Moonfire poured from Nymeria's body in violent waves.
Eryn's laughter died in his throat.
Waves of moonfire struck the Tideborns. Many of them staggered. Some were hurled backward.
Even Eryn was forced to raise an arm, shielding his face from the searing light.
Nymeria stepped forward and came to stand beside Thornak, who could only stare in stunned silence.
Her growl rolled across the battlefield.
"I am the Moonguard, Eryn. And I am your doom."
The sirens stepped back, their faces pale with fear. They had been told that Lara was weak — that her moonfire was gone and her wolf was lost forever.
But as the massive white wolf stepped forward, they realized they had been lied to. None of them had ever seen a beast like this. None had ever seen a white wolf, and her eyes burned with a power that made their blood run cold.
The "wolfless" girl they expected was gone. Standing before them was the Moonguard.
The battlefield erupted. Another war had begun.
