Having not seen Natsui for a long time, Misty and Ash seemed to have endless things to talk about. With Natsui's wit and humor, and Tracey occasionally chiming in, the speedboat was soon filled with laughter.
And as they were heading towards the next island, in a certain sea region of the Orange Archipelago, a strange fortress floating high in the sky flew over a few islands.
In the control room of the fortress, a bizarrely-shaped man looked at the map before him, a cold smile on his face.
"Soon, my wish will be fulfilled. The god of fire, the god of ice, the god of thunder, and even the god of the sea will all become part of my collection!"
Just then, as the radar on the screen flashed, a synthetic female voice sounded in the control room.
"Life signs of the three Legendary Pokémon have been detected. Commence attack?"
The man stood up, walked to a floor-to-ceiling window at the front, and looked down at the three small islands below through the bright glass. A cold glint flashed in his indifferent eyes as he directly pressed the switch.
The command was transmitted through the electrical currents.
The next second, with a creaking of machinery, the flying fortress's weapon system opened, extending several cannons. It aimed at one of the islands and launched an attack.
Boom! Boom!
The shells hit the small island, causing violent explosions that pulverized rocks and vegetation, completely altering the terrain!
After a dozen or so shots, a Moltres, burning with flames, suddenly flew out of a cave, let out an angry cry, and charged towards the fortress in the sky!
Seeing the target appear, the fortress's cannons swiveled and began to fire at Moltres. After taking a few hits, Moltres finally drew close and spewed forth raging flames!
Instantly, as the two sides clashed, the very heavens and earth seemed to change color!
...
Blue sky, white clouds, a pleasant journey.
On the speedboat, after their mouths had gone dry from all the talking and the initial excitement of the reunion had passed, everyone had now quieted down, each finding a place to rest.
Natsui leaned against the railing, took a sip of water, and began to softly tell Misty, who was kneeling beside him, a few interesting stories from his time in the Orange Islands.
Opposite them, Sabrina turned her head to look at the sea. Listening to the stories Natsui was telling—stories she had also been a part of—she would only occasionally cast a scrutinizing glance at Misty.
Given Misty's age, she naturally wouldn't consider her a rival in love, but seeing her so close to Natsui still made Sabrina feel very uncomfortable.
Glancing at Misty's slightly developed chest, Sabrina gently shook her head and sighed.
Forget it. She's beautiful, but she's just a child. I won't lower myself to her level.
As they chatted idly, the speedboat cut through the waves. After traveling for a long time, they could already see the city on the next island in the distance.
Seeing this, Mei shouted to them, "Everyone, we're almost there! Grab your luggage."
However, no sooner had her voice faded than the sky was suddenly covered by thick, dark clouds, becoming as dark as the bottom of a soot-blackened pot.
"Eh? Is the weather changing?" Misty asked in surprise.
"No," Natsui said, looking up for a moment before shaking his head. "This kind of sudden weather change must have been caused by a Pokémon."
"A Pokémon!?"
Ash and Misty were both shocked to hear this, wondering what kind of Pokémon could have the power to change both the sea and the sky at the same time.
"He's right," Mei agreed with Natsui's view. "Although the sea is unpredictable and ever-changing, it still follows certain patterns. It's impossible for it to turn completely dark like this without any warning."
And as they were speaking, a giant wave crashed against the side of the boat. Everyone lost their balance and stumbled to the side.
Even Mei, who was at the helm, was caught off guard and fell to the deck!
Under the influence of the violent waves, the rudder spun wildly. In an instant, the speedboat was thrown off course, drifting with the current towards parts unknown!
Mei struggled to her feet and quickly tried to right the rudder, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't turn it in the slightest!
"It's no use! The boat is out of control! I can't move it!"
Ash was about to go and help, but he was knocked back against the side of the boat by another giant wave!
"Everyone, be careful! Hold on tight! Don't fall into the sea!"
Amidst Mei's shouts, the speedboat tossed and turned, drifting further and further away with the current.
Lightning flashed and thunder roared in the clouds, fierce winds howled across the sky, and the sea's surface churned with massive waves!
In the face of such power, everyone was reminded of just how small humanity truly is!
Tossing and turning, rocking and rolling...
After who knows how long, the wind gradually died down, and the waves began to subside. Feeling that things were calming down, they finally had a chance to poke their heads out and see where on earth they were.
Mei was completely disoriented. When she had cleared her head a bit and took a good look, she saw that they had been blown to another island!
After identifying it for a moment, she said in surprise, "This is Shamouti Island!? I can't believe we ended up here!"
Shamouti Island!?
Natsui was taken aback.
He certainly remembered this place, but...
Perhaps it was fate. It seemed that whenever he ran into Ash in the wild, some major plot event would always be triggered!
Misty asked, "Miss Mei, is Shamouti Island far from our destination?"
"Yes," Mei nodded. "This is already near the very center of the Orange Archipelago. We're quite a bit off course. But, it's alright. Since we're here, we can rest and make repairs."
By now, the speedboat had entered the inner bay of Shamouti Island, drifted towards a beach next to the port, and was then washed directly onto the shore.
Ash was the first to jump onto the beach, letting out a long sigh of relief.
"We're finally saved! Land is so much better. I was about to get sick from all that tossing around!"
"I think..." Tracey's voice trembled. "We might have just gotten into another kind of trouble..."
Hearing him, at first, no one understood what he meant. However, when they followed Tracey's gaze, they saw that on the nearby seawall, a group of strange creatures was standing there!
At first glance, they had bodies similar to humans, but their heads were like those of birds, and their bodies were covered in colorful feathers!
They stood in silence, then jumped down from the seawall and surrounded Natsui and the others, staring at them with strange eyes!
Everyone was startled and took a step back. Misty was so scared she hid behind Natsui.
However, just as they were about to send out their Pokémon to defend themselves, a woman's voice suddenly came from the mouth of one of the creatures.
"Huh? Isn't that Mei?"
Hearing this voice, everyone was stunned. Looking closely, they finally realized that these strange creatures were just humans in costumes!
