Chapter 67 - Contract Never Ends

Mr. Wolfe and Matthew glared at each other for a moment with eyes that were throwing flames in fury. Before I spoke anything, Mr. Wolfe lunged at Matthew, shouting, "How dare you!"

Matthew fell to the ground after receiving a hard punch from Mr. Wolfe.

"You don't have the right to touch her." Mr. Wolfe shouted.

Instead of hitting him back, Matthew laughed out loud, like a man losing his sanity and welcoming the inner demons to take control over him.

"Here comes the great Wolfe." Matthew stood straight, wiping the blood from his lips. "I don't have the right?" He continued to laugh, which only provoked Mr. Wolfe. "Then who has? You? Come on, to touch her you need a contract…" Matthew stepped towards him, angrily, and stood in front of him, saying, "Without the fucking contract, you can't even touch her, Mr. Wolfe, but not me. I don't need any contract to touch her or kiss her or even…"

Mr. Wolfe held his collar and warned him with his serious gaze, but Matthew didn't stop. At the moment he had lost everything, and it seemed he was willing to lose even his life.

"Why? Because she gave her consent to me a long time back. You may enjoy her as long as the contract lasts, but what if the contract ends?" Matthew continued to laugh. "She may choose you out of fear, but she never willingly chooses you. She'll eventually come back to me. You will get to know it one day."

Scared, I tried to drag Mr. Wolfe back, but he didn't move. They continued to challenge each other with their eyes.

Mr. Wolfe shouted, "Listen, you fool! I get whatever I want, unlike you. Either things or people." He gritted his teeth. "What did you say? If the contract ends?" He also started to laugh like a maniac, which started to increase my fear. "As long as I want, the contract never ends."

His last words shook me to the core. Even though those words were spilled out in anger, I felt the weight of it. Mr. Wolfe was not the man to spew nonsense just because he was angry. If he said something, he meant it, and it frightened me.

For a moment, I doubted he had done all the things because he wanted me to extend the contract. And, in the future, if he again wanted me to extend the contract, what might he do? He couldn't possibly create the situations to get me to extend the contract.

But… would he?

Mr. Wolfe threw a punch at him again and warned, "You lost everything. If you don't want to lose even your life, stay away from her."

He then held my hand and dragged me out of the building angrily while Matthew's words continued to revolve in my head. My chest felt heavy, and controlling my emotions started to become a challenge to me.

I wanted to be alone and let out all my emotions somewhere. I didn't want to wait when my head started to explode.

Taking my hand back from Mr. Wolfe's grip, I said, "I will come. You go ahead."

I didn't wait for his reply but ran to the other side, ignoring the rain that drenched me. He didn't let me go further and held my hand, stopping me.

"Where do you think you are going?" He shouted, seriously. "We are leaving."

"No!" I shouted, taking my hand away. "Please leave, Mr. Wolfe."

Deliberately, I walked into the rain, as I knew he wouldn't step any further, as he hated getting drenched in rain.

But I was wrong. He totally ignored it and ran after me shouting, "Elira!"

When he held my hand, I said, "You are also getting drenched in rain. Leave."

"Elira!" He gritted his teeth. "Don't make me angry."

"Angry? It's always about you, your anger, and your emotions. What about me?" I started to cry. "I am losing my mind here."

My sobs got louder, which seemed to shock him.

"I am an idiot. It all happened because of me." I shouted, at the same time, crying.

He didn't speak at all but let me cry, and he simply stood in front of me while I hit his chest, letting out my emotions.

"It's all my fault. My fault." I broke down.

He pulled me closer while I tried hard to go away from him. Finally, I gave up and let myself hide between his arms, sobbing. His big arms that wrapped around me started to pat my back as a silent comfort.

"Shh! Calm down."

I continued to cry, blaming myself for all the things that happened.

"I am such a selfish person. I am someone who brings trouble to people I care about."

Without breaking the hug, he continued to say, "You are wrong. The only good person here is you, Elira. It's not your fault. You put others first; even now, you extended the contract only to be treated like this. If I were you, I'd have smashed his face right then and there. You have the strength that normal people wouldn't have. Don't forget that."

I raised my head to look at his face covered with raindrops. He was totally drenched just like me, and it surprised me to hear his comforting words, standing in the rain, which he hated.

I wanted to yell at him for putting me in situations that broke me but then again for offering the comfort, which I needed the most, to heal me. But no words came out of my mouth. I simply took a step back from him and started to walk towards the car.

He calmly followed me, and once we reached the car, we drove off. After we reached the villa, he stopped at the main hall and kept his gaze on me while I took my steps toward my bedroom. I took the stairs while recalling Matthew and Mr. Wolfe's words. I stopped in my tracks when I recalled Mr. Wolfe's words about the contract.

"I am stuck with you forever, aren't I?"

I looked at him only for him to switch his gaze and walk away, which gave me the answer.

The contract wouldn't ever end easily.
