Chapter 75 - Chapter 75: Morgan le Fay (4k)

There was a time when Morgan's heart was filled with resentment.

Once the noble Queen of the Fae of Avalon, Vivian, a being representing elegance and mystery, she was brought to this land as a princess of Britain under the plan and behest of the old king Uther and the great magus Merlin.

For her, it was hard to say whether this was good or bad.

Though she transformed from a spirit of the world into a human, losing something akin to freedom, she also gained something in return. For instance, her extraordinary talent and skill in magecraft, as well as the title of 'Lord of the Isle.'

With this, Morgan, born in Britain, no longer existed as the Queen of the Fae, but as the master of this island and everything on it. In other words, having made the identity of the 'Lord of the Isle' her very essence, she was destined to become the king of Britain.

This pursuit was carved into her soul. To not seek that power and the throne would be to abandon and deny herself.

And in fact, Morgan did just that. From a young age, she displayed an exceptional talent for learning. Whether it was studying state affairs, governing the country, or the so-called royal etiquette, she could perform to a level that could be called perfect.

But all the changes and resentment began one day.

After observing Morgan's growth for some time, the great sage Merlin once again sought out King Uther and told him bluntly that Morgan would not be the king who could lead Britain into the future. He even said that not only did she have no chance of becoming king, but in the future, she would become an enemy who would obstruct that perfect king.

From then on, Morgan's life and status underwent a great change.

The lessons of the past were no longer offered to her, and Uther's attitude towards her changed from encouragement and hope to suppression and distance. Though she was still a princess, at the royal court of that time, almost everyone knew she was not favored.

But why?

Why did you not see my efforts? Why did you not see the hope in my eyes? Why did you deny your own daughter, whom you had sought out, just by listening to the words of that outsider?

Weren't you the ones who summoned me from Avalon? Why did you then abandon me?

At that time, Morgan was deeply confused and extremely angry. She tried her best to do something to prove herself to Uther and Merlin. But what she got in return was the former's frown and the latter's look of amusement. In fact, after she had a big fight with King Uther over this for the first time, she earned the titles of 'witch' and 'sorceress,' and these titles were spread throughout Britain by Merlin under Uther's instruction.

So Morgan began to resent them, but even so, she did not give up on proving herself to Uther. She was the Lord of the Isle, she was Morgan le Fay Pendragon. Pursuing the kingship of Britain was her essence; she could not give up.

But Uther's attitude remained firm. And after Morgan came of age at fifteen, he even wanted to marry her off in a political alliance to his former comrade-in-arms, the pig-like King of Orkney.

And on the night she learned of this news, Morgan rejected the order with a great fire that burned the entire county of Orkney.

Although she completely solidified her reputation as a cruel and cunning witch after this, it also made Uther and Merlin realize that Morgan was no longer the powerless puppet they could manipulate.

But it was of no use. They still used the king's order to forbid Morgan from touching the power of the king.

So Morgan chose another way to try to persuade them.

Using her own blood as a medium, combined with the blessings of nature and spirits from the Isle of Britain, she created several powerful artificial infants. They were Gawain, who possessed the heat of the sun; Agravain, who had the tenacity of steel; and the siblings Gaheris and Gareth, who were blessed with magic and the spirit of a giant wolf.

She wanted to use these children with immense potential to show Uther and Merlin that if she became king, she could create one powerful warrior after another. Then, whether it was the Tyrant King Vortigern or the Roman Empire on the other side of the continent that had long coveted Britain, under the powerful 'children' she created, none of this would be a problem.

But Morgan had ultimately underestimated Uther's trust in Merlin's prophecy. Not only did he forcefully give these children, still in their swaddling clothes, to the King of Orkney as a gesture of apology to win over the powerful ruler, but he also took this opportunity to brand Morgan with the reputation of being promiscuous.

To pin such a label on a little girl who longed to prove herself to him, and who was his own daughter at that. Uther's actions were those of a complete beast, a being that even the demons of hell would despise.

And so, Morgan's disappointment and resentment towards him grew even deeper. But despite this, she still did not choose to leave Camelot. The obsession with the kingship still lingered in her heart.

This obsession was so deep that even when she later learned from Merlin that her birth was just an experiment, and that her existence was just to pave the way for that perfect king who could bear the future of Britain, she still did not leave.

But it was inevitable that the resentment and other emotions in her heart would pile up, and they were also transferred to her half-sister, who would surely compete with her for the throne.

So under these circumstances, Morgan became increasingly cold and tended towards darkness. All the resentment was accumulating and being suppressed. The final result of this would be that the surging darkness would swallow the whole of Britain and all the people of Britain, and at the same time, it would also destroy herself.

And it was in this state, where Morgan had almost succumbed to fate, that she met a water fairy.

A water fairy who hadn't fled to the Inner Sea of the Planet, but had instead come to disturb the lake of her birth, and who even carried the aura of the Red Dragon that she detested so much.

It seemed that from that moment, something had changed.

Taking him in, talking with him, keeping him company, and even offering comfort and a promise during her sad and painful moments when it was announced that whoever pulled out the Sword of Selection would be the king of Britain.

Fate is something that is born to be broken.

The so-called 'cannot,' 'unworthy,' and 'will not' were just the fate that Uther and Merlin had imposed on her.

Although the knight's curse given by Uther was nominally broken after that, on the night that curse was laid, Morgan gained her most loyal knight.

Even she herself could not have imagined that the little water fairy would miraculously break through the shackles, transforming into a clear, water-like young knight under the moonlight and her gaze.

That was undoubtedly a miracle, right? Even if it was in response to the expectations of the Age of Gods, it was undoubtedly a miracle that belonged to her, Morgan, right?

From then on, everything changed again.

All the anger, all the resentment, and the weight of fate that had haunted her countless times, all dissipated in the oath of that day. The cage of her destiny had truly been broken.

And that knight named Lancelot, he truly, as he had once sworn, played a celebratory hymn for her on the day she became queen. Although the performance of that hymn was on a large velvet bed, and all the odes and tunes were her high or low moans, the ambiguity represented the love and bond between them.

And it was after that day that Morgan had hope for the future and a plan to put her ideals into action.

Although there were unpleasant things in the process of the plan, for example, Lancelot was too close to her weak sister, and for example, the little red dragon, who was as poor as the plains of Britain in winter, dared to covet her knight. But even so, Morgan was convinced that Lancelot would not leave her.

Because she knew he loved her, and this love could not be transferred to others.

That was why Morgan acted so nonchalantly, and even when she was moved, she would go against her heart and say that she could not fall in love with him.

But on that day, another change came.

When Morgan saw that it was not Lancelot himself who returned to Camelot from Londinium, but a letter from him, the inexplicable sense of unease that had been born since he left almost instantly filled her heart.

Could it be that Vortigern suddenly went back on his word and imprisoned Lancelot? Or was it that the damn Red Dragon happened to attack with her troops, causing him to be trapped there?

But when Morgan couldn't suppress her nervousness and eagerly opened the letter, she was stunned.

The truth of the fading Age of Gods, the future of the island's destruction, the conspiracy with the Tyrant King, and what made Morgan frown the most, temporarily joining the Knights of the Round Table.

After reading the letter, Morgan was dazed for a moment.

She considered herself the master of all of Britain, but she never knew that the end of the Age of Gods would lead to such a result. She had thought that the end of the Age of Gods would only mean a temporary food shortage in Britain and a certain impact on the environment.

And combining this news, Morgan also understood why Lancelot would choose to cooperate with Vortigern, and even join the Knights of the Round Table knowing that she disliked them. Although that guy used the terms 'infiltration' and 'temporary'.

So everything Lancelot did this time was for her sake.

After thinking this through, Morgan couldn't help but fall silent.

That foolish knight had never forgotten his oath and promise to her.

Because the Age of Gods was dying, and all of Britain's subjects except for her would die, such a king would have no meaning. So he chose to risk his life to conspire with Vortigern.

Because he knew how deep her obsession with the kingship was, he was willing to bear the condemnation of the whole world and infiltrate the Round Table, even if it would put him in endless danger.

Because he loved her, he was willing to give everything.

Such a him, such a Lancelot.

He was truly a fool who couldn't be more foolish...

For the first time ever, Morgan had the thought of abandoning Camelot, which was now at a critical stage, to find him. This was undoubtedly against her long-held belief of becoming king.

Even Morgan herself was startled when she realized this thought.

So in the end, she still did not abandon the throne to find him.

Because she trusted Lancelot, just as he said in his letter.

"Your Majesty, please believe me. Your most loyal knight will definitely bring you the future of your great kingdom, and the final victory of this war."

So Morgan suppressed the uneasiness in her heart and turned to another matter.

That was to leave a surprise for Lancelot's return.

Someone strong enough, who grew up fast enough, to replace Lancelot and fight King Arthur, and even to take charge of the whole of Britain in her place in the future.

To be precise, a child.

Flipping through the forbidden magic scroll that she had long since sealed in a dark room, Morgan began this magical secret ritual.

Using the whole of Camelot as the base, supplemented by the ley lines for nourishment.

Giving her own pure blood, which represented herself, and the fairy factor belonging to Lancelot, and although she was extremely reluctant, in order for this child to grow up quickly, she had to add the blood of the Red Dragon Arthur. And with this, she provided the 'lightning' from nature as a blessing.

From this was born a small girl with the same face as Morgan and Artoria, but with the same azure eyes as Lancelot.

Looking at this child lying in her swaddling clothes, with a light golden hair color that was a mix of the three of them, a rare look of motherly tenderness appeared in Morgan's eyes.

She knew that this child was different from Gawain and Agravain, who only had her blood. She was truly the child of Morgan and Lancelot.

And she would also be the child of the King of Camelot, born to bear their future.

Named: Mordred.

In the ancient Celtic language, it means 'death', but it also has the meaning of 'new life'.

Her birth represented the passing of all of Morgan's past sorrows, and in their place was a new future with her knight and lover, Lancelot.

Even the other meaning of destruction in Mordred's name could represent that she would replace Lancelot as the one to end Arthur.

With this in mind, Morgan's life was no longer confined to dealing with the affairs of Camelot. She would spend a lot of time accompanying Mordred as she grew up, and even the uneasiness that had never disappeared in her heart was slightly reduced.

And in her spare time, Morgan would tell Mordred stories about her father Lancelot, and at the same time, belittle a certain barren girl named Arthur. She encouraged Mordred not to feel inferior because she had her blood in her body, but to use it as motivation to defeat and conquer her.

And so, with a bewildered expression on little Mo's face, the days gradually passed.

Until one day, news of the war on the front line came. The advance of Londinium, the changes in the war situation, and the sudden appearance of the White Dragon's aura.

And what made Morgan's face change drastically and the uneasiness in her heart explode was the feeling that Merlin had broken his vow and broken through Avalon.

This cunning nightmare had used a special method to block Morgan's perception of Avalon, and had hidden his clone's soul in Artoria's mind, thus evading Morgan's detection.

It wasn't until he appeared on the battlefield that Morgan sensed that he had actually broken his vow.

So without stopping, Morgan instantly rushed to Avalon. She knew that Merlin's main body could not leave the Star Observatory, so she planned to force Merlin to be recalled by attacking his main body.

But she didn't expect to be ambushed by fairies who had already colluded with Merlin on the way, and was forced to be trapped in the Fairy Forest by an illusion.

When she successfully shattered the illusion and arrived at the observatory, what she saw was Merlin with both his eyes blind and a crazed look on his face.

As if sensing Morgan's arrival, Merlin verbally mocked Morgan for ignoring the will of the world and believing in an outsider to shatter fate.

He said that even if the Age of Gods returned, even if he was blind, even if Morgan won, all of this would be destroyed.

And the first to be destroyed would be Lancelot.

Ignoring the mad Merlin, urged by the uneasy and vexed emotions in her heart, Morgan rushed to Londinium at the fastest speed.

And there she saw two entangled beams of light, a spear and a sword.

And the voice and words that made her eyes go cold and her whole body shiver.

"Lancelot! I will definitely defeat you, and then keep you by my side forever!"

Under the twilight, shadows flowed, like the witch's wrath burning and expanding.
