel, sneered. "They've seen our faces."
He drew a sword. "No survivors. That's the rule."
Ethan's expression darkened.
"...Then I guess we're done talking."
BOOM.
The three Master-ranked auras surged outward like a tidal wave.
The air cracked.
Reality groaned.
The trees shook violently under the pressure.
Sephira cackled. "Do you feel that? That's despair~"
"You're nothing but a glorified noble brat," Daniel mocked. "Go run back to mommy."
James snorted. "Let's finish this."
But just as they moved—
The earth itself shifted.
With a roar, a massive stone wall erupted from the ground, encasing the civilians in a thick dome of rock and mana, shielding them from the battlefield.
"Now!" Ethan barked. "Ava, Alden—take the Advance-ranks!"
"On it!" Ava shouted, activating her nature affinity.
"Don't die, idiot!" Alden added as he dashed to the left.
Ethan turned to face the Masters.
"You're going to regret this."
Sephira moved first.
With a screeching laugh, she vanished—appearing before Ethan in a blink—and slammed her fist into his face.
BOOOOOM!
Dust and wind exploded outward in a wave of force.
But when it cleared...
Her eyes widened in horror.
Black scales shimmered across Ethan's cheek.
Only a tiny bead of blood trickled down.
"...What," she whispered.
Ethan grinned.
"Is that all you've got?"
His hand shot forward—grabbed her wrist still pressed against his cheek—and with a monstrous twist—
RIIIIIP—
Her arm was torn clean from her shoulder.
Sephira screamed—a high, raw screech of pain that split the air.
Blood gushed from her wound like a fountain as she stumbled back, eyes wide, disbelief frozen on her face.
"MY ARM! MY—"
Even James and Daniel froze in shock, their expressions pale.
'He tore it off... like paper...!'
From Ethan's back, thin, black draconic wings began to emerge.
His golden hair fluttered as mana roared around him like a storm.
A voice echoed in his mind.
[My heir... show them the might of a dragon.]
Ethan's eyes glowed gold.
His power surged.
And the forest itself trembled.

THE EXTRA WHO SHOULDN'T EXISTC144 : A confession
Chapter 144: Chapter 144 : A confession
Sephira let out a piercing scream as her right arm was ripped clean from her shoulder, blood spraying like a crimson mist. She stumbled back, disbelief etched deep into her face.
"MY ARM! MY—"
The pain she was going through was unimaginable.
'Impossible...' she thought, eyes trembling. 'I'm a Master (Peak)-rank powerhouse... and he... he's just an Expert (Low)-rank! How?!'
But her shock didn't stop the pain.
With a furious snarl, she clenched her teeth, fire gathering around her left fist.
"You little freak!" she roared.
Sephira lunged and slammed her flaming punch into Ethan's chest.
BOOOOM!
The explosion sent Ethan skidding backward across the forest floor, tearing through dirt and roots before he ground to a halt.
He coughed once, a puff of smoke escaping his lips.
Sephira didn't wait.
She dashed toward the location where her arm had fallen. Time was running out.
'If I don't reattach it within seconds... it'll be gone forever!'
Her legs pumped desperately. Each second felt like an eternity.
She reached it—bloodied, twitching, still warm. As she crouched to grab it—
A shadow loomed over her.
Her breath hitched.
Ethan stood right in front of her, body still smoldering from the fire punch.
His golden eyes stared at her with cold intensity.
'How... how is he this fast?!'
His fingers curled.
With a roar, Ethan's hands turned into blazing black claws as he thrust them forward—aimed straight for her chest.
"Die."
But the blow never landed.
With a flicker of spatial energy, Sephira vanished.
SWOOSH.
She reappeared beside James—teleported at the last second.
Her legs gave out as she collapsed to the ground, clutching her shoulder and gasping.
Pure fear was painted across her face.
'I was... that close to dying... and from a kid.'
From across the field, Ethan hovered in the air—black wings spread behind him like a vengeful reaper.
He looked down at them with a confident smirk.
"What's wrong?" he said coolly. "I thought you were here to capture me?"
Sephira trembled.
"That kid... that kid is a monster!"
Even James and Daniel stood still, expressions grim.
Daniel clenched his jaw.
"You're dead meat."
He reached for his long obsidian spear.
But before he could blink—
BOOM!
Ethan vanished in a blur.
CRACK!
A brutal punch slammed into Daniel's gut, folding him over instantly.
Blood burst from his mouth as his body launched skyward like a missile.
Before he could recover, Ethan was above him.
"Try mocking me again," Ethan snarled.
Another punch—this one downward.
THOOM!
Daniel was hammered into the ground, creating a crater that shook the trees.
Dust clouded the area as Daniel's body lay sprawled, unmoving.
Sephira and James stared at Ethan, horror dawning in their eyes.
James muttered,
"...He knocked Daniel out... in two hits?"
Sephira growled, pressing her hand to her shoulder. A glowing circle of healing magic formed, halting the bleeding.
But the rage in her eyes burned hotter than ever.
Ethan landed on the ground, cracking his neck.
"What's wrong?" he taunted. "Don't tell me you're scared now. Come at me."
James and Sephira exchanged a glance. Then they both nodded.
"Together," James said coldly.
In a flash, James leapt forward—his twin daggers gleaming as space twisted around them.
He warped from one location to the next, blinking across the battlefield.
Sephira followed, a whip of crimson fire unraveling from her back. With a crack of flame, she lashed toward Ethan.
Ethan ducked—but kept his eyes locked on her shoulder.
'That arm... I'm not letting her keep it.'
He extended his hand—flames swirling.
"Burn."
A massive fireball, infused with his draconic power, exploded forward—
FWOOM!
Sephira's severed arm, still lying nearby, was instantly disintegrated into ash.
"NOOOO!" she screamed.
"That's payback."
Her rage exploded.
James and Sephira attacked in tandem—Sephira's whip slicing through trees while James blinked behind Ethan again and again, daggers slashing in a flurry.
"Too slow!" James sneered, warping again. "What happened to that earlier confidence?!"
Ethan blocked one strike—but the second dagger grazed his side, spilling blood.
Sephira's flaming whip wrapped around his ankle and yanked him down—right into James's rising knee.
CRACK!
Blood burst from Ethan's nose as the coordinated assault continued.
He grunted, spinning and slashing with a claw—but missed.
Sephira swung her whip again, catching Ethan's back, searing his flesh.
Then James warped again—this time landing both daggers deep into Ethan's side.
Schlk—
"Got you!"
Ethan howled, staggering back, blood dripping from several deep wounds.
He dropped to one knee, clutching his side, panting heavily.
'Dammit... they're fast. Coordinated. More experienced...'
His mind whirled.
'Does this mean... I'm going to lose?'
He stared down at his bloodied hand—
And smiled.
'No. I haven't even begun yet.'
Flames erupted from his wounds, swirling across his skin.
The gashes began to close rapidly—tissue regenerating as though time itself rewound.
James and Sephira froze.
"...What?" James muttered. "Just... what kind of awakening did he go through?"
"This is cheating... just what the hell kind of monster is he?" Sephira whispered. "This—this is impossible."
---
Meanwhile...
Near the earth dome protecting the civilians—
Alden and Ava stood side-by-side, facing off against fifty Advance (Low)-rank attackers.
Masked enemies snarled and crept forward, blades and mana glowing.
Alden looked around, then turned to Ava.
"Pipsqueak..." he began.
Ava raised an eyebrow.
"What?"
"I don't know if we're getting out of here alive, so let me say this—"
He took a deep breath.
"I like you. Will you go out with me?"
Ava blinked.
"You're an idiot!" she yelled. "This is not the time—!"
But the words barely left her mouth before the enemies lunged forward.
A split second before impact—
"Fire Resonance," Alden muttered.
His body ignited in crimson flame—his entire form wreathed in fire like a burning warrior.
Ava's eyes glowed bright green.
Vines burst from the earth—trees twisted and cracked open as nature answered her call.
"We'll talk about it after we get out of here alive!" she shouted.
The battlefield erupted.
Fire and nature clashed with steel and malice as Alden and Ava charged forward to protect the innocents.

THE EXTRA WHO SHOULDN'T EXISTC145 : Shattered hope
Chapter 145: Chapter 145 : Shattered hope
Alden roared as he slammed his flaming sword through the chest of yet another masked enemy, fire exploding from the wound and engulfing nearby soldiers.
The battlefield was chaos—but at the center of it all stood Alden and Ava, back-to-back, defending the earthen dome shielding the civilians.
With wild flames trailing behind every strike, Alden fought like a beast unchained.
His sword danced like a vengeful spirit, cutting down anyone foolish enough to approach.
A soldier screamed as Alden sliced across his legs and shoulder in a blur, collapsing into the burning grass.
"HAAAAA!" Alden let out a feral war cry. His aura flared wildly, fire pouring from every inch of his body.
"How I missed this feeling!" he yelled, laughter echoing through the chaos. "Ever since the entrance exam—I've wanted to take on multiple at once again!"
He was a blur, too fast to follow—cutting through four enemies in a single movement. Flames erupted around his body as if nature itself bowed to his fury.
Soldiers faltered, dread filling their eyes.
They had numbers. They had rank.
But the guy in front of them was like a ferocious beast unchained. No matter what tactics they used, he simply overpowered them with the sheer force of his attacks.
Literal and metaphorical.
"You know," Alden said with a manic grin as he carved a flaming arc through another three attackers, "I've been very frustrated lately... getting surpassed by two monster-like bastards again and again..."
He pointed his sword at the remaining enemies.
"So now—I need to vent. And lucky me, you all are just the right rank. Same as me... how perfect."
Meanwhile, Ava's nature affinity responded with grace and precision. Vines whipped across the battlefield, lashing soldiers off their feet, entangling their limbs, and hurling them into nearby trees.
"Don't let them get near the dome!" Ava shouted, her voice sharp with resolve.
Trees uprooted at her command, forming walls and shields. Flowers glowed with mana, releasing bursts of sleep pollen to disorient attackers.
Every move she made was calculated—every strike a dance of harmony and wrath.
Her coordination with Alden was flawless.
He scorched the ones she trapped.
She shielded him from the ones he missed.
But even they had limits.
As the fight continued, little by little... their breaths became heavier. Their movements less fluid.
Sweat poured down their foreheads. Cuts lined their arms. Burns, scrapes, bruises.
An arrow grazed Ava's side—she winced.
Alden's jaw tightened.
"Ava!" he barked, dashing to her side.
Before she could respond, five soldiers surged toward them.
"Back off!" Alden roared.
His sword glowed fiercely.
"Sovereign Blade – First Form: Radiant Dusk!"
A burst of flames erupted from his blade as he spun, cutting clean through the enemies in a flurry of blazing strikes.
Their bodies dropped—charred and lifeless.
Alden panted, sheathing his blade for a second.
"Tch... using sword arts against multiple opponents burns a whole lot of strength and mana..."
He glanced around.
"Still at least thirty of them are left... and we're very close to reaching our limit?!"
Then it happened.
A scream from Ava.
His eyes snapped toward her—she was barely holding her stance. Her limbs trembling. Her mana thin.
A soldier leapt toward her, blade raised high.
"NO!" Alden shouted, eyes wide. "NO, NO, NO!"
Ava's eyes met the sword, helpless.
She closed them, as if accepting her fate.
But the end she was waiting for never came.
Everything stopped as ice began spreading across the ground.
Then suddenly—the earth crackled.
The air turned frigid.
SHINK!
The soldier froze mid-strike.
Literally.
A sheet of ice spread across his body. His blade shattered in his frozen grip.
A voice, cold as death, echoed.
"Keep your filthy hands away from her."
From the trees—three figures emerged, running toward them.
Seraphina.
Charlotte.
Draven.
Alden exhaled like the weight of the world had left his shoulders.
Ava's lips trembled. She almost collapsed, tears forming in her eyes.
Seraphina rushed forward, catching her. "Ava! Are you hurt?! Let me heal you."
Ava didn't speak. She just hugged Seraphina tightly, trembling.
Seraphina's eyes turned sharp. She turned to the masked soldiers still standing.
Her voice was icy cold.
"Eternal Frost."
A pulse of freezing mana swept the battlefield.
CRACK... CRACK... SHHHHHK—!
The remaining soldiers froze on the spot—mouths open mid-scream. Arms mid-swing. Even their breath froze in place.
Then came Charlotte.
Gravity warped.
The ground beneath the frozen soldiers crumbled.
They began to compress—into dense particles of flickering light and shattered.
With a flick of her fingers, she turned frozen foes into stardust.
Draven charged next.
With twin gauntlets crackling with energy, he launched into the frozen ones Charlotte missed.
BAM. BAM. CRACK.
Heads shattered. Bodies broke apart.
Draven moved like lightning—grinning wildly. "Missed a few? Don't worry—I got it!"
In moments—the battlefield was still.
Only the breathing of the group remained.
Charlotte turned toward the earthen dome.
"What's inside that thing?"
Ava, still catching her breath, said softly, "Civilians. They were teleported with us... caught in the attack."
Seraphina blinked. "Civilians?"
Alden snorted. "Yeah. And that idiotic hero told us to protect them."
Charlotte groaned, rubbing her forehead. "Ugh... I knew he'd say something like that."
Then Alden turned to Seraphina, brows furrowed. "Wait... where's Alex?"
Seraphina paused, then answered calmly, "He's hidden away somewhere safe."
Alden's fist clenched but he just nodded his head in response.
Then they looked up.
Their gazes followed the tremors... the explosions... the flashes of black fire in the sky.
There—hovering alone.
Ethan.
Fighting two Master (Peak)-rank enemies.
And winning.
Charlotte whispered in awe, "Just how powerful... has he become?"
Draven's mouth hung open. "He's an Expert (Low)-rank. And he's beating two Master-ranks."
"The hell kind of monster is that guy?"
Only Seraphina smiled.
A small, proud smile.
For a moment—hope sparked.
They had survived.
Maybe they could escape.
Then...
WHHHHHRRRRRRRRRRRM—
The sound of machinery.
The hatch on the hovering ship cracked open again.
A deafening echo rang out.
From it—an army began to descend.
More soldiers.
Not Advance (Low)-rank...
Expert-rank.
Dozens of them.
Row after row.
The air was filled with menace and dread.
Charlotte's face paled.
Ava stumbled backward.
Alden tightened his grip on his sword.
That brief hope they felt—
Shattered.
Like glass under the weight of fate.

THE EXTRA WHO SHOULDN'T EXISTC146 : The Avatar's of an outer god.
Chapter 146: Chapter 146 : The Avatar's of an outer god.
The air shifted. A terrifying pressure pressed down on the battlefield like a divine curse. Dozens—no, nearly a hundred—Expert-rank soldiers descended in unison from the hovering warship. Their armor gleamed, their weapons hummed with dense mana, and their synchronized steps sent tremors through the earth itself.
Alden's grip on his sword tightened.
'This... this pressure. So many high-level auras all at once...'
Beside him, Charlotte's face paled. Even her usually sharp tongue fell silent for a moment as the sheer weight of the enemy numbers overwhelmed her.
Draven blinked rapidly, his previous grin from the win nowhere in sight.
Ava, already wounded, nearly stumbled as her knees buckled under the invisible weight of impending death.
Their instincts screamed one thing:
'Run.'
But none of them moved.
They couldn't.
Just a few meters behind them, nestled under a sturdy dome of hardened earth, were over a hundred terrified civilians. Ethan had cast it in haste, using a rare spell to create a temporary sanctuary. But even they knew—it wouldn't last. Not against even one of the soldiers now surrounding them, let alone an entire army.
Inside the dome, terror reigned.
A mother held her two children close, rocking them as they cried silently into her robes. An elderly man gripped his prayer beads tightly, whispering hymns to the Goddess of Light under his breath.
"We pray for deliverance... for mercy... for protection..." dozens of voices murmured together.
An adolescent boy bit his lip until it bled, his eyes darting to his unconscious younger sister lying beside him. A teenage girl sobbed, clutching a photo of her family.
Faint tremors shook the dome. The muffled echoes of battle—the clashes, the roars, the screams—all seeped into their refuge like a slow-moving storm.
Back outside, Draven broke the silence.
"...What do we do now?"
No one answered immediately.
Then, Seraphina stepped forward. Her blue hair whipped in the breeze, her icy gaze set on the enemy formation.
She took a deep breath.
"We fight."
Charlotte's head snapped toward her, disbelief written all over her face.
"Are you insane?!" she snapped. "Don't you see their numbers?! That pressure?! That's not a wall we can climb over, that's a tidal wave—we'll get flattened in an instant!"
Seraphina met her glare, unfazed.
"So you want us to run away and let those innocent people behind us die?" she asked coldly.
Charlotte's lips trembled, but her voice remained defiant. "I'm saying we think rationally! Ava is exhausted—she almost died just moments ago!" She gestured toward the brown-haired girl, who was clutching her side, blood staining her clothes. "Do you expect her to survive another battle like this?"
Seraphina faltered.
For the first time, she couldn't respond.
A heavy silence fell between them.
Then—
"...Looks like we don't have much of a choice," Alden muttered, stepping forward with a wry grin, fire already crackling in his eyes. "We're already surrounded."
The moment he said it, the soldiers finished forming a full circle around them. There was no escape. No hole in the net.
Alden clicked his tongue. "Tch. Bastards really know how to make an entrance."
Then—
WHHHHHHHHHSSSSSSHHH!
Ice erupted outward as Seraphina raised her hand. A massive frozen dome formed instantly around the earthen barrier and their small group. It shimmered with blue light, thick with mana.
She poured everything she had into it.
Her legs buckled the moment it stabilized. Seraphina collapsed to her knees, sweat dripping from her brow. Alden and Charlotte rushed to support her.
"This barrier..." she gasped. "Won't last. Two... maybe three attacks... that's all it can take."
No sooner had she said that, the soldiers surrounding them began chanting in eerie unison. The air thickened. Dark runes glowed at their feet. Mana surged.
A massive black orb materialized—dense, humming with volatile energy.
It launched forward.
BOOOOOOOM!
The first impact shook the ground like a meteor strike. Cracks spread across Seraphina's barrier. The second shot struck, and the cracks deepened—spiderwebbing all over the dome.
The third—
CRAAASH!
The barrier shattered with a resounding blast, shards of frozen mana scattering like glass.
"Agh—!" Seraphina winced, the backlash hitting her.
But before the deathblow could fall—
THUUUUUMMMMM—
A new dome snapped into place around them.
This one shimmered faintly—not with magic, but with refined technology. Glowing panels extended from a disk embedded in the ground, forming a shield with humming circuitry.
Everyone turned to Draven.
He grinned, holding up a small remote. "I built it myself. Holds against Expert-rank attacks for a while. Not forever, but it'll give us time to breathe."
"You... what?!" Charlotte and Seraphina just gawked.
Then Charlotte said, "Even top-tier companies struggle to build tech like that!"
Ava nodded with tired eyes. "You saved us again..."
Alden smirked. "You know... you're kinda awesome in your own way. You know that?"
Draven scratched the back of his head, clearly blushing. "C-C'mon guys, it's not that big of a deal."
Then Alden's smirk turned sharp. "No wonder that bastard Alex works you like a slave."
Draven's smile twitched.
---
Meanwhile
Ethan clashed against Sephira's blazing whip and James's space affinity along with his uncanny daggers.
The sky trembled with every impact.
Black and red flames crackled. Ribbons of distorted air bent space itself.
Sephira screamed as Ethan's fist slammed into her gut, sending her hurtling backward, crashing through three trees.
James came in from behind, slashing at Ethan's neck with a dagger infused with dark energy—
CLANG!
Ethan caught it between two fingers.
"Nice trick," he said, his voice unnervingly calm. "Too bad it doesn't work on me anymore."
BOOM!
His palm ignited in golden flame, sending James flying back with a sonic boom.
All the cuts on Ethan healed instantly. Bruises vanished.
Both Sephira and James lay battered, their clothes singed, blood trickling from lips and limbs.
They stared at Ethan with wide eyes.
'What... what the hell is he?' Sephira thought, horrified. 'Nothing we do works. He regenerates... almost instantly and he doesn't seem to get tired at all!'
The skies wept fire. The forest trembled.
Ethan hovered, dark wings flaring behind him, his gaze never leaving the enemy below.
But then—
WHRRRRRRRM...
From the warship's hull, dozens of Expert-ranked soldiers descended in perfect formation. Their synchronized movement made the world feel suffocating. The pressure they exuded was a choking blanket of death.
Sephira, coughing blood, grinned maniacally.
"You see that? Your doom has arrived. And soon, the Heralds will also come," she rasped, flames flickering around her charred arm. "No matter how strong you are... you're alone."
James, blood trailing from his cracked lips, chuckled beside her.
"You'll be captured again. Just like last time," he sneered. "Used. Sliced open. Dissected. You and all your little friends will also become lab rats."
They both laughed, unhinged.
Ethan's eyes narrowed, voice ice-cold. "I'm not the same as before."
He dashed forward, trying to break away and reach his friends.
But—
CLANG!
Sephira's whip coiled around his leg.
James appeared instantly, blade slashing across Ethan's path.
Ethan parried, fire erupting from his palm.
BOOM!
James was launched away—but Sephira followed with a flaming cyclone.
Ethan cut it apart mid-air, trying to bolt toward the now-exposed dome—
SHNK!
James reappeared again, a dagger grazing Ethan's cheek.
Sephira screamed and slammed down her whip, explosions crackling.
Ethan took the hits. He didn't care.
"I don't have time for you!" he growled, blasting both away with a pulse of golden fire.
He surged forward again.
But they returned. Again. And again.
'Tch—why won't they just stay down?!' Ethan thought in frustration. 'Every time I move, they're there. No matter how hard I hit them—they're like roaches!'
He knocked Sephira into the dirt with a flaming uppercut.
He broke James's arm with a brutal twist mid-parry.
But still—they rose. Blocking his path.
Then it happened.
His gaze darted past them—
And his blood froze.
The ice barrier Seraphina had cast—it shattered.
And through the smoke, a blur moved.
Fast. Silent. Deadly.
'No...'
Daniel.
The Master-rank Ethan had downed unconscious in two hits earlier.
He was running toward the civilians at full speed, eyes locked on the earthen dome.
'Not them. NOT THEM!'
Ethan let out a roar and tried to break through.
But once more—
CRACK!
James appeared, slashing through Ethan's side.
Sephira flanked him, her whip coiling like a serpent.
'Enough of this...'
Ethan gritted his teeth.
'I could've ended this ages ago... but I was holding back. I thought I didn't need it. I thought I could save it. But not anymore. Not if it means losing them...'
He closed his eyes.
And spoke.
"Let there be light. In its brilliance, I ascend beyond flesh and time—one with the eternal flame, reborn as the one true God... the Luminarch."
BOOOOOOOM—!
The skies cracked open.
Golden flames erupted behind Ethan, wings of phoenix fire stretching across the heavens. Scaled, draconic armor engulfed his body—shimmering gold over radiant muscle and celestial heat. His hair grew long, flowing like molten sunlight.
Every step shattered the earth.
Every breath pulsed with divine wrath.
He looked like an angel of judgment.
A god of war descended upon a sinful world.
James and Sephira froze, their blood running cold.
'What... is that form...?!' James thought in terror.
'W-We need to run—!' Sephira's instincts screamed.
But they couldn't move.
Because Ethan did.
In a golden blur, he was already behind them.
SHHHHNK!
James screamed as his shoulder was impaled by a golden blade.
Celestial Sunblade—a legendary weapon, once wielded by the First King of Humanity—now gleamed in Ethan's hand.
Ethan twisted the blade.
CRACK!
James's shoulder dislocated, blood spraying.
Before Sephira could react—
BANG!
A kick to her spine sent her flying through a boulder.
She crashed. Rolled.
CRACK! SHNK! BOOM!
Ethan didn't stop.
He appeared again. And again.
Every time Sephira or James tried to escape—he was already there.
Bones broke. Swords slashed.
Their screams echoed through the forest.
Their limbs twisted unnaturally. Ribs cracked. Flesh scorched.
"Didn't you want to dissect me?" Ethan whispered, voice like divine judgment. "Let's see how you like it."
He turned—eyes locking onto Daniel.
The man was just meters away from the civilians.
"Not today," Ethan growled.
He raised his hand.
"Inferno Bind!"
A golden circle expanded from his palm.
Chains of searing flame burst from the heavens, wrapping around Daniel's limbs.
"AAAAAAGHHHHH!" Daniel screamed.
The divine fire ignited his body bit by bit—burning through armor, flesh, even mana defenses.
He fell to his knees—bound. Screaming. Burning alive.
Ethan turned back to James.
He raised his blade—ready to end it.
But then—
KRRRRRRRRRRRNNNGGG—!
The ship's hull opened again.
And this time—it wasn't soldiers.
It was power.
A crushing, unnatural aura flooded the entire forest.
The skies dimmed. Birds fled. The ground itself trembled.
Even James and Sephira—bloody and broken—laughed.
"Finally..." Sephira coughed, grinning with bloodied teeth. "They're here."
Ethan froze. "Who?"
James looked up, a manic grin spreading across his fractured face. "You didn't think we'd come unprepared, did you?"
He chuckled.
"You're not the only one who's an avatar of a god."
Then—two black blurs shot out of the ship.
Moving faster than sound.
Ethan's eyes widened. 'What the—?!'
At the same time, he saw it—
The flames binding Daniel?
Breaking.
'No way. That spell shouldn't be breakable—not unless—'
A voice echoed in Ethan's mind.
[My heir. You must retreat. Immediately.]
He blinked. "What—?"
[The two approaching... are avatars of an Outer God.]
Ethan's heart pounded. "You're saying... they're blessed too?"
[Yes. And their synchronization with their divine essence is far more advanced than yours. You've only awakened recently. They... have mastered their powers.]
Ethan felt sweat trickle down his face despite his divine form.
'So that's what this is...'
He gritted his teeth as two figures stood in front of him—an aura radiating from their bodies so intense it cracked the air itself.

THE EXTRA WHO SHOULDN'T EXISTC147 : Avatars of an outer god (2)
Chapter 147: Chapter 147 : Avatars of an outer god (2)
Ethan stood firm, golden flames crackling around his body as the forest trembled beneath his feet.
In front of him stood two figures—identical in appearance and equally unsettling.
A boy and a girl, seemingly only a few years older than Ethan. Both radiated a maddening, pressure that warped the space around them. Their jet-black hair shimmered unnaturally under the flickering battlefield light, and their eyes—bottomless voids—seemed to swallow all light and warmth.
Good-looking. Ethereal. But the thing that truly chilled Ethan to the bone was the maniacal grin on both their faces. It wasn't joy.
It was hunger.
Sadistic, gleeful hunger.
'They look human... but every cell in my body is screaming otherwise.'
The girl tilted her head, a childlike pout on her lips as she glanced at her brother. Then, without warning, her expression twisted into something vile.
"Veyron, looks like Master was right," she cooed sweetly, her voice at odds with the battlefield's brutality. "This guy does look powerful."
Her eyes gleamed with twisted lust.
"But with that kind of body..." She licked her lips. "Would you mind if, after beating him half to death, I dragged him to my bedroom and had a little fun with him?"
Ethan's face contorted in revulsion.
Veyron sighed, scratching the back of his head. "You and your weird kinks with pretty guys..."
Then he turned—just slightly—toward the earthen dome sheltering Ethan's friends.
A glint sparked in his obsidian eyes.
"Oho~ Looks like there are some pretty girls too," he murmured, running his tongue along his lip. He looked back at Ethan and grinned.
"Hey. Those your friends?"
Ethan didn't answer.
"Would you mind," Veyron said coolly, "if I made some of them my whores?"
That did it.
Ethan's heart thundered in his chest. A wrath unlike anything he'd ever felt began to rise. Not fear—fury. A sun roaring to break free.
'How... dare you.'
The Celestial Sunblade flared to life in his hand, its radiant edge vibrating with divine fury.
"You talk too much."
He vanished.
CLANG!
Vyera's bow blocked the incoming slash just in time, sparks cascading across the battlefield.
Her grin widened. "Feisty~ I like that."
BOOM!
Ethan spun, his foot igniting the air as he lunged at Veyron with a flaming arc that sent the boy skidding backwards. But the twins retaliated instantly.
A barrage of arrows infused with darkness—twisting like poisoned serpents—rained down from above. Each one carried a foul energy that hissed through the air, aimed to pierce not just flesh, but soul.
Ethan's eyes narrowed.
He ducked.
Weaved.
Parried with swift, practiced slashes, his blade igniting in golden fire. Shadows grazed past his cheek, tearing through trees behind him.
Then he struck back.
With a roar, he launched upward—an uppercut cloaked in phoenix fire trailing behind his fist.
"RAAAAGHH—!"
BOOOOM!
Golden flames erupted from his core, engulfing him in divine brilliance. His wings burst outward in a radiant flare, slicing the darkness with sheer light. The battlefield ignited—trees scorched, the earth split, shadows recoiled.
Vyera shielded her face, skidding back with a laugh. "Ooh~ He's getting serious now."
Ethan didn't stop.
He surged forward, becoming a comet of flame and fury.
His blade danced, slashing through arrows mid-air, carving flaming arcs into the ground as he blitzed between the twins. His speed blurred.
He struck Vyera across the ribs—sending her crashing through a stone pillar.
Veyron retaliated from behind, but Ethan spun, wings deflecting the incoming blow before answering with a blazing roundhouse that knocked Veyron off balance.
For a heartbeat—just one—Ethan stood tall, divine flames cloaking his form, wings spread wide like a god descending.
It looked like he was winning.
But then...
They started laughing.
Still grinning.
Still unshaken.
They didn't even look fazed.
"Aww, is that all?" Vyera taunted.
Then they moved.
Together.
Perfect synchronization.
Vyera leapt back, nocking a darkness-forged arrow that shimmered with corrupted intent. Veyron's sword coiled with void energy.
They attacked in tandem—arrows raining from above, while Veyron charged from below like a reaper with a blade that split the ground.
Ethan blocked, ducked, countered. His blade screamed in protest as it clashed with shadow. He blasted forward, slamming his fist into Vyera's stomach—sending her flying.
Veyron intercepted him.
Too slow.
Ethan's palm surged with divine energy.
"Burn."
BOOOOOM!
A radiant flare exploded, swallowing both figures in blinding light. When the dust cleared, Ethan stood—barely upright, breathing ragged.
'S-So fast... too coordinated. They're reading my movements.'
He growled through clenched teeth. 'No choice. Time to go all in.'
His sword pulsed.
"Dawnbreaker Judgement—First Form: Radiant Edge."
The blade transformed.
Golden light condensed along the edge, humming with celestial power. With one step, Ethan slashed.
A brilliant arc of light tore through the forest, cleaving the battlefield in two. Trees turned to ash. The shockwave sent the twins flying—but they dodged with monstrous reflexes and landed on their feet, laughing.
Vyera twirled her bow. "Ooh~ pretty lights. Got anything stronger?"
Ethan didn't answer.
His aura blazed.
"Dawnbreaker Judgement—Seventh Form: Solar Cataclysm."
The ground quaked.
His wings stretched wide, forming a blazing halo.
A massive glyph appeared behind him—twelve radiant circles spinning together, each etched with ancient solar runes. The heavens opened above.
Veyron's smile finally faded. "Tch. Did this guy really awakened just a week ago?"
Ethan raised his sword skyward.
"Burn away, everything."
He swung.
A beam of divine sunlight, compressed into a scythe-shaped arc, slashed downward.
KA-KOOOOOM!
The explosion shook the heavens. The forest evaporated. Even space trembled as time itself bent.
When the light faded, craters stretched miles across. Everything was gone.
Everything—except them.
Ethan blinked in disbelief.
The twins stood within a spherical void barrier, untouched.
Vyera's dress was singed. Veyron's arm bled.
But they were still smiling.
"Aww~ that hurt a little," Vyera pouted. "You really are fun."
Veyron's eye twitched. "I'll admit... that stung. So now we kill you."
They raised their weapons again.
Ethan's body wavered.
He couldn't feel his legs. His divine core sputtered. His vision blurred.
"ETERNAL FEAR!"
A wave of oppressive light burst from him, aiming to shatter their minds.
It hit.
And shattered.
Vyera giggled. "You think that can work on us? We've faced horrors your mind can't even comprehend. We're blessed by Him—the darkness itself."
"Let us show you," Veyron whispered, "what real power looks like."
Their aura pulsed.
Reality warped.
THUNK!
Ethan gasped.
A black arrow pierced his chest. He tore it free—only to feel the pain spiral through his nerves.
'What...?'
Then—
It hit him.
Visions. Screams.
Not from this battle.
From the past.
The lab. The steel. The restraints.
Laughter. Pain. Torture.
"No..."
He dropped to his knees.
"I escaped that... I..."
Vyera's voice slithered into his mind.
"Amazing~ You're still trying to resist. You're perfect."
Veyron strolled toward him. "Strong body. Strong will. Let's see how long it lasts..."
More arrows formed.
The shadows on Veyron's blade pulsed.
Ethan's hands trembled.
Blood leaked from his eyes.
A voice echoed in his mind.
[My heir. Escape. Let me help you. Your life is far more valuable than your friends.]
"SHUT UP!" Ethan roared, punching the ground. "They're my friends! I won't leave them! NEVER!"
But inside—
Cracks formed.
Trauma surged like a flood.
And the twins stood before him, laughing.
"Break, little hero," Vyera whispered. "Break for us."
-------
Meanwhile
Inside the barrier constructed by Draven's tech, tremors echoed like drumbeats of doom.
Massive fireballs exploded against the dome, shaking the ground with blistering heat. Earth boulders the size of small cars slammed down like falling mountains.
Wind blades howled, slicing across the surface of the shield, and electric arcs crackled with thunderous fury. Attacks from every elemental affinity imaginable poured from the skies in a relentless storm.
The barrier flickered each time it was struck, pulsing blue as it absorbed the devastating assaults.
Charlotte flinched. "They're trying to level us before we even get a chance to fight back."
Alden gritted his teeth, sweat forming on his brow as he clutched his sword tighter. The very air inside the barrier trembled with each impact.
"How long will this thing hold, Draven?"
Draven's face was tight with tension, his hand tapping furiously on the side of a hovering console that showed the barrier's integrity in real time.
"At the rate they're hammering us... ten minutes. Maybe."
Everyone froze.
'Ten minutes? That's all we've got?' Alden's mind raced. 'We're sitting ducks in here...'
The color drained from Charlotte's face. Ava looked down, her hands shaking. Even Seraphina remained silent, her jaw clenched.
Alden broke the silence, voice low and bitter. "What the hell are we supposed to do with ten minutes? Die gracefully?"
Charlotte inhaled deeply, brushing her sweat-soaked hair from her eyes.
"We have no choice but to stall. The necklace I'm wearing... it's embedded with a tracer. If I go missing, my father will come looking for me. We just have to hold out until then."
Just as her words faded—
BOOOOOOOM.
An overwhelming pressure slammed down on them like a divine hammer.
All five of them dropped to their knees, gasping as the barrier strained under the sheer weight of the aura.
"W-What the... this pressure..." Ava whispered.
"It's like back at the academy," Draven muttered, eyes wide. "When Ethan used his Luminarch form..."
Seraphina's face turned pale. "That means... something's happened. Something bad. He only uses that when he has no other choice."
The tremors intensified—waves of mana rippling through the ground like earthquakes.
All of them turned their heads toward the battlefield in the distance.
And froze.
Two figures fought Ethan toe-to-toe, shadows and flames clashing with divine radiance. The sky crackled. The earth cracked. Trees were torn from the ground like twigs.
But Ethan—was losing.
He was breathing heavily, being pushed back with every exchange.
Alden clenched his jaw. "No... not even Ethan can win against them?"
Draven's voice cracked. "We dealt with one... and then another came... now these two... and they're worse. It never ends!"
Suddenly—
CRAAACK!
A spear—no, a javelin laced with dark energy—slammed into the barrier.
The dome flashed red.
Draven's eyes widened. "That hit... took out 30% of the remaining energy."
A moment later, three terrifying figures emerged from the smoke and light.
Daniel. Sephira. James.
Their presence alone was suffocating.
All five—Alden, Seraphina, Charlotte, Ava, and Draven—collapsed to the ground under the sheer weight of their auras.
The barrier shattered with a hiss of steam and light.
"Hah... pathetic," Daniel scoffed.
Sephira's eyes scanned them like a predator staring at cornered prey. She stepped forward and yanked Ava by her hair, forcing her to look up.
"Because of that bastard Ethan," she growled, "I lost an arm."
Ava whimpered, tears streaking down her cheeks.
"So I'll make you all scream until I feel better."
James and Daniel walked around them slowly, grinning ear to ear.
James's eyes narrowed on Seraphina and Charlotte. "Top-tier beauties, huh? Would be a waste to hand them over to the lab right away."
Daniel licked his lips, chuckling. "Yeah... why not have a little fun first?"
Charlotte's breath hitched, and Seraphina's hands trembled at her sides.
Sephira clicked her tongue. "Horny bastards."
Stepping back, she gave them a wicked grin. "Fine. Make it quick. I want my share of fun too."
James grinned. "Don't worry. We'll warm them up for you."
Both men began to step forward, eyes gleaming with twisted anticipation.
Ava burst into tears. "Please! S-Someone help us!"
Charlotte tried to move, to crawl away—but her limbs wouldn't respond. Her body was frozen in terror.
'Not like this... please, not like this...'
Seraphina just stared in wide-eyed horror.
Suddenly—
"Sir! We found another survivor!"
A soldier approached, dragging a limp figure.
"He was hiding. Looks like he used some kind of tech to cloak himself, but... his condition's weird. His skin's turning black. He's not waking up at all."
Sephira raised a brow. "Bring him here."
The soldier obeyed—tossing the body to the ground like trash.
The moment the figure hit the dirt, silver hair spilled over his shoulder.
Daniel stared down at the silver-haired boy lying limp in the dirt. His body was still—too still—but the spreading black veins beneath his skin told another story. Steam hissed off him in faint wisps, and the air around his form shimmered unnaturally.
His face, once handsome, was now disfigured by crawling corruption—inky tendrils creeping from his neck up his jaw, curling toward his left eye like cracks in porcelain.
James wrinkled his nose in disgust.
"Ugh... who the hell is this ugly guy?" he scoffed, giving his body a light kick.
Then—
The boy fingers twitched.

THE EXTRA WHO SHOULDN'T EXISTC148 : The most famous hunter
Chapter 148: Chapter 148 : The most famous hunter
James clicked his tongue as he stared down at the silver-haired boy lying still on the dirt. With a scoff, he lifted his foot and gave the boy a light kick to the ribs.
Thud.
Then another, this time harder.
Thump.
Then another. Harder. Again. And again.
Thud. Thud. Crack.
Over and over.
Charlotte's eyes widened in horror. "ALEX!" she screamed.
Ava's voice cracked. "STOP IT!"
Seraphina tried to raise her hand, her body trembling. "LEAVE HIM... ALONE!"
But none of them could take a step forward. The crushing pressure of three Master-ranked auras—James, Daniel, and Sephira—held them like insects pinned beneath a boulder. Their knees were pressed to the ground. Their limbs trembled. Breathing itself was a struggle.
And James... just kept kicking.
With a final, forceful stomp, he pulled back and muttered, "Tch. Looks like this guy's already on the verge of death."
He rolled his shoulder and looked at the limp figure, unimpressed.
Sephira snorted from nearby, arms crossed. "Then leave him. This pocket realm Master Aaron created is already fraying at the seams. Focus on the mission."
Daniel gave a casual shrug. "Works for me."
James and Daniel's gazes slid toward the three girls—Charlotte, Seraphina, and Ava—like predators eyeing fresh prey. Their smiles turned lecherous.
"So, where were we, ladies?" James said, cracking his knuckles.
"Don't worry," Daniel added, licking his lips. "We'll take real good care of you—"
BOOOOM!
The world shattered.
An explosive kick blasted into Daniel's jaw, sending him flying like a ragdoll. His body crashed through multiple trees, each one snapping like twigs under the sheer force. Debris and dust flew in every direction.
Sephira staggered backward, eyes flaring wide.
When the dust finally cleared... a lone figure stood tall before the girls.
Dark blond hair tousled. Tan coat billowing. A gleaming gauntlet on one hand pulsed with faint violet light. His posture was loose, but his aura buzzed with power.
Charlotte gasped. "That's..."
Seraphina's eyes widened in disbelief. "Carter... Brown?"
Ava blinked. "The hunter guy... who Seraphina gave a lift when we were heading toward the academy?"
Sephira snarled, her voice sharp. "Who the hell are you!?"
Carter gave her a half-smile, brushing some dust off his shoulder.
"You're seriously telling me none of you recognize the Carter Brown? C'mon, I'm kinda famous."
Daniel picked himself up, seething. Blood ran down his nose. "You bastard... You snuck up on me!"
His aura surged with fury. "I'll MURDER YOU!"
Carter smirked, but his fingers twitched slightly. 'Go ahead. Try me.'
Inside, however, Carter's thoughts were a swirling storm of panic.
'Shitshitshitshit—what the hell am I doing!? I've got a hot girlfriend, a cozy home, money in the bank, and a career that doesn't involve fighting lunatics in collapsing dimensions! I should be halfway to safety by now!'
But even as his mind screamed to run... his feet stayed planted.
'Wait... those girls—one's a princess. And the brown-haired kid's from House Crestvale. That blue-haired girl... she looked familiar too. Looks like... they're all nobles, aren't they?'
He sighed internally. 'Of course they are. Lucky me if I can get their favour—if I leave here alive, that is.'
---
Earlier...
When the teleportation storm scattered everyone into the pocket realm, Carter had landed deep within the forest. Disoriented, but not injured.
Being a Peak Master-ranked Hunter had its perks.
Navigating through wild terrain was easy. He'd done harder.
But when he spotted the massive ship hovering in the sky—followed by waves of high-ranked soldiers pouring out—Carter's instincts kicked in.
'This isn't some random invasion. This is a full-blown operation... and someone's their target.'
He slinked through the shadows, using his cloaking skill and instinct to stay hidden.
Then he saw it.
Ethan Williams. Fighting like a god.
At first, he was winning.
But as soon as the twins came, he started losing.
Carter watched in stunned silence.
'That kid... he's holding back monsters. Alone.'
Part of him wanted to help.
Most of him didn't.
'I should just wait it out... Once they're done, this place will collapse and I'll be spat back out safe. Simple. Clean.'
But then he saw it—what those other bastards were doing to the remaining group.
Alden... Charlotte... Ava... Draven... Seraphina.
They were cornered. Crushed by aura. On their knees.
And then—he heard what was about to happen to the girls.
Carter's stomach churned. His fingers clenched.
'What the hell...'
For the first time in years, he felt it.
Shame.
As an adult. As a Hunter.
'These kids... they're doing everything I should've done. Fighting. Protecting each other. Facing monsters without blinking.'
And he'd just hidden.
Coward.
So he moved.
And now—here he stood.
---
James roared in fury, dark energy flaring.
But Carter's own aura finally burst out in full force—Void Affinity crackling around him in swirling tendrils of violet and black.
Suddenly—the suffocating pressure vanished.
Charlotte gasped for air.
Seraphina nearly collapsed.
Alden looked up, wide-eyed.
Carter didn't turn to them—his gaze remained locked on the three enemies—but he bellowed over his shoulder.
"RUN! As far as you can! I don't know if I can win this, but I'll damn well make sure they don't get you!"
Alden clenched his fists, trembling.
'Why... why does this guy care...?'
But there was no time for questions.
He nodded. "Got it!"
With effort, Alden pushed himself up, body aching. He scooped Ava into his arms.
Draven crouched beside Alex, lifting his unconscious friend onto his back.
Charlotte and Seraphina moved next, supporting each other.
They turned to Carter, eyes filled with something unspoken.
Respect. Gratefulness. Guilt.
Carter didn't look back.
"Forget the civilians!" he shouted. "I'll handle them! JUST GO!"
The group turned. Ran.
Into the forest. Into the shadows.
And behind them—
Carter Brown stood alone before three Master-ranked enemies.
---
Carter stood tall, alone before the three threats.
His coat fluttered in the wind.
Sweat trickled down his temple, but his eyes gleamed with defiance.
'Okay. This is officially the stupidest thing I've ever done.'
He let out a breath and clenched his gauntlet-covered fist.
'But damn... why does this feel good?'
A crooked grin stretched across his lips, one that didn't quite reach his eyes.
'I wish the media were here to see my heroic debut. Front page: Hunter Carter Brown—The Void that Defied the Abyss. Yeah, that has a nice ring to it.'
He rolled his shoulders and cracked his neck, lifting his gaze to the trio now recovering from the earlier shock.
"So," he said casually, voice firm, "shall we get started?"
---
Daniel struck first.
A bolt of lightning exploded from his palm, arcing straight for Carter's chest.
CRACK!
Carter sidestepped with uncanny fluidity—his body vanishing for a fraction of a second before flickering back into place. The lightning slammed into the dirt behind him, shattering the earth.
James followed up immediately, teleporting with a flash of spatial energy behind Carter and swinging a blade infused with space-rending force.
Carter ducked and twisted, catching James's wrist mid-swing and slamming his elbow into his ribs with a crunch.
BAM!
James reeled back, coughing.
Then came Sephira—her remaining hand alight with molten flame. Her flaming whip lashed out, hissing through the air like a demon's tongue.
Carter raised his hand.
Void energy surged around him in a swirling pulse.
CLASH!
The whip struck an invisible shield mid-air—crackling, but not breaking through.
"Nice try," Carter muttered, his eyes glowing faintly purple.
He vanished.
BOOM!
He reappeared mid-air—above them all—and slammed his fist down, releasing a gravitational void blast that knocked the three enemies outward in different directions. Sephira crashed through a rock wall. Daniel skidded across the dirt in a tumble of sparks. James flipped mid-air and landed, gritting his teeth.
Carter landed softly, his boots cracking the ground beneath him.
His breath was already starting to hitch, and his side throbbed from Sephira's earlier attack.
But he smiled anyway.
'Keep moving. Keep pressure on them. Don't let them get past you.'
Daniel snarled and lifted his hand again—this time conjuring a spear made entirely of lightning. With a roar, he launched it.
Sephira emerged behind Carter, flames twisting into a ring of fire around them both.
James flanked from the side, warping space as he darted in like a blade on wind.
A deadly triangle.
Carter stood his ground.
The void pulsed from his body.
Time slowed for him—only slightly, but enough.
He leaned left, letting the spear graze his coat and burn his shoulder.
His leg snapped backward, kicking Sephira in the stomach and breaking her flaming barrier.
He pivoted again, caught James's sword mid-swing, and slammed his head into James's face.
CRACK!
Blood flew.
'Three against one. Even for me, this is rough.'
He winced as a flaming arrow tore across his thigh.
'But I'm not letting them through. Not a single damn one.'
---
The battle roared on.
Every time one of the enemies tried to break off toward the forest—Carter was there.
Blocking.
Interfering.
Landing brutal counterblows with perfect precision.
A wall of void energy surrounded him—part shield, part weapon. It bent around him like living armor, warping spells, redirecting flames, and resisting even space and lightning-based attacks.
Still, the toll showed.
Carter's breathing grew heavier.
Blood leaked from a cut on his temple. His left arm trembled slightly.
But he didn't stop.
He couldn't stop.
Sephira clicked her tongue, holding her burned side. "Tch. That guy's surprisingly persistent."
James spat blood and groaned. "Annoying bastard."
Daniel narrowed his eyes. "We need to find the kids. This dimension won't last much longer."
Then—Sephira's gaze flicked toward the glowing dome in the distance.
The one sheltering the civilians.
Her lips curled into a sinister smile.
"Let's distract him."
Daniel raised an eyebrow. "Huh?"
Sephira whispered just loud enough for the two to hear. "He's the type. Protecting civilians. If we hit that dome... he'll react. Use that chance to split."
James caught on instantly.
"Got it. You and I go after the brats. Daniel stalls him."
Daniel nodded. "He's already bleeding. I'll handle him."
The plan was set in motion.
Sephira and James shot toward the civilians' dome in a blur.
Carter's eyes widened.
'No—!'
He cursed and slammed his foot down.
A circular void sigil lit up beneath him, and with a flash, he conjured a curved shield over the dome—dark purple, translucent, humming with unstable power.
At the same moment—
CRASH!
Daniel struck.
Lightning wrapped around his fists, he crashed into Carter with a savage hook to the ribs.
BOOM!
Carter flew backward, tumbling into a tree. He hit hard, bark cracking behind him.
"Ghh—!"
He barely had time to get up before Daniel was on him again, launching a flurry of electrified punches.
Carter parried, blocked, deflected—but his defense faltered with each strike.
The dome pulsed behind him as Sephira's fireballs slammed into it from above. James warped closer to the edge of the woods.
Carter hissed in pain, glancing over his shoulder.
'Shit... I can't hold the shield and fight at the same time!'
Daniel smirked. "Split your focus again, and I'll break your ribs next."
Carter's hands trembled.
The void shield flickered.
His body screamed at him to stop.
But he held.
Sephira and James slipped into the trees—toward the fleeing kids.
Carter's heart dropped.
'They got past me.'
He tried to push off the ground, but Daniel slammed a lightning-charged boot into his back.
CRACK!
"Agh—!"
Blood sprayed from Carter's mouth as he hit the dirt again.
Still—he clenched his fists.
His void aura flared, and he pushed back, staggering Daniel with a pulse of gravitational force.
But it was too late.
They were already gone.
'Kids... I'm sorry.'
But even as the pain tore through him—
He got up.
He raised his fists.
"I'm still not done yet."
Meanwhile Alden and the group found them surrounded again.
