"You're saying… you're a demon?"
Hitagi Senjogahara had no idea how to respond.
A liar?
But come on, that kind of trick was way too clumsy.
Or was it… delusional?
She gave Edgar a pitying glance.
What a waste—such a handsome face, and yet.
Edgar: "…"
Why did it suddenly feel like he was being pitied?
"I'm telling the truth."
"Right, right, Mr. Demon. Could you please leave me alone now?" Senjogahara's tone was gentle, but still polite. "I just want to be by myself for a while."
"If you're looking to destroy the world, there's an anime convention around the corner."
Edgar sighed.
Of course she didn't believe him.
That was only natural.
Back in his previous life, if someone had told him the same thing, he would've thought they were completely out of their mind too.
After a pause, he snapped his fingers. A demon's contract book materialized in the air.
"Wow, incredible. Mr. Demon can even do magic tricks now."
Edgar twitched the corner of his mouth, but still handed the book over.
"If one day you ever need my help, just sign this contract."
Senjogahara instinctively accepted it, muttering under her breath, "This delusional really went all in."
Hearing Revel's call in the distance, Edgar turned to leave. "Remember to summon me when you need me."
With those words, he walked away.
Dusk.Edgar's villa.
After introducing Revel to his followers, Edgar finally got down to business.
"Master, what do you mean by… another world?" Eriri froze in place.
She hadn't been expecting much when he mentioned something serious. But after hearing the explanation, she was completely stunned.
Wait—was being one of his followers really this insane?
He could even take them to another world?
On the other side, Revel's eyes lit up with excitement.
Of course. This was Master.
Even traveling between worlds was within his reach. Being his follower really was the best.
"Naturally, an alternate world," Edgar said, patting Eriri on the head. "Strictly speaking, I'm even a king there."
"Seriously?" Eriri's excitement spiked.
Another world… what kind of place would it be?
She wasn't the only one worked up. Shiho Miyano and the others were just as restless—it was, after all, their very first otherworldly journey.
"Come with me."
Edgar led them into his room. "Everyone ready?"
Shiho and the others nodded, eyes full of anticipation.
Buzz.
"Mm-hm." ×N.
The glowing magic circle swallowed the entire room in light.
Moments later, their figures vanished.
The world of Akame ga Kill! Imperial Palace.
A flash of light.
Edgar and his group appeared out of thin air.
Najenda, who had already been treating this place as her office, rose immediately. Her gaze on Edgar was complicated.
Over this time, she had already spread the word: Master had perfectly delivered on his promise.
Now, she practically held absolute power in the Empire, having cleaned house from top to bottom.
What had once been an impossible dream—a government that actually ran clean—had somehow become reality.
Should she… really be fulfilling her duty as a servant?
Hot. Just the thought made her cheeks warm.
The glow of the magic circle faded completely.
A flurry of excited voices burst out around them.
"So this is another world?"
"These buildings… they kind of look like something out of the West."
"Wow, this place is gorgeous. Are we in a royal palace?"
Shiho Miyano and the others looked around, their faces full of excitement and curiosity.
But as the sound of approaching footsteps echoed from the distance, their attention shifted.
At the front, Esdeath and Leone strode in with the others close behind—servants from this world, gathered inside the palace.
So these were their master's other servants?
And of course, they turned out to be stunning girls, the sort you'd rarely see anywhere else.
Shiho and the rest scanned them quickly, and their gazes inevitably landed on Esdeath and Leone. Eyelids twitched.
Everyone knew it.
The stronger the servant, the more the master favored them.
Instinctively, they glanced downward, and an awkward heaviness sank in.
Those two… their "assets" were practically cheating.
First meeting, and already the servants from the original world were on the back foot.
A hostile aura seeped into the air. Shiho and the others could feel the malice pressing against them from this new world.
Esdeath, unfazed and elegant, stepped forward. "So you're the master's servants from another world. I'm Esdeath. From now on, we'll be comrades."
Shiho was the first to recover. "I'm Shiho Miyano. Just call me Shiho."
"Vermouth. A pleasure."
"I'm Akame. Nice to meet you."
"Asia…"
With introductions out of the way, at least the two groups had some names to put to faces.
Through bits of side talk, Akemi Miyano also picked up on something unsettling: most of the women here had already been devoured by the master.
Almost without thinking, her eyes flicked toward Najenda standing nearby. A faint sigh slipped past her lips.
So only she was left untouched.
But honestly… she probably wouldn't hold out much longer. The way she looked at Edgar—yeah, it wouldn't be long before she willingly crawled into his bed.
Sigh.
The competition was brutal.
One trip to another world and the pressure doubled overnight.
"Alright, seems like everyone's more or less acquainted."
Edgar's voice cut through, drawing all eyes toward him.
He could feel the quiet tension crackling beneath the surface, but he welcomed it.
If his servants didn't fight among themselves, where would the fun be for their master?
"I'm sure you all understand why you're here. This world is your chance to rack up real combat experience."
"So in a bit, you'll go with Esdeath. She'll assign you suitable opponents."
Training from Rias had helped Shiho and the others, sure. But real battlefield experience? They were sorely lacking.
Once Edgar finished giving out orders, the group scattered to their tasks.
Only Najenda remained behind.
"What is it, Najenda?" Edgar asked.
She gave a short nod. "I need to report on the empire's current state."
"Go on."
"First, most of the corruption within the empire has already been purged. But the revolutionary army… their activities are becoming more aggressive."
"Leave that to Esdeath,"Edgar replied flatly. To him, a swarm of ants was just a swarm of ants. Not worth notice.
"Understood. Next—research into Teigu has made some progress. But capturing the Danger Beasts we need is proving difficult. Ordinary troops are useless against them, and our manpower is stretched thin."
"That's easy enough," Edgar said. "We'll use those beasts as training targets for Shiho and the others."
Najenda's eyes lit up. That… was actually a perfect solution.
"Anything else?"
"Yes."
Najenda finally spoke. "Not long ago, Night Raid welcomed two new members."
"They've been wanting to meet you."
"That's the kind of news you should've led with," Edgar said casually. "Bring them in."
Najenda: "..."
Yep. Still the same master as always.
When Najenda returned, two figures trailed silently behind her.
One was a petite girl with twin ponytails, her expression sharp despite her small frame. The other was a tall, voluptuous woman with glasses, carrying herself with a composed, mature air.
"Greetings, Lord Edgar."
Both Mine and Sheele dropped to one knee the moment they saw him, lowering their heads in formal salute.
So it's them, Edgar thought, a faint recognition flashing in his eyes as he looked down at the two girls from above.
Under his gaze, Mine and Sheele's expressions shifted almost imperceptibly.
They might've just joined Night Raid, but even they knew the man before them was now the true ruler of the Empire.
The Empire was thriving, flourishing like never before. And it was all thanks to him.
Beyond that, they knew almost nothing. Only that Edgar's origins were shrouded in mystery, and that even the Empire's strongest, General Esdeath herself, bowed her head before him.
And for that kind of Empire, they wanted to serve. For the sake of the people, for the chance to change this twisted world.
Which meant showing respect. Never giving this man even the smallest reason for displeasure.
If the opportunity presented itself, they would've gladly proved their worth to him right here and now.But this wasn't the time.
Sensing the subtle tension in their hearts, Edgar's lips curved into a smile.
"You're both impressive. On behalf of Night Raid, I welcome you."
"I look forward to seeing your future accomplishments."
"Yes, Lord Edgar," the two answered in unison.
They exchanged a glance before withdrawing, calm and deferential.
Just like that?
Najenda shot Edgar a strange look. This… didn't feel like his usual style at all.
Meat delivered right to the table, and he just let it walk away?
"Why are you staring at me like that?" Edgar asked.
"Just… surprised, that's all."
"Is that so?"
His smile turned sly. "When it comes to eating fish, sometimes changing the way you prepare it makes the meal a lot more interesting, don't you think?"
Najenda: "..."
And then his gaze flicked toward her.
"Besides, isn't there already a fish in the pan right in front of me?"
"..."
