Kyrian walked back to the small courtyard where he had rented a temporary residence, his footsteps echoing softly against the ancient stones that paved the deserted streets.
The night in the Sky Caravan had become much quieter than a few hours earlier, as if the city itself were exhaling a tired sigh after days of uninterrupted festivities.
The streets that during the day seemed to never sleep, filled with cultivators, merchants, and curious onlookers, were now illuminated mainly by spirit lanterns suspended in the air. Their soft glow created a path of light that guided the few passersby who still wandered around.
Some shops were still open, their half-open doors allowing golden beams of light to escape, and from time to time Kyrian heard the distant sound of conversation or music coming from some tavern. Echoes of a night that had not yet ended for everyone.
