Chapter 179 - Making a point

I reappeared a couple kilometers away inside the forbidden forest that I checked over before finding it good enough. I opened a contact with David again and had him "trade" me over in exchange for helping Grindelwald. I didn't want time in exchange since I wouldn't be able to use it at the moment and took a few storage chips instead. Naturally payment would come only after my work was done.

"Alright so where is he? My observation doesn't put him anywhere near the city." I asked with a frown after arriving in that world.

"Yeah he's out east, way into the badlands." David said anxiously.

"How did you know he was in trouble then? Grindelwald wouldn't get any implants or use any of your technology." I asked confused.

"Mierda. There's no one in Night city who doesn't know! The fights all over every channel and there are even chooms live streaming it from the battle site, check it." Jackie who was nearby said as he pulled it up on a terminal screen.

I looked at the screen and frowned at what I saw. When David said the corporations sent an army I thought he meant a few squads. Like in the game where it's really only like forty or fifty people at most, I was mistaken.-

The corporations sent a literal army after the old man. Not a big one but there had to be at least four or five hundred people surrounding the small patch of greenery Grindelwald was guarding with the zealous ferocity of a honey badger in a bad mood. I frowned deeply when I noticed a big problem however. He wasn't using his most powerful and destructive spells but focusing almost entirely on defense and counters for the rather extreme force being thrown at him.-

"He's holding back." I said seriously.

"You're fucking with us!? THAT'S holding back!?" David exclaimed in shock.

"Yes and no. No because he really is giving everything to protect that little patch of green but yes because he's not using his most destructive spells for that exact reason. He can't without destroying the very thing he's trying to defend." I explained gravely.

"Dios mia, that's one badass old man. Like the legends of old." Jackie whispered with an awed look on his face.

"Something like that. He's getting tired though, you can see it in the way his posture is slipping. He's too proud to do that unless he was at his limit and couldn't spare the effort to maintain it. I will give him some breathing room." I said before elementalizing and traveling through the electrical system before going up the antenna on the roof and into the sky.

I shot eastward with my haki fully unleashed and soon found the site of the battle. I had to admit that the corporations weren't stupid, just wasteful. They weren't just throwing bodies at the old man but tactically bombarding him from all sides so he was forced to divert his attention to cover all of these attacks.-

They also weren't fully trying to kill him, but rather capture him at all costs. The bullets were all suppression rounds and the grenades were stunning or knockout varieties. Not to discredit the man himself who I might add looked fifty years younger than when I last saw him, but the corporations probably could have killed him long ago if they wanted to. None of the big highly destructive stuff was being sent at him, no tanks, not rockets, no mountain busters.-

I crashed down as a bolt of lightning right next to Grindelwald causing a slight pause in the incoming fire. The man himself looked at me with confused tilt of his head.

"Fifty years must have rotted your brain old man. This is just a patch of land, there are plenty of others." I said chastising him.

"Don't lecture me boy. I know this single patch of land isn't worth dying for. The point of this was letting these muggle dogs know that the world is not theirs, not anymore." he said firmly.

"Then stop playing with your food and send the bloody message already. All this is doing is making them take you lightly." I said annoyed.

"I was going to eventually but since you are here why don't you do it? It'll make a stronger impression." he said with a familiar twinkle in his eyes.

"Ugh, you and that other old man were made for each other. Fine, kick back and watch the show." I said with a roll of my eyes.

I took my spear from it's resting place under my bandages on the back of my palm and extended it to it's full size. The corporate soldiers changed their tunes real fast at this and actual lethal measures were sent my way as I walked into the empty space between them and the patch of green Grindelwald made.-

I just grinned as the bullets and grenades struck me only to fail to even scratch me as they passed right through. I raised my spear pointed high and spun it slowly. Dense clouds formed overhead and darkened as lightning crackled within them and the wind howled. I kept spinning my spears tip in the air and the summoned storm churned violently and was quickly spreading as it rapidly went from thunderstorm to tropical storm and then to hurricane as I pushed my fruits power to my current limit.

I brought the butt of my spear to the ground with a loud "crack!" and drew the storms raw electrical power down to it's tip all at once. Using this raw lightning as fuel I began to expand my body in elemental form until I stood over fifty meters tall. My spear and I glowed pale blue and with a wide sweeping swing of my arm I wiped out the entire gathered army while tearing apart and vulcanizing the sands from sheer heat into a massive crescent moon shaped glass arc.-

"Point made, now go back already." I said looking down at Grindelwald before shooting up into the clouds and back to Night city.
