Chapter 115 -  Not Taking Us Seriously!

Wuhun City, a small courtyard behind the Pope's Palace.

"Damn! That old poison freak actually hid something from us." After reading the letter, Chrysanthemum Douluo looked somewhat sour.

Still, thinking about it carefully, it made sense. Dugu Bo's martial soul was of the dragon lineage, specifically a serpent with keen perception. It was only natural that he could sense resonance with two dragon-related immortal herbs and guess they were suitable for him.

Of course he would keep it hidden.

Sitting on the other side of the table, Ghost Douluo calmly drank his tea, waiting for his good friend to explain. Soon, Chrysanthemum Douluo passed the letter over. "Old ghost, take a look."

Ghost Douluo nodded slightly, reached out to take it, and quickly read through. After a brief moment of thought, he looked up and said:

"This matter probably needs to be reported."

"Mm, we can't keep this hidden." Chrysanthemum Douluo nodded, stood up directly. "Come on, let's go now."

Ghost Douluo didn't say much and followed.

Before long, inside the Pope's Palace.

"Your Holiness, this is a letter from Xiao Hai. Please take a look." Chrysanthemum Douluo respectfully handed it over.

Bibi Dong nodded slightly, raised her hand, and drew the letter into her grasp. She lowered her eyes to read.

Her expression changed almost instantly. After a brief pause, she looked up at Chrysanthemum Douluo, her tone calm. "Xiao Hai did very well this time. Elder Chrysanthemum, you also have great merit."

The letter stated that years ago, in search of medicine for his son, Dugu Bo had traveled across the continent. By sensing resonance between his martial soul and rare treasures, he discovered two. However, after tests and partial use, he realized their medicinal power was too domineering, clashing with his body's poison and harming him, making them impossible to consume.

With no choice, he stored them away, planning to take them only after someday curing his poison.

Later events made the picture clear.

Dugu Yan fell in love with Yu Tianheng. Since Dugu Bo was already a Titled Douluo, even if his poison was cured, those herbs would not have much effect on him. So, he decided to give one to Yu Tianheng, his future grandson-in-law, to help him reach the Titled rank one day. That way, if Dugu Bo died from poison or old age, Yu Tianheng could take care of Dugu Yan.

But then Yang Yunhai suddenly appeared, curing both Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan of their poison. Along the way, Dugu Bo tested Yu Tianheng, only to find that he was completely unworthy of entrustment. The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan also disappointed him greatly, leaving him furious.

Now that the poison was cured, and with his granddaughter having broken up with Yu Tianheng, Dugu Bo simply decided to consume the herbs himself.

Looking at the whole sequence of events, without Yang Yunhai's intervention, Yu Tianheng might have received one of the herbs, and even the other could have ended up in the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's hands. Their overall power would have grown dramatically.

This, of course, would have been detrimental to her plans.

But now, since the herbs were taken by Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan, and Dugu Bo even shared the matter with Yang Yunhai, his lifesaver, it proved the trust between them. Judging from the situation, Dugu Bo likely wanted Yang Yunhai as his grandson-in-law. If this came to pass, both Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan would become allies of the Spirit Hall, which was excellent news.

As for the herbs, they were already consumed, so it was pointless to dwell on them. Besides, it seemed Dugu Bo had only found two that resonated with his martial soul.

Even if he had found others, the chance was slim. Such immortal herbs were nearly impossible to encounter. Chrysanthemum Douluo had traveled the continent himself without finding one, and no other Titled Elders had mentioned seeing any either. Even Qian Daoliu, who had roamed widely as the Chief Judge, had never encountered one.

So, offending Dugu Bo,who had grown much stronger and might soon join Spirit Hall, over something that most likely didn't exist wasn't worth it.

Heh. But as for the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, they were in for a rough time. They might even grow to hate Xiao Hai more for it, further offending Dugu Bo. Spirit Hall could then profit as the fisherman.

"Elder Chrysanthemum, you will need to fully cooperate in this matter," Bibi Dong said, looking at him. "Also, send word to Salas to keep a close eye on the movements of other factions, especially the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan."

All this talk of merit, but no reward? Fortunately, his disciple had been careful and hadn't written the names of the Nine Treasure Dragon Grass or the Earth Dragon Golden Gourd in the letter, only their appearances and effects. Otherwise, Bibi Dong might be demanding an illustrated catalog of herbs. Chrysanthemum Douluo felt uneasy, but outwardly remained respectful. "Yes, Your Holiness!"

Truthfully, he wasn't eager to share information about immortal herbs with outsiders.

Dugu Bo at least had a connection through his granddaughter and his disciple. But Bibi Dong? They weren't close at all.

Not familiar!

He glanced at his good friend Ghost Douluo. Both of them had recently broken through to rank 96 and were striving for rank 97.

Their prospects were bright. Why continue exhausting themselves for Bibi Dong's thankless tasks?

Now, he wanted to live more for himself, for his brother, and for his disciple!

Just then, Bibi Dong's voice came again, calm: "Elder Chrysanthemum, I recall you once mentioned the Immortal Herb Black Jade Divine Bamboo. You must have researched such things before. Do you recognize the two Dugu Bo obtained?"

So she brought it up after all… Chrysanthemum Douluo's heart sank. After half a second of thought, he replied truthfully: "I know a little. One is called Nine Treasure Dragon Grass, the other Earth Dragon Golden Gourd. Both are said to be born bathed in dragon blood. If consumed by someone with a dragon martial soul…"

He gave a simple explanation, then added: "Because they match dragon martial souls so well and their power is fierce, the energy is consumed quickly. The effects appear just as fast. That's why Dugu Bo and his granddaughter's martial souls evolved immediately after consuming them."

"Your Holiness, at this point, even if the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan killed them and drained their blood, it would be useless. They missed their chance because of arrogance."

A trace of mockery flashed in his eyes.

So it really was too late… Bibi Dong sighed inwardly, brushed away a sudden thought, and said: "Elder Chrysanthemum, would you be willing to contribute your knowledge of immortal herbs to Spirit Hall? Knowledge is priceless, and I won't let you suffer a loss. In exchange, I can grant you a spirit bone of over thirty thousand years, one that matches you well."

Given that both Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo had reached rank 96, even she had to take this seriously. A thirty-thousand-year spirit bone was indeed valuable. Immortal herbs were miraculous, but far too rare.

How could he refuse? Still, he thought: Fine, I've already consumed what suited me. These herbs aren't easy to find anyway. I'll only hand over part of the information and secretly pass the rest to my disciple later.

Smiling with delight, he said respectfully: "Thank you, Your Holiness!"

"However, the knowledge I have was passed down orally in my family. There are no written records. The illustrations I had were destroyed in my early hardships. I'll organize what I know and submit it to Your Holiness later."

"Then I'll trouble you, Elder Chrysanthemum." Bibi Dong nodded. "If there is nothing else, you may both leave."

"Yes!" Both bowed and turned to go.

Once far from the hall, they exchanged glances. Cold light flickered in their eyes.

They both knew the value of immortal herbs firsthand. From the contents of the letter, Bibi Dong surely understood as well. Yet she wanted to exchange a mere thirty-thousand-year spirit bone for that knowledge.

She clearly did not take them seriously!

It's true what they say, those who are too obedient are taken advantage of. They had treated the Pope too seriously in the past.

Thankfully, they had changed.
