TOWNSVOLK LIBRARY.
That's what it said on the huge sign that lay outside this massive building, that David had led then to. Both Melissa and Chuck were excited, and Lin couldn't care less.
Chuck: Can we go in????
David: Of course!!
Chuck jogged in happily, expecting to find himself amidst tons of books. Melissa quickly followed him, but knocked into a tiny kid on the way. David rushed to her side and helped the kid back up and asked if he was okay. The kid just nodded and continued it's journey back to wherever he came from. Melissa brushed aside the dust on her jacket and walked in again.
Chuck stood in the middle of the hall, mouth open in awe. Everywhere he looked he saw books. Books of various sizes, fiction and non fiction. Languages that he knew and didn't. An absolute treasure trove for someone like him, or his uncle Matthew.
Chuck: WOAHHH!!
As he stared upward in pure amazement, he heard a "shhhhh" and he turned to see the librarian, who was an old woman in her 50s, wearing a red lined glasses. She had a mole under her aging chin. Her face still regained her youth, despite beginning to wrinkle.
Librarian: You need to be silent, when you are inside the library!!
She told him off in a stern, yet quiet manner, terrifying Chuck. It reminded him of his friends' mom during his time in the village. He just quietly nodded. David walked in and turned to the librarian with a smile. The librarian who had a scowl on her face immediately reciprocated the gesture with a smile.
David: Isabella!! Long time!!
Isabella: David, my boy! It indeed has been some time!! How is Sachika doing? Haven't been here in a month!
David: She is doing fine....you know how she is..always tinkering with something...
Chuck just waited in the hallway waiting for permission from David for some reason. David realised it, since he did have a younger brother his age back then.
David: You can go, Chuck. Find whatever book you need..
Isabella: That kid with you...?
David: Yeah...these two too!
David pointed at both Lin and Melissa. Isabella just quietly nodded. There were multiple floors in the library, and was much larger than the one in the Dome. And it was in languages that Melissa understood, contrary to the ones in the library in the Dome. She followed Chuck as he silently scurried on the ground floor.
David: And...what're you gonna do? Do you read?
David asked the question to the extremely bored warrior with blades. Isabella was concerned about him carrying weapons, but paid it no need, as Lin was a guest of David, a close friend of hers.
Lin: I will just....wait over there...
Lin just walked up to the corner of the room, which had a chair and sat back down and closed his eyes. To David, it looked like Lin was completely avoiding him, probably because of the humiliating defeat he dished out.
At the other end of the library, Chuck was talking to Melissa.
Chuck: I wish I get to see a new Eternal Tome here. And if I can buy it, even better...!!
Melissa seemed lost in her own thoughts, so Chuck tapped her hand.
Chuck: Hey, what's wrong??
Melissa: oh...Nothing..it's just...that woman was named Isabella. I just know someone with that name...
Melissa smiled slightly, then looked at Chuck's confused face.
Melissa: It's nothing!! Anyway, how do you plan on finding it?
Chuck snickered to himself and pulled out the huge Eternal Tome of Fireflies.
Chuck: I'll just ask the Fireflies to find the Tome if it is here...!!
Melissa: Oh...you didn't check it from outside? Why?
Chuck: Well, I've discovered that it had limits...
Melissa: Limits..?
Chuck nodded and continued his explanation.
Chuck: Well, back in the castle of Dread, I tried using it to find the key, but it only pointed me to the room it was in, rather than the actual key. So it doesn't necessarily point at it, but shows its' general location. But it also has a maximum range that I haven't yet measured. I tried finding my book back in my village before we departed and the fireflies pointed to my house, but I tried that again once we got on the Dome, but it didn't even work. So I guess we need to be in some sort of range for it to locate stuff!
After the hefty long explanation, Melissa understood why he was waiting to get in the library to test out his book. He opened the Firefly Tome and spoke to it.
Chuck: Find me an Eternal Tome, if it exists in this library, other than the one that I'm holding..
The fireflies would only pop out of it found anything in it's surroundings that matched the description given by it's owner. Suddenly in a bright flash of light, the fireflies popped out of the ink and started flying upwards to the fourth floor of the large library. Max grinned, revealing all his white teeth.
Isabella noticed the sudden surge of fireflies in her library.
Isabella: What the!
Even David was confused on how fireflies sprung out in the middle of the room in the middle of the night.
Chuck: YES!! Got it!! I'm going! You coming?
Melissa shook her head.
Melissa: No, I'm fine. You go ahead. I have some book I wanna check out, over here..
Chuck nodded at her.
Chuck: Okay fine...I won't take long...!!
Chuck started running towards the stairs trying to climb to the fourth floor, unable to hide his excitement. Isabella noticed him running and almost shouted at him, but Chuck immediately slowed down, trying not to anger her. As soon as he got out of her sights, he started running again. She sighed and gave David a side eye. David nodded nervously and slowly walked to the stairs, trying to be with the kid.
Outside, the kid ran into three armoured individuals wearing a white cross over the red cloth on the armour. They all looked menacing. These three "knights" just stared down at the kid, instantly terrifying him. One of them smiled at him.
???: Have you seen a red haired woman nearby, kid??
The kid remembered the woman he ran into a few minutes ago. So the kid pointed at the library, indicating that she was in there.
???: Good boy!
The knight patted his head and then looked at the two comrades behind him.
???: Looks like it IS her. Shall we go?
Both: Yes!
And the three knights walked towards the Library in the darkness of the night.
