MHGA Chapter 267 — Kirin's Horn, Severed!!

Himmel's expression turned serious.

Kirin was no weak foe, so Himmel knew he had to unleash a portion of his true strength to deal with it.

At this range—he planned to drop straight in from the sky!

After briefly adjusting his position midair, Himmel pulled a spare shield from his backpack. Then—after aligning his stance—he stomped down on the shield.

Instantly, his entire body launched in the opposite direction with explosive force, while the shield flew off at terrifying speed—no telling how far it would go.

Laios widened his eyes at the sight of Himmel descending like a meteor. He yanked his grilled meat off the fire and dragged Tanjiro with him to the side.

Himmel, plummeting from the distant sky like a shooting star, landed on the battlefield with terrifying momentum. Laios and Tanjiro barely managed to get clear before a thunderous BOOM erupted behind them.

Himmel collided with Kirin using the shield from his Sword & Shield set, smashing directly into the beast's body.

The full power of a fully-fledged Hero was unleashed. In a single instant, the impact shattered the top floor ceiling of the tower they had battled on for so long, and the stunned Kirin plummeted uncontrollably downward.

Originally, Kirin had intended to twist its head and strike Himmel with a thunderous counter via its azure horn. But Kairo Retsu—still clinging to Kirin's back—suddenly found a burst of strength from who-knows-where, locked his hands around Kirin's neck, and forcefully tightened his grip on its jugular.

"%&…$#@…Come down with me!!" Kairo Retsu howled incoherently, unleashing a surge of power as he crushed Kirin's throat and pulled it downward with him.

And at that moment… beneath the plummeting Kairo Retsu and Kirin, the interior of the tower had been completely hollowed out.

That was what Naofumi Iwatani had been doing this entire time.

From the rooftop of Arasaka Tower all the way down to Mikoshi—after the top floor was breached—Kairo Retsu could now bring Kirin crashing straight through to the very bottom! Right into Mikoshi!

Just like when Johnny Silverhand and his crew had once attacked Arasaka Tower… and set off a nuclear bomb inside.

"Whinny—…" Kirin tried to let out a shriek of agony, but Kairo Retsu's burst of strength held the starving, depleted Elder Dragon firmly in check. Kirin couldn't break free and was dragged down with him from the tower's summit.

Midair, Kairo Retsu adjusted their angle of descent.

Eyes locked on the ground below, he flipped both himself and Kirin upside down. Then from deep within his throat, he roared:

"*&%… GIVE ME YOUR STRENGTH… EMPEROR NEWTON!!!"

From this height, falling toward Mikoshi, their bodies had accumulated an overwhelming amount of kinetic force.

And under Kairo Retsu's controlled descent, all of that force was concentrated—right on the single horn that would hit the ground first.

"%$#@—FEEL THE POWER OF GRAVITY!!"

With a furious scream, a crisp CRACK finally rang out in Kairo Retsu's ears.

He immediately extended his hand and grabbed hold of the fractured, translucent, lightning-condensed, ice-blue Kirin horn—finally releasing his grip from the beast.

The horn of the mythical Kirin… had at last been taken by a party of Hunters still clad in nothing but Low Rank gear!

Kairo Retsu, in the very next moment, saw the furious expression on Kirin's face—as if the creature wanted to eat him alive.

But he no longer had the strength to fight back—not that he had ever planned to.

He turned his head briefly while Kirin staggered back up from the ground… and spotted Joseph in the distance, who turned around and gave him a thumbs-up upon hearing the commotion.

Seeing that signal, Kairo Retsu knew Joseph had succeeded in his mission too.

So he turned back toward Kirin. Then, in a gesture of pure provocation, he lifted the severed horn to his mouth—and bit down hard.

The hardness. The numbing jolt. It sent shockwaves through his jaw and made his teeth ache. But that sensation—that was exactly the provocation he wanted.

Kirin might not understand human language—but…

It would understand this. There's a species that, upon reaching adulthood, breaks the horn of another Kirin to trigger its combat instinct.

Kirin would know. This was a provocation beyond words!

"Come on!" Kairo Retsu taunted, "You damn… rainbow pony!"

"WHINNYYYYYYYYYY—!!!" Kirin, now hornless, fell into complete madness. Thunderclouds immediately surged overhead, centered over the top of Arasaka Tower, surging with terrifying electricity.

And from the stump of the broken horn, uncontrolled lightning burst forth in torrents.

From the sky, a monstrous bolt of lightning descended—becoming a colossal pillar of light that pierced heaven and earth, a divine spear stabbing into the depths of Arasaka Tower.

"WHINNYYYYY—!!!!!"

As Kirin howled, the lightning expanded outward, centered on its body, and began annihilating everything nearby at incredible speed.

Kairo Retsu offered no resistance. With a smile of satisfaction, he admired the dazzling destruction before him.

This was the Pale Hoof… the embodiment of a natural disaster.

He and the other Hunters… had done all they could to reach this point. That alone was something to be proud of.

Kairo Retsu knew that one day, he and his fellow Hunters would each be strong enough to face monsters like this alone—because they were Hunters who never stopped challenging their limits.

Until then… doing his best was enough.

The rest—he would leave to the Celestial Sovereign.

The raging thunderstorm devoured the subterranean space in an instant, knocking out power across the entire area. A vast section of the city surrounding Arasaka Tower was plunged into darkness.

Kirin, having just released this devastating thunderstrike, was now weakened—but suddenly sensed a terrifying pressure descending from above.

The beast immediately raised its head—and saw a blue-haired young man, armed with a sword and shield, dropping straight down in front of it.

"They've already done everything they could."

Himmel landed with a warm smile. "These young Hunters have done their very best. Now… it's the old man's turn."

"It's time I got serious too."
