Chapter 422 - The Courageous Happiny

Chapter 422:

"Mhm, mhm, of course, of course."

That was completely normal.

After all, as the main company selling egg products, they naturally wouldn't want another competitor in their market.

Moreover, their request was simply to not mass-produce, not that he couldn't sell at all.

That was perfectly reasonable.

But actually, Kaede had no intention of selling any Blissey egg products anyway.

Because he already had so many Pokémon of his own. He probably wouldn't have enough for himself to eat, so how could he possibly sell any?

"Auntie can rest easy then. You can go choose your own little Happiny~" Rosalie's mom seemed to relax, then a content smile appeared on her face.

"Come on, come on, Kaede, let me show you! From here to there, the ones furthest inside were born earlier. But 'earlier' still means they hatched within the last few days."

"But the older Happiny have already found their own stones. The younger ones are still searching."

Seeing her mom finish with the notes, Rosalie quickly took over the introduction.

Among the Happiny here, some were already holding stones, while others weren't.

This was a pretty important point for Happiny.

Normally, a Happiny would temporarily hold the Lucky Egg given by its mother after birth. But soon, it would look for its own preferred stone and polish it into a round shape.

While there wasn't specific research yet on why it holds a stone right after birth, there was speculation that holding a round stone helped it lay eggs better after evolving.

Of course, there wasn't solid scientific proof yet.

But for Kaede, choosing a Happiny didn't involve that many considerations.

He didn't even activate his [Eye of Exploration].

Instead, he walked to the front of each "crib."

Looking into the innocent, slightly bewildered eyes of these little ones, he beckoned with his hand.

Generally, when Pokémon are first born, their awareness isn't very clear. Many sensory actions are completed by instinct.

These newborn Happiny were the same.

Most of them just stared blankly at Kaede's beckoning, unsure what to do.

Kaede didn't mind and moved to the next "crib," repeating the action.

He wanted to find a Happiny that liked his presence.

Without using his Aura abilities, of course.

But this process didn't last long.

When he reached the third "crib" and simply beckoned lightly, one Happiny stirred, then ran over on its little pink legs.

It had a long tuft of hair on its head, tied up with a slightly darker, bun-like pink ball. Its forehead had three small, bun-like bumps. Its eyes were pure black, almost reflective, without any other color.

It held a small white egg in its arms, nestled in the pouch-like apron and its hands. Its cheeks had a ring of blush.

Although it is a newborn, Happiny's height and weight weren't little at all.

It was a full 0.6 meters tall, and its weight, even without the stone, was more than Alolan Ninetales...

Seeing it move, Kaede beckoned again.

This time, before the other Happiny could react, it hurried over, opened its little mouth, supported the egg with one hand, and placed its other hand on Kaede's outstretched palm.

"Good, you're the one!"

Seeing this, Kaede immediately took its hand and scooped it up.

This little one, once picked up, didn't panic at all despite not fully understanding. It even smiled.

"Fwaa fwaa~"

"Young Master Kaede really is well-liked by Pokémon."

Seeing that Kaede merely beckoned to the Happiny without saying a word, and one immediately followed, Rosalie's mom couldn't help but marvel.

"Maybe this Happiny is just more outgoing." Kaede chuckled.

Holding the Happiny, he playfully tugged at the tuft on its head, making the little one curiously look at its own tuft, occasionally shaking its head, letting out soft, gentle giggles.

"Fwaa fwaa..."

"So, how much will it be?"

"Never mind, never mind. Kaede's Moomoo Milk helped our Rosalie's Larvitar so much. Besides, this Happiny likes you. Just take it home."

"Ah... Okay then. Thank you." Kaede didn't stand on ceremony.

"Well then, I'll take the Happiny home."

"Mhm, mhm. It's not mealtime yet, so we won't keep you for a meal."

"Hehe, just wait, Kaede. My first stop on my journey will be challenging your Sky Challenge!"

"That depends on how far you can get!"

"Definitely the third... no, the enhanced second stage... I'll be there soon!"

...

By the time they came out, the sky had clearly brightened.

After saying goodbye to Rosalie and recalling Pidgeot, Kaede took out a Poké Ball and spoke to the Happiny in his arms. "We'll be flying in the sky soon. How about you go into the Poké Ball for a bit, Happiny?"

Although this Happiny was only a few days old, Kaede was surprised to find it could understand most of what he said.

After checking its info, he had a guess.

[Pokémon: Happiny]

[Gender: Female]

[Type: Normal]

[Ability: Serene Grace]

[Aptitude: Red]

[IVs: HP (31) Attack (3) Sp. Atk (12) Defense (16) Sp. Def (27) Speed (17)]

[Level: 1-3]

[Moves: Pound, Copycat, Defense Curl, Gravity, Metronome]

[Friendship: 40]

[Happiness: 35]

Besides the basic moves Pound, Copycat, and Defense Curl, this Happiny had actually inherited a Psychic-type move: Gravity.

[Gravity: Creates intense gravity for five turns.Temporarily preventing Pokémon with the Levitate and Flying-type abilities from using Flying-type moves, while also making them vulnerable to Ground-type moves.]

Inheriting a Psychic-type move meant the Blissey that gave birth to it possessed Psychic-type energy itself.

So, it made sense for the born Happiny to be a bit smarter.

"Fwaa fwaa?"

Happiny looked at Meowscarada beside it, then at the suddenly appearing large bird. It wasn't scared at all. Placing its stone inside its pouch, it suddenly stretched both hands towards Pidgeot. "Fwaa fwaa..." (Big bird, big bird...)

Its little mouth opened in a smile, seeming completely unafraid.

"You want to ride Pidgeot too?" Kaede asked, surprised.

"Fwaa~!" (Yes... yes...)

This time, Happiny's meaning was clear. It nodded directly.

"Well then..."

Kaede didn't say more, just inwardly sighed. He never expected it to be such a courageous little Happiny.
