Chapter 396 - Chapter 397: God Set

Unfortunately, the one hiding in the Forbidden Land was not the God Ancestor Rin had hoped for.

It was a burly, dark-skinned middle-aged man.

He wore a large amount of gold jewelry, and his entire attire resembled that of an Egyptian Pharaoh.

This Netherworld domain resembled a beautiful oasis in the desert.

Inside the golden palace at the center of the oasis, the man sat enthroned, glaring angrily at Diablo, who had intruded upon his Divine Country.

"You, why do you trespass into My Divine Kingdom?!"

"My name is Diablo, but you can also call me by my name in this world, Lucifer!"

As his voice fell, twelve pairs of black and white angelic wings unfurled behind Diablo.

"As for the purpose of my visit..."

"What do you think about sending the Heretic God who descended into the world back to myth?!"

"Arrogant!!!"

The dark-skinned man rose in fury. With a casual grasp, a giant obsidian axe appeared in his hand.

In the next instant, he stepped forward and appeared before Diablo.

"Clang!"

With the sound of clashing metal, the entire Divine Country trembled.

Unfortunately, the man's giant axe was blocked by a flaming Holy Sword of Dawn and could not advance even a step further.

"Lucifer, Lord of Hell, you should not have trespassed into My Divine Country!"

That brief clash was enough for the man to recognize that the other party had not lied.

With such strength, Diablo was undoubtedly a Heretic God.

"The blessing of the Divine Kingdom?"

Diablo remained unafraid.

"This is a good opportunity to witness how much amplification a Divine Kingdom gives to a Heretic God."

There was a significant difference between the strength of a Heretic God in the Netherworld and in the material world.

Especially when a Heretic God stood within their own constructed Divine Kingdom, their magicules would be greatly amplified.

Generally speaking, fighting Diablo inside someone else's Divine Kingdom would not be a wise choice.

According to the Campione World's classification of Heretic Gods.

The lowest were second-tier ordinary gods, followed by first-tier main gods, and then the ultra-first-class Divine King-level Heretic Gods.

As for the man standing before Diablo...

His name was Set, the god of the desert and storms in Egyptian mythology.

Of course, this was the Campione World.

So, God Set could never have only one identity.

But those details were irrelevant to Diablo.

As Rin's Subordinate God, Diablo's only goal now was to destroy the Divine Kingdom built by Set and force him to appear in the material world.

The Netherworld existed between life and death, making it impossible to truly determine a victor here.

"Boom!!!"

Still, the inability to decide a winner was one thing, but whether to fight or not was another.

The two stopped holding back and unleashed a world-shaking battle within the Divine Kingdom.

The commotion in the Netherworld even affected the great desert in the real world.

The earth trembled, yellow sand swept the sky, and the entire world seemed to be wrapped in a blood-red curtain.

Such a bizarre phenomenon instantly attracted the attention of Egypt's mystic circles.

However, the phenomenon came and went quickly.

The flow of time in the Netherworld was different from the outside world.

Especially during a battle between two Heretic Gods, time was completely under their control.

Neither Diablo nor Set could defeat the other.

They were equally matched.

"Crack! Crack, crack, crack!!!"

Just as Diablo was about to continue fighting Set, Testarossa forcibly entered the battlefield.

"Oh my, you look quite disheveled, Black."

"Is this really the time for sarcasm?"

Diablo sighed helplessly.

"My power is no longer what it used to be. For now, I really can't beat him."

In terms of strength, Set's combat power was no weaker than that of Zeus, who had been summoned earlier.

However, Diablo and Testarossa had become Subordinate Gods and given their power to Rin, which meant they could no longer use many of their ultimate techniques.

Without ultimate techniques, they lacked the decisive methods to determine victory.

This made them slightly passive.

"Hmm?"

On the other side, Set noticed the pure white goddess who had arrived.

Judging from her position, she was clearly allied with Diablo, forming a pincer attack.

Set was confident he wouldn't lose to Diablo, but facing two Heretic Gods of the same level, he couldn't guarantee he would come out unscathed.

This was his Divine Kingdom, managed for many years.

If he abandoned it, he would drift aimlessly in the Netherworld.

That alone wouldn't be too big of a problem.

But the real issue was that without the protection of the Forbidden Land, Set would be exposed to countless eyes.

Those witches and sorcerers with spiritual vision, under the dominion of the Earthly Demon King, had always been doing everything in their power to locate descending Heretic Gods.

Set had no intention of becoming their next target.

"You, who are you two really?"

Set couldn't see through either of them.

Diablo claimed to be Lucifer, but there was an odd sense of incongruity.

No, this wasn't Lucifer.

At least, it shouldn't be.

"You can call me Lilith."

"So that's how it is!"

Set understood.

"You two are gods from outside this realm, aren't you?"

The Campione World had the concept of multiverses and parallel worlds. Gods from different worlds showed certain distinctions.

So, Set suspected the two were not the Lucifer and Lilith of this world, but versions from other timelines.

"When did I ever offend you two?"

Set truly couldn't understand how he had provoked these two.

Why were they causing him trouble?

Set had been a descending Heretic God for several centuries now.

Unlike the tyrannical image described in myths, after his divine descent, Set hadn't destroyed Upper or Lower Egypt.

Instead, he had quietly hidden in the Netherworld and built his Divine Kingdom.

For centuries, he had remained low-profile.

At most, he stirred up sandstorms in the real world, burying those Travelers who approached his anchor points.

Don't think Set was cruel.

For a Heretic God, Set's behavior was already far more restrained than many of his berserk peers.
