Elliot was in the kitchen, making dinner as he waits for Aurora and Dawn to come home from work and school.
The sizzling of the meat in the pan breaking the silence, the smell of food permeating in the air.
"Too quiet." He thought to himself, "music! That's what I need!"
Immediately, he dialed down the fire for the two other pots, and he ran out of the kitchen and up the stairs towards his and Aurora's room.
He then dash towards his desk and rummaged through the junk in his drawer a charging cable, a bunch of papers and receipts, Until finally finding his desired item.
A speaker that is the width of a water bottle, and the length of a hand, he then ran back to the kitchen, down the stairs and into the food smelling room.
He then took out his phone and turned on the speaker before putting it on the counter next to him.
Elliot connected his phone to the speaker using Bluetooth and then opened the song: "bumble bee", but of course he made sure that the volume wasn't loud enough to notify the whole neighborhood.
Nodding to the beat, he went back to cooking, turning up the fire and opening the lid to each of the pots.
One had rice, the other had a soup, and the last had the meat. Elliot spent the next half hour making the food, until he heard the front door open and close.
Elliot panicked and turned off the speaker and the songs.
"I'm home!" Aurora yelled as she passed the kitchen and into the door next to it to the living room. "Who knew that excel was so exhausting…"
"Oh don't worry, you aren't in the same pressure as when you were a kid!" Elliot laughed as he once again lowered the fire and walked into the living room.
"You're right, but I'm still used to getting pressured to death by my boss." Aurora sighed, "But at least I'm employee of the month once again."
"Congrats!" Elliot yelled joyfully, "wait, I gotta keep my eye on the food."
Aurora nodded as Elliot went back into the kitchen, going back to cooking, but Aurora got up and followed Elliot into the kitchen, stopping at the door frame and leaning on it.
"Hey, remember our first 'date'?" Aurora asked.
"Yeah," Elliot responded, "the school project thing?"
"No, not that one." Aurora answered while shaking her head, "the one after getting together with you."
"Oh, that one? Yeah I remember it," He said as he nodded, "why?"
Elliot then lifted the lids off each of the pots, then he turned off the stove, then he put the lid on each of the pots once again.
"It's nothing, just suddenly remembered it…" Aurora let out a giggle, "us, together, alone… I remember it very vividly."
"Good thing we weren't reckless, it's to be expected I guess." Elliot joked.
Suddenly, the front door slammed open and shut, small footsteps running in.
"I'm home!" Dawn squealed as she tackled her mom into a hug.
And a silent moment later, she let go of her mother and put her bag on the floor. Aurora shot her a quick stern look.
Dawn froze and took the bag and dragged it up the stairs to her room.
"Well, she loves you better than me, I think." Elliot sighed half-jokingly "Bummer."
"Oh come on, she loves you more, it's a fact that-" Aurora stated but she was cut off
"Girls love their fathers more and boys love their mothers more," he dismissed "yeah I know."
Dawn ran back into the kitchen, tackling his dad this time, and Elliot almost fell if not for him holding onto the counter.
"Love you daddy!" She calmly said.
"How? What? We were just-…" Elliot questioned.
"Don't overthink it." Aurora giggled.
Elliot rolled his eyes and just patted his daughters head, slightly smiling.
"Love you too, sweetie." Elliot replied.
"Now! A story!" His daughter looked up from the hug, but isn't letting go.
"Let go of me first!" Elliot ordered warmly.
Dawn listened to the order, and stood there, staring into Elliot's eyes as she waits for him to tell her the story.
"well, I guess I should tell you, many many many days ago-" Elliot was about to start telling a story but Dawn cut him off.
"No dad! I want a story of you and mom!" She yelled, scolding her own father.
"Honey, talk to dad better," Aurora ordered softly as she pushed herself off the door frame, "I'm going to sit."
Aurora walked out of the room and into the living room, sitting on the couch.
"Fine, lemme tell you," Elliot stated, "uhm… so, where do you start?"
——————
I was at school, sitting on my desk, pretty excited because I just got a girlfriend.
I stare at my right, where Aurora's desk is, staring at it.
I'm gonna do everything I can to-
"Hey!" Aurora greeted as she sat down on the desk.
So damn cute! Calm down, calm down, girls love nonchalant and mysterious guys… no never mind that's cringe.
"Hi!" I greeted back, "Nice date last night, haha!"
I looked straight at her dark brown eyes, I wonder why her hair and eyes have an average color yet… she makes them so captivating.
"Heads over heals already?" She laughed, "Don't worry, I am the same too."
I immediately put my head on the desk and hid behind my arms, my face heating up.
At that moment, a tall, muscular guy walked up to Aurora's desk, leaning on it, the other girls staring at him with admiration and affection.
While almost everybody looked at him with a look of jealousy or a death glare, I feel the atmosphere crush my good mood.
"Hey Bryan," Aurora greeted indifferently, "here for more failed flirting?"
She then ripped out a paper out of her notebook, and began folding it into a plane.
"I wouldn't call it failed," Bryan laughed, "just call it… slow progress."
Aurora then wrote some stuff on the airplane.
"Yeah right, shut up, I don't care about you." She commented, the whole class gasped and let out a "oooh".
"Look, it's just about ti-" He was cut off by Aurora throwing the airplane at his face.
I watched Bryan's face scowl as he caught the airplane and read what was on it, his whole vibe changing into a killer one… I wanna go home…
"If I had to choose what animal you would be, I would choose a dolphin." He read, then he smirked, his aura going away, "See? Wait does that mean you think of as smart?"
"No, dolphins are literally jerks," she corrected, "they maybe smart but they are damn jerks."
His scowl face came back, his aura ready to kill a bear, I physically felt a crushing feeling in my lungs.
"Enough dude," I decided to intervene, "she isn't interested."
"Oh really?" His eyes locked onto mine, like a hawk finding it's prey, "oh, it's you. Nerdy idiot."
"Just ignore him, Elliot." Aurora suggested.
I nodded, but as I did, he smacked his hands on my desk, startling me, and then he lightly slapped me while smirking.
"I swear, if this girl wasn't protecting you," he threatened with a smile on his face, somehow, "You would end up a crying pulp."
I gulped at his threat, but suddenly he slapped me, and grabbed my hair and pulled it down towards the desk.
Thanks to my quick thinking I cushioned my head with my hands and began resisting against his grip.
"Elliot!" She screamed, "Let him go!"
Aurora got up and kicked him on the side. He didn't get harmed but he got distracted.
Now or never, any attack, any defense! The desk!
I pushed the desk towards him. Out of surprise, he let go of my hair and jumped back, glaring at me.
The desk then drifted to a stop as it tilted forward and fell down, making a loud thud and clang sound.
He then walked over the fallen desk and charged at me, but before he could reach me…
"WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?!" The teacher yelled as she walked in, slamming the door open.
And immediately, Bryan stopped, freezing in his place.
Cant let him get away! I lifted my hand and pointed at Bryan, and immediately he looked at me with a glare.
"BRYAN! OUT! TO THE PRICIPAL!" She yelled once again, seriously why is she always yelling?
Bryan reluctantly walked to the door and passed the teacher and walked out the room.
Finally! He left us alone! I look at Aurora who was looking at me with an affectionate and approving look.
And my good mood is back! Haha! Maybe I should invite her over? Oh right, tomorrow is Christmas, she might refuse, or her parents might at least.
Oh well, guess I'll have to wait until later to ask her.
