"Want me to stay away from Kurenai? Fine," Uchiha Kouki said, raising an eyebrow dismissively. "Get down on your knees and beg me."
"You're asking for a beating!" Sarutobi Asuma exploded, throwing a punch at Uchiha Kouki.
Uchiha Kouki sneered, countering with a punch of his own, as if inviting a fistfight. But the moment their fists collided, he unleashed Almighty Push.
A powerful repulsive force erupted, sending Sarutobi Asuma flying.
Bang!
Asuma crashed heavily to the ground.
Whoosh!
Uchiha Kouki used the Body Flicker Technique, appearing before the fallen Asuma, placing a foot on his chest. "Do you have what it takes?" he sneered condescendingly.
Silence. A deathly silence hung in the air. Onlookers stared, wide-eyed, at Uchiha Kouki in disbelief. An Uchiha had attacked the Hokage's son; this was a major incident.
"Kouki… when did you get so strong?" Uchiha Kouki's companions were speechless. Asuma was a jōnin; even they were no match for him. Uchiha Kouki, previously known as a genin, had apparently defeated a jōnin instantly.
"It's not that I'm strong; he's just weak," Uchiha Kouki said, his foot firmly planted on Asuma's chest.
Asuma strained to break free, but Uchiha Kouki was using Almighty Push to suppress him, making escape impossible.
"You, beneath my feet, dare to tell me to stay away from Kurenai? Don't you feel ashamed? Pathetic," Uchiha Kouki sneered, kicking Asuma twice before walking away.
"No… no…"
Asuma, half-kneeling, watched Uchiha Kouki's retreating back in disbelief. He was a jōnin; his talent surpassed most, except for geniuses like Kakashi and Shisui.
Yet, he had been utterly defeated by a lowly Uchiha genin. Asuma's morale completely crumbled.
Because of their identities, the conflict between Uchiha Kouki and Asuma spread like wildfire throughout Konoha. Within two hours, everyone knew that the "unconventional Uchiha" had beaten Asuma senseless.
The previously unassuming Uchiha Kouki instantly became a prominent figure in Konoha, especially within the Uchiha clan. He had soundly defeated the Hokage's son, bringing unexpected honor to the Uchiha.
Most of the praise came from the younger generation. Uchiha Fugaku and other high-ranking members were deeply troubled. The Uchiha already had a strained relationship with the village; this incident would only worsen it, making their situation more difficult.
Uchiha Fugaku immediately summoned Uchiha Kouki upon hearing the news.
"Kouki, you acted rashly. Villagers already have prejudices against us Uchiha; this will only worsen things," Fugaku said calmly, though clearly upset.
"If the village uses this as an excuse to further suppress the Uchiha…" Uchiha Fugaku's face showed concern.
"Clan Head, don't worry. I left no openings. Asuma attacked first; it was self-defense. Everyone saw it," Uchiha Kouki replied. "Asuma, while on duty with the Konoha Military Police, attacked a member without provocation. Even if it goes to the Third Hokage, they're in the wrong. We could even arrest Asuma based on Military Police regulations."
Uchiha Fugaku's expression improved slightly. Uchiha Kouki had left no grounds for the Third Hokage to act against the Uchiha.
However, even without overt action from Hiruzen, the rift between the Uchiha and the village deepened.
If Uchiha Kouki knew Fugaku's thoughts, he wouldn't have cared. In a few years, Konoha would attempt to exterminate the Uchiha. What difference did a little animosity make? This was why he acted so boldly against Asuma.
"Kouki, avoid further conflict with Asuma. And stay within the clan grounds to train for a while," Uchiha Fugaku said.
Uchiha Kouki understood Fugaku's concern about potential retaliation.
"Understood, Clan Head," Uchiha Kouki replied nonchalantly.
Having openly attacked Asuma, he wasn't afraid of the consequences. With his current strength, he had the arrogance to back it up. He was generally low-key to avoid trouble, not because he feared it.
Meanwhile, in the Hokage's office…
"Hokage-sama, this is what happened," a voice reported.
