Entering Violet City, the two went to the Pokémon Center to rest for a bit. Before sunset, Natsui took Erika to the northern part of Violet City, crossed a lake, and came to the Sprout Tower once again.
This was his second time here. Normally, he shouldn't have come back for another visit, but since it was Erika's first time in Johto and she had never been to the Sprout Tower, she naturally had to experience the scenery here.
Standing at the entrance of the temple and looking at the familiar high tower, Natsui couldn't help but feel a bit emotional.
Only a few short days had passed, but things were already different. The person accompanying him was no longer Sabrina, but another woman.
Under the setting sun, the golden sunlight shone down, giving the Sprout Tower a different kind of view.
The sound of the temple bell echoed in his ears, drifting with the wind, traveling far, all the way to the urban area of Violet City.
The two entered the temple and climbed to the top of the tower. At first, Natsui had planned to tell Erika about the origin of the Sprout Tower, but halfway through, he found that Erika actually knew more about it than he did.
Seeing his surprised look, Erika covered her mouth and giggled, then took out that travel guide again.
"Just like Greenfield, the guide has very detailed information about this place. But I didn't expect that compared to the introduction in the guide, the scenery here is even more outstanding when you see it in person."
Is this place really that good?
Natsui raised his eyebrows in surprise.
For him, neither the Sprout Tower nor this temple was very interesting, but Erika was watching with great relish.
On second thought, perhaps this also had to do with Erika's background. As a young lady from a prestigious family, she had been exposed to ancient and quaint things since she was a child. She also loved nature, so it could be said that this place completely suited her taste.
After strolling for a while, in the evening, the two had a free vegetarian meal at the temple and then returned to the Pokémon Center to rest.
And before going to sleep, while browsing the web on his phone in bed, he accidentally saw a piece of news.
The headline was Indigo Conference Champion Sets Sights on Silver League! Natsui's heart moved. He clicked on it and the first thing he saw was a photo of his battle with the Week Siblings outside Violet City today.
The photo was very clear and taken up close, probably by one of the onlookers.
From the photo, it was the moment his Larvitar defeated the Slugma.
Looking at the content of the news, the author clearly had high expectations for him. The entire article was praising his outstanding strength, saying that if he participated in the Silver Conference, he would at the very least reach the top four and achieve a good result.
A good result…
Natsui put his phone aside and looked at the ceiling of the dorm room.
The moonlight shone through the window onto his face, revealing his bright eyes.
Ever since winning the conference, his standards had also risen, and he had become very confident.
This time, participating in the Silver Conference, just as this news article said, he had only one goal, and only one: the championship.
…
After breakfast, the two set off from Violet City. After walking west for less than half an hour, they slowly left the city and came to the edge of a forest.
In front of them was a fork in the road, and at this moment, Natsui also had two different paths to choose from.
The first was to follow the main road south to Azalea Town to challenge the Azalea Gym there.
The other was to pass through the forest, continue west, and after reaching the vicinity of the National Park, turn north to challenge the Ecruteak Gym in Ecruteak City.
But since both directions would eventually lead to Cianwood City, forming a circular route, it didn't really matter which route they chose.
It was just a matter of sequence, and the scenery they would see would be slightly different.
But since they were traveling together, Natsui couldn't make the decision on his own and asked for Erika's opinion.
Erika thought for a moment. "Since it's the same either way, why don't we go to Ecruteak City first?"
Seeing Natsui look at her, Erika smiled and explained, "Ecruteak City is very famous. I've always wanted to go there and see it."
"Ecruteak City… alright, then let's challenge the Ecruteak Gym first."
Since Erika had already decided on the direction, Natsui nodded and walked into the forest with her.
The sound of footsteps came from far to near.
On the not-so-wide dirt path, the two walked side by side. From time to time, wild Pokémon would pop their heads out from behind the trees, looking at the two humans curiously. But when they were noticed, they would timidly pull their heads back.
It could be seen that although this forest was not very dense, it covered a large area. They had been walking for a long time, but still hadn't left the forest.
The sun rose higher and higher, but fortunately, the shade of the trees blocked it, so they didn't feel hot while traveling.
At noon, during a break for a drink of water, Natsui leaned against a thick tree trunk and opened his map.
His finger slid across the phone screen, and after a moment, he suddenly let out a soft "huh."
Seeing his strange expression, Erika gave him a curious look. "What's wrong?"
"There seems to be a school up ahead."
"A school? Here?" Erika's eyes widened. Seeing Natsui nod, she asked curiously, "Why would there be a school in such a sparsely populated forest?"
"Let me see… hmm… it's a school called the Pokémon Ninja School."
"Should we go take a look?"
"Sure," Natsui said, looking down at the map again. "It's on the way anyway. Let's go and check it out."
After a short rest, the two continued on their way. After walking for a dozen or so minutes and rounding a large boulder, they saw, behind a wooden and stone wall, several towering, ancient-style buildings standing within.
Following the path, the two walked to the main gate of the school. Seeing that the gate was not closed, they walked right in.
At the entrance was an open field. They could see dozens of men and women in various colored ninja uniforms, practicing something with a group of Pokémon.
Just as the two were looking around, an old but powerful voice sounded from behind them.
"You two, what is your business here?"
Natsui was startled. Hearing the voice, he quickly turned to look and saw an old man in his sixties or seventies, with a full head of silver hair, wearing a dark blue ninja uniform, looking at them quietly.
When did he get here?
So silently, without making any sound at all.
"Sorry, we are travelers passing by. We saw a school here and wanted to come and take a look."
"I see," the old man said, nodding with a cheerful smile. "Let me introduce myself. I am a ninja, and also the headmaster of this place. Welcome to our school."
