He stammered excuses, desperation rising, and I snapped,
"You said you booked two. Then why is it showing one here? You know, I keep telling you how dumb you are, but lately, you've been outdoing yourself. Two rooms, Avery. Two. So why is one showing up? Are you sure you even booked two? Or are you just trying to hide how stupid you are again?"
Inside, a dark satisfaction stirred.
This was my doing—I'd sneaked into his room last night while he slept soundly, and changed the booking to one suite.
It was successful because his phone wasn't locked with a passcode so all I had to do was to change the booking to just one room.
All to force this proximity, to break down the barriers.
And now, after all that risk, he was rejecting it outright, insisting he didn't like me, didn't want to share space with me.
It was so annoying, this push-pull, but I couldn't let it show.
