"So you're telling me that there is a spell that backfired on her? The most powerful witch in existence couldn't control her own spell?" I ask Tristan, disbelief evident in my voice.
Tristan smiled knowingly. "Yes indeed. And let's say "couldn't control" is an inaccurate term."
I raise my eyes and tilt my head in question. Tristan sighs. "There are some rules of nature that one cannot absolutely break no matter how powerful they are. Death is that one rule. If the time has come, it's inevitable. And if someone tries to awaken the dead, then they will have consequences to bear. ".
He continues after a long pause. "She tried to wake the prince up with her magic. They say that after she found him bleeding and dead, she didn't let anyone touch his dead body—not even his own father or mother or the pack. She took it with her and exhausted her magical powers to try to wake him up, but she couldn't. So she resorted to, or rather invented, a spell—the shadow resurrection spell."
