Chapter 267 - 257

"What happened?"

Bambietta took a closer look and found that her shoes were perfectly in place, her shirt zipper closed, and not even a speck of blood stained the floor.

"Am I hallucinating?"

Another sound echoed. Her shoe fell to the ground, her zipper unzipped, and the man before her was split cleanly in half-blood splattering across the ground.

Yet once the blood touched the floor, everything returned to the same scene again-the man with dark eyes stepping into the room for the first time.

"What happened?"

Bambietta finally realized that this wasn't normal.

"In that case... I'll just blow everything up!"

Her eyes gleamed with feverish excitement as she fired off several red energy bombs.

"Hey! Whoever you are, you won't be able to defend against my bombs! Come out now!"

No response came. Her shouting echoed through Silbern's empty streets.

"What's happening? Everyone! Where did everyone go?"

Bambietta scanned the silent city in disbelief. She couldn't sense any spiritual pressure at any distance. Silbern had become completely lifeless-a dead city frozen in time.

"Hello! Get out here right now! I know this is your fault!"

Her angry cry vanished into the hollow wind, unanswered by anything around her. Frustration built inside her chest. She stomped her foot hard on the stone ground again and again, explosions ringing through the deserted streets.

"If that's how it is... then I'll blow it all up!"

--

In the human world, Yuta sat calmly at one end of the long table, leisurely sipping hot tea. On the opposite end, Bambietta lay sprawled across the surface, her body twisting as if trapped in some kind of nightmare.

"I wonder what little Bambi's dreaming about," Yuta said softly to himself.

When he had entered the room earlier, he had already sealed her within his Bankai-butterfly dream. That ability belonged to one of the ancient Shinigami of ages past, capable of ensnaring anyone whose reiatsu was weaker than his own within its illusionary realm.

At this level, it was no longer mere illusion-it was the creation of another world entirely, vivid and impossible to distinguish from reality. Within it, the dreamer could experience torment or peace depending on the will of the caster.

Yuta hadn't intended to torture Bambietta excessively. He simply cast her into a world where time flowed hundreds of millions of times faster than the outside world. To him, only a heartbeat had passed. To her, billions of seconds had gone by.

--

After finishing his tea, Yuta decided it was time to release her. The butterfly wings that shimmered faintly at his back faded away, and the dream world collapsed within Bambietta's mind, pulling her back into reality.

Her body lay motionless on the table-limp and pale, resembling nothing but a discarded puppet.

"Dead?" Yuta frowned slightly. "No way..."

He cleared his throat. "Bambi."

No response followed. She didn't even flinch; her chest barely moved. Yuta leaned closer and gently lifted her eyelids with two fingers. Her pupils were dilated and unfocused-her consciousness seemed shattered, as though her will itself had collapsed.

It seemed the power of his Bankai was even stronger than he had imagined. Or perhaps, Bambietta's ferocity was only skin-deep-a childlike temperament hidden beneath that violent exterior. Someone that fragile couldn't endure the mental strain of Butterfly Dream for long.

Kenpachi-san would've torn the illusion apart and demanded another round. Her? She broke completely.

Yuta sighed softly, scratching his index finger with his thumb. A bead of blood welled up and fell into Bambietta's slightly parted lips. Her eyes flickered faintly-consciousness beginning to return.

Puff-

In the same instant she regained awareness, Bambietta's own reiryoku flared reflexively. A sword of reishi materialized and pierced straight through her own chest. Blood poured down the table's edge, staining the wood beneath her body.

"Enough pretending," Yuta said plainly. "Stand up."

Bambietta gasped for breath. Pain bloomed vividly across her chest-it wasn't illusionary. It was physical, blinding pain that tore at both body and soul. She began to cry without thinking.

"...Uu... uuuh..."

Tears mixed with blood at the corner of her mouth as she wiped them away with trembling hands.

It wasn't grief that made her cry-it was relief. Real pain felt almost merciful after what she had endured.

--

Inside the dream world, Bambietta had wandered for what felt like countless years.

In the first year, she destroyed Silbern itself-each explosion echoed with manic laughter.

"Ahaha! Did you see that? I blew up Silbern! Awesome!"

In the third year, she obliterated the entire Wandenreich-her excitement straining into hysteria.

"Okay, okay! The Invisible Empire's gone too! This world's too realistic, huh?"

For moments she felt faint sparks of loneliness creeping in-but she always forced herself to shake it off. She couldn't be lonely. She was Bambietta Basterbine. Destruction was her joy.

In the tenth year, she eradicated Soul Society-screaming each word as the explosions reduced Seireitei to ash.

"Ha! Every single Shinigami-gone! Hahaha!"

By the fifteenth year, she turned her bombs toward the living world. This time, her laughter didn't come back as easily.

"Humans too... fine. All of them die..."

Her hands shook when she threw the bombs now. Her words barely carried any emotion at that point.

"Are you really not coming out?" she whispered to the empty horizon. "Fine-I'll blow up Hueco Mundo next..."

By the twentieth year, Hueco Mundo was gone too. Nothing remained-only silence. The bombs floated endlessly through the darkness until their light faded completely.

Hundreds of years passed. Thousands. Tens of thousands. She had long lost count.

Eventually, Bambietta's body drifted aimlessly through the void-weightless and hollow. There was no one left to destroy. Nothing left to see or hear. Just the chill of emptiness that touched everything around her.

--

Back in the present, Yuta withdrew his blade from her chest with one smooth motion. Blood dripped lazily onto the floor.

"Wake up. Now that you've had your rest-"

Before he could finish, Bambietta's knees buckled, and she collapsed before him. Her wide eyes were glassy and terrified. She looked up with trembling lips and whispered hoarsely,

"I... I know I was wrong. Please... punish me however you want-but don't send me back there."

Her hands clenched tightly against her chest as she continued in desperation,

"I'll do anything you ask. Just... don't make me go back."

Yuta studied her for several seconds in silence. The defiance that once burned in her eyes was gone-completely extinguished. Whatever arrogance she'd carried as one of the Sternritter had been shattered inside that illusionary eternity.

It seemed his Bankai had broken not just her will but her spirit as well.
