Natasha tried to sneak in close with a Widow's Sting electric strike. Powerful current crackled over Black Dwarf's rock-like skin, but all it did was make his muscles twitch slightly before he casually swatted her away with one slap, like flicking a fly.
"Not bad, little bugs," Black Dwarf laughed cruelly. "But you're still not enough to even scratch me!"
He raised his massive chain hammer Ruin high once more. The engine core at the head of the hammer roared to life, spinning at high speed and howling like a beast, radiating even more terrifying heat. This time, his target was—the already-cracked support point of the main bridge tower itself!
"No!"
Watching that hammer come down toward the steel beams, Steve felt his heart sink to rock bottom. There was no time.
Right then—
"…guuuluuuluu…"
A strange sound threaded through the explosion of flames, the crash of metal, the screech of sirens, and the screams of panicked people, cutting cleanly across all the chaos and standing out as clear as day.
It sounded like… a stomach growling in extreme hunger?
Black Dwarf's hammer swing froze for a one-hundredth of a second. His huge head turned slightly, puzzled, following the sound.
Not far behind the bridge tower was the junction where the ramp from the bridge met the fork leading into the warehouse district. Against a backdrop of thick smoke and blazing fire, a bald figure in a cheap off-white suit, red gloves, and a pair of comically white boots was slowly walking along the edge of the ramp.
In his left hand he carried a cheap plastic convenience store bag with a cup noodle container inside. In his right hand was a half-eaten rice ball. He seemed very focused on walking, head down as he ate, paying absolutely no attention to the hellscape in front of him—overturned vehicles, burning barricades, cracked pavement, and a towering alien monster. To him, it all might as well have been nothing more than a slightly messy path through a park.
It was Saitama, who had just bought his cup noodles at the convenience store and was now looking for somewhere to add hot water and eat.
The ramp had been blasted by Black Dwarf's earlier hammer blow, leaving the surface shattered and sunken, forming several deep pits. Saitama happened to reach a spot where the largest depression and a nearby burning pile of garbage blocked his way forward.
He stopped, looking at the smashed road and the flames ahead, his brow furrowing as he muttered with clear irritation:
"Ah… the way's blocked."
His voice was full of the annoyance of someone whose path to food had just been interrupted.
Stuffing the rest of the rice ball into his mouth, he chewed while glancing left and right, as if searching for a way around the obstacles. Finding none, he finally lifted his head, and his gaze landed on the three-meter-tall stone giant standing squarely in the middle of the path, holding a giant chain hammer glowing with ominous red light.
Saitama tilted his head slightly, his eyes showing a bit of confusion, as if he were staring at a huge pile of garbage bags dumped across the sidewalk blocking his way home… or, more importantly, blocking his route to hot water for his cup noodles.
Still chewing, he spoke, his words muffled:
"Hey, move. You're in the way."
This "request," completely lacking any respect, and even tinged with impatient shooing, reached Black Dwarf's ears loud and clear.
"HUH?!!"
Black Dwarf's massive rock head seemed to short-circuit for a moment. Move aside? This tiny bug, whose bio-energy barely even registered… wanted the great Black Dwarf to move?
A tidal wave of fury surged up, washing away what little reason he had left. The humiliation of Thanos-sama's flagship being sent flying by a single punch, the resentment from being quietly looked down on by Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight—every last bit of it erupted, all of it aimed squarely at the clueless bald guy in front of him.
