After leaving the gym, Natsui and Sabrina returned to the town on Pomelo Island.
They chose a relatively high-end restaurant and, after a hearty meal, went to find a place to stay for the night.
However, when they passed the local Pokémon Center, Natsui chose not to go in. Instead, under the pretext of getting a more comfortable sleep, he led Sabrina to a nearby hotel, checked in, and got two rooms with large beds.
Although Pokémon Centers offer free food and lodging, they are divided into male and female dormitories. Not only are the facilities average, but there's also no privacy to speak of. While convenient for dropping in at any time, it was ultimately not ideal.
Normally, if he were with a larger group, staying there would be perfectly fine. It would be lively, and they could share stories and experiences before bed, which was a great way to deepen friendships and broaden horizons.
But right now, it was just him and Sabrina, which would be far too quiet.
And most importantly, he had just taken advantage of her last night and was already thinking of pressing his luck further. Naturally, he didn't want to stay in the inconvenient Pokémon Center.
As the daytime hustle and bustle slowly subsided, moonlight once again enveloped the land.
Late at night, the streetlights grew dim. The island had a slow pace of life with few entertainment options. Not only did the shops close early, but the streets were also nearly empty of pedestrians. It seemed as if the entire world had fallen completely silent.
In her room, Sabrina finished washing up, changed into her pajamas, and was about to get into bed when she suddenly heard a knock on the door.
Knock, knock, knock.
Even without using her psychic powers, she knew that the only person who would dare to knock on her door at this hour was undoubtedly Natsui.
Sure enough, when she opened the door, she saw Natsui standing outside, smiling like a flower in full bloom.
Giving him a sideways glance, Sabrina asked, "Is there something you need?"
Natsui's smile grew even brighter. "Nothing, really. I just couldn't sleep, so I thought I'd come over and visit."
Visit?
Sabrina couldn't help but find it amusing.
Although Natsui's words were pleasant, she knew perfectly well what his true intentions were.
She deliberately didn't move aside, standing in the doorway to see what he would do, to see if he would take the hint and retreat. However, she didn't expect him to be so thick-skinned as to squeeze past her into the room. Then, under her half-smiling gaze, he plopped himself down on the sofa.
There's really no dealing with him…
Shaking her head helplessly, Sabrina decided to ignore him and turned to close the door.
Neither of them spoke, and for a moment, the atmosphere seemed to turn strange.
Sabrina went about her business and got into bed, while Natsui sat on the sofa, his bright eyes watching her every move.
Seeing her actually close her eyes, Natsui sat stiffly for a long time. Seemingly unable to bear it any longer, he slowly got up and walked over to the bedside.
"So… who do you think will win tomorrow's match, me or that Rudy guy?"
It was an obviously pointless question. The only reason Natsui asked was to break the stalemate and get her to speak.
However, after a few seconds, Sabrina's eyes remained closed, her breathing even, as if she were already asleep.
No reaction?
Natsui raised his eyebrows, knowing that was impossible.
After all, with him still in the room, even an ordinary person wouldn't be able to let down their guard and fall asleep peacefully, let alone a psychic like Sabrina.
Seeing that she was ignoring him, Natsui simply took off his shoes and lay down on the bed as well.
Creak…
Under the weight of two people, the mattress seemed to protest, sinking slightly.
The room fell silent again, the only sound being the loud, rapid beating of their hearts.
After waiting a little longer and seeing Sabrina still unresponsive, Natsui cleared his throat and, without further hesitation, slowly reached his hand toward her.
He tentatively groped forward, inch by inch, until his fingers slipped under the warm covers. However, the instant he touched her pajamas, Sabrina suddenly opened her eyes.
She turned her head to look at him. Just as Natsui thought she was about to stop him, he heard her say softly, "Turn off the lights…"
…
At noon, inside the Pomelo Gym.
Rudy sat with his legs crossed, his fingers drumming impatiently on the nearby tabletop.
He had originally thought that Natsui, as the challenger, would surely be very serious about the match and would arrive early in the morning to begin.
But he had been waiting since the morning, a full three or four hours. He had already drunk several cups of coffee, yet there was still no sign of Natsui.
In truth, Rudy wasn't particularly concerned about the match or Natsui himself. His main goal was to display his gentlemanly side in front of Sabrina and show off for her.
That's why he had woken up extra early, changed into his favorite outfit, and even styled his hair with hairspray, all to make a stunning impression when they met
But looking at the clock on the wall, it was just a few minutes to twelve, and Natsui still hadn't appeared!
Could it be that he felt he didn't stand a chance, so he got scared and left secretly!?
As his thoughts ran wild, a little girl of about five or six years old walked up to him and said in a childish voice, "Big brother, has the person you're waiting for not come yet? Mahri is hungry. Let's go have lunch."
"Alright." Rudy had always doted on his younger sister and naturally couldn't let her go hungry. "Then let's go to the dining room. Today's main course is Mahri's favorite~"
He affectionately patted his sister's head, stood up, and was just about to leave with her when the gym's main doors suddenly opened. Natsui, yawning, slowly walked in with Sabrina.
Instantly, Rudy's brow furrowed.
What great timing. To choose this moment of all times!
However, when his gaze shifted to Sabrina, he was suddenly stunned. The beautiful woman's complexion was rosy and glowing, and it seemed she had become even more beautiful overnight!
Her previously cool temperament now seemed to have an added touch of charm.
"Hm?" Seeing Rudy standing there frozen, Natsui couldn't help but chuckle. "What's wrong? Did you know I was coming and stand here specifically to welcome me?"
Hearing this, Rudy's nose nearly bent out of shape with anger.
Who the hell would want to welcome you!
He said sourly, "Hmph, you're only just arriving? I thought you'd run away at the last minute!"
"Have you been waiting for me all this time?" Natsui gave him a surprised look, then spread his hands. "Sorry, sorry. We just went to bed too late last night, that's why we're only showing up now."
"Wow!" At that moment, Mahri looked at Sabrina and exclaimed, "What a pretty big sister!"
Being praised by such a young girl, anyone else would have felt at least a little happy, no matter how much they pretended not to care. But upon hearing it, Sabrina's expression remained unchanged.
Knowing her personality, Natsui knelt down to look at the little girl and said on Sabrina's behalf, "You're very cute too, little miss. Are you part of this gym?"
"Mhm," the girl nodded vigorously, lifting her face. "My name is Mahri. I'm big brother's little sister, and I live in the gym!"
