Velithra brought the notebook the next day.
Kai noticed it immediately when she sat beside him.
"You're serious about this plan thing," he said.
She opened the notebook and flipped to a blank page.
"I told you," she replied. "No regrets."
He leaned closer, curious.
At the top of the page she wrote in careful handwriting:
Before June 1st
Kai smiled a little. "That sounds dramatic."
"It's practical," she corrected.
She handed him the pen.
"First idea."
He stared at the page for a moment.
"So this is a list of… things we want to do?"
"Things we'll wish we had done if we didn't," she said.
Kai thought.
Then he wrote the first item.
1. Watch the sunrise together
Velithra tilted her head. "You hate waking up early."
"Exactly," he said. "That's why it's on the list."
She laughed softly.
"Fair."
She took the pen and added another.
2. Visit the old lake trail
Kai raised an eyebrow. "I've never even been there."
"That's the point."
He nodded approvingly.
"Alright. Your turn again."
Kai tapped the pen against the paper.
"Hmm."
Then he wrote slowly.
3. One full day with no phones
Velithra looked impressed. "That's ambitious."
"Are you saying you can't do it?"
"Oh, I can," she said confidently.
"Then it stays."
She added another item underneath.
4. Tell each other one truth we've never said before
Kai read that line twice.
"That one's dangerous," he said.
Velithra shrugged lightly.
"No regrets."
He couldn't argue with that.
They sat there for a while, adding more things.
Small things.
Meaningful things.
Nothing expensive or dramatic.
Just moments.
When they finished, Kai leaned back and looked at the list.
Eight items now.
Eight experiences before June.
He glanced at Velithra.
"You know what I like about this?"
"What?"
"None of these are about saying goodbye."
She closed the notebook gently.
"That's because this isn't a goodbye list."
Kai studied her.
"Then what is it?"
She smiled faintly.
"It's proof that our time matters."
He felt that settle somewhere deep in his chest.
For the first time, the future didn't feel like a ticking clock.
It felt like a series of moments waiting to happen.
Kai nudged her shoulder.
"So when are we doing number one?"
Velithra looked up at the sky thoughtfully.
Then back at him.
"Tomorrow morning."
Kai blinked.
"Tomorrow?!"
She grinned.
"You said no regrets."
He groaned dramatically.
"I already regret agreeing to wake up early."
But he was smiling.
And for the first time in a while—
The future felt exciting again.
