Ren pushed through the revolving doors of the Dungeon Division headquarters, the sterile scent of lavender-infused air conditioning hitting him like a cold slap. Luxy trailed half a step behind, her slippers clicking in that lazy, arrogant rhythm that always made clerks flinch.
"Amanda's on break again," the receptionist said before Ren could even open his mouth. "I heard she won't be here for a while."
Ren exhaled through his nose. "Of course she is. This is the fourth time we came to meet her and got no clear answer where she is."
Luxy snorted, twirling a lock of blonde hair around her finger. "Your little detective is dodging you hard. Do you think this a coincidence? She started dodging you like this right after we got her files?"
Ren thought hard about what Luxy just said. "She's definitely onto something if she's pulling the 'on break' card this often. Amanda I know doesn't do breaks. She does coffee and spite."
