Chapter 251 - Chapter 250: Night Talk in the Tent

Yay!

Hearing Natsui agree to let her sleep there, Misty almost laughed out loud. However, she didn't want to be next to Sabrina. Ignoring the distinction between men and women, she sat down directly on Natsui's other side, sandwiching him between herself and Sabrina.

After parting ways at the Indigo Conference, Misty and Natsui hadn't had much time to spend alone. Now that she finally had the chance, and without the annoying third wheel Ash around, she had an endless stream of things to say. Ignoring Sabrina's presence, she chattered on like a happy little bird, talking nonstop.

For a moment, the tent was filled with Misty's cheerful laughter.

Beside them, Sabrina glanced at Misty but didn't want to interfere with Natsui too much.

Besides, this was just a teenage girl, posing no threat to their relationship. But she also didn't want to see Natsui laughing and talking with Misty, so she took a pair of headphones from her bag, put them on, and, deciding that out of sight was out of mind, lay down on her side and pretended to sleep.

Misty saw this and became even more brazen. Her words were no longer veiled, openly revealing her feelings of longing.

"Natsui, guess who I dreamed about last night?"

"Who did you dream about?" Natsui asked, playing dumb.

"Hehe, you, of course, Natsui!" Misty's face turned slightly red, and although she was extremely shy, she still looked directly into Natsui's eyes. "I dreamed that we were in the hot springs on Cinnabar Island together. And it's such a coincidence, it's only been a few hours, but we actually met. It's like a dream come true!"

The hot springs on Cinnabar Island…

Remembering that scene in the hot springs, Natsui's nose couldn't help but feel a little itchy.

She must have brought that up on purpose.

To be honest, if Misty were a few years older, Natsui definitely wouldn't be able to control himself. But unfortunately, she was still just a budding flower, far too young.

So even though her hints were very obvious, Natsui just pretended not to understand, giving a few perfunctory «uh-huhs» and «yeahs» before quickly changing the subject.

Misty didn't notice this at all. And even if she had, she wouldn't have cared. Just being able to talk to Natsui was enough to make her happy.

The gentle breeze rustled the tent, causing the wind flap to flutter from time to time.

Before they knew it, Sabrina had fallen asleep, and Natsui had to lower his voice.

The two of them chatted about other things until after eleven o'clock at night. Hearing the snores of Ash and Tracey rising and falling outside, he began to urge Misty to go to sleep.

"Misty, you should sleep. If you don't get enough rest, you won't grow properly. And you don't want your skin to lose its glow, do you?"

"Alright…"

Left with no choice, Misty reluctantly lay down and fell silent.

But being able to sleep next to Natsui felt like a dream to her.

Such a small space, breathing the same air…

Does this count as living under the same roof?

As her thoughts wandered, Natsui had already turned off the portable lamp.

In an instant, the tent became pitch black. Hearing his even breathing, Misty tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep. After a long time, she turned her head to sneak a peek at Natsui's side profile.

But it was too dark in the tent. She could only make out the silhouette of a man with the faint light seeping through the cracks.

Hehe, Natsui's side profile is so handsome.

Sigh, if only I could see it every day…

Her mind was filled with daydreams, but eventually, she couldn't resist the overwhelming drowsiness. With a light smile on her face, she contentedly drifted off to sleep.

Phew…

Only then did Natsui truly let out a sigh of relief.

Although Misty was still young, she spoke without reservation and had a fiery and bold personality. Sometimes, she was even harder to deal with than an adult like Sabrina.

Now that she's asleep, I can finally get some rest…

Late at night, the entire campsite had fallen completely silent. The only sound was the crackling of the campfire when Dr. Quackenpoker, who was on night watch, added more wood.

Knowing his age and limited energy, Dr. Quackenpoker had brewed himself a pot of strong tea. He relied on the bitter taste and the theophylline it contained to stimulate his central nervous system, ensuring he wouldn't be defeated by sleep.

Phew~

A gulp of hot tea not only dispelled the cold but also warmed his limbs.

Just then, a sudden noise from the lake caught his attention.

Hmm?

Could it be that the Magikarp are starting their mass evolution!?

With this thought, he shot up and looked towards the lake.

Inside the tent, Natsui, who was sound asleep, vaguely heard the roar of a machine running outside.

At first, he didn't pay much attention, but the noise was so annoying that it was impossible to sleep.

He forced his eyes open, fumbled to turn on the portable lamp, and checked the time. It was just past 3 AM; he had slept for less than four hours.

He was about to get up and check it out when he suddenly felt something was wrong.

In the lamplight, he looked down and saw that, at some point, Misty had crawled into his sleeping bag and he was holding her in his arms.

His heart skipped a beat.

He had gotten so used to sleeping with Sabrina lately that he had mistaken Misty for her and hugged her.

Thank goodness, thank goodness, I didn't make a mistake in my sleep-addled state. It seemed his hands and feet had just gotten a bit restless in his drowsy state, messing up Misty's clothes a bit.

Seeing her brow furrow slightly, showing signs of waking up, Natsui quickly pulled his arm out from under her and pretended that nothing had happened.

A few seconds later, as Misty's sleepy eyes fluttered open, she saw Natsui getting dressed and sat up in surprise.

"Natsui, what's wrong? Did something happen?"

As she spoke, she felt a slight chill on her chest and realized that one of the buttons on her pajamas had come undone.

She quickly covered her chest and turned slightly to the side, but didn't notice anything else out of the ordinary.

Hmm?

Strange, how did I end up in Natsui's sleeping bag?

Before she could think about it, Natsui's voice came. "I don't know, but it sounds like there's some commotion outside. Let's go check it out."

Just then, Sabrina also woke up. The three of them changed their clothes and went out of the tent.

The cool air was a bit biting, but it woke Natsui up completely, dispelling all his sleepiness.

On the other side, Ash and Tracey also yawned and crawled out of their sleeping bags. The group looked at each other, none of them knowing what had happened.

Looking around, they saw that the campfire was still burning, but the flames were much smaller.

And Dr. Quackenpoker was standing by the lake with a pair of binoculars, observing the situation in the water.
