"H-Hold on is that the- the black haired woman with that heavy accent?"
"H- Wait, isn't that the Gabri girl? The one that looks identical to that lady?"
What are they talking about? I kept my head forward as I listened to the whispers. Someone that looks like me? Now that's a little interesting..
There's only a few people, well two. This body's mother and grandmother… Well the last she saw them. It was definitely weird, a sixty year old lady looking young. I'd say some women can be jealous of that.
Her mother was an odd sight, she always had a weird smell all over her body. She was always covered in full clothes even in the heat. Rarely did she go out too, the only person that brought her out was her dad.
"Nevermind that's the Gabri girl. She's always lost in thought." Someone's words broke my thought process. They flinched when I turned over. Good, they know that was rude to say even if it was true.
If people didn't stare at me then I'd look focused on the damn road! After a few seconds I rolled my eyes and looked forward.
"At least it's not the normal." I mumbled as I got to the gate.
"E- Oh— the Gabri girl huh?" One of the guardsmen jumped at the sight of me. "Sorry, Miss Yukina."
"Why does everyone jump when they see me?" I asked whilst raising my eyebrow at him. Even their whispering doesn't tell me.
"Um… Well… You see there's this other black haired wolfkin… Who looks exactly like you." The handsome guard next to him pointed at me.
Another black haired wolfkin?
The handsome guard pointed at my eyes and continued. "She has the same purple in her eyes, and an injury on her left eye."
I stared at him blankly, there was only one who could be that person…
"Did she have a mole under her lip? And look slightly older than me?"
"Mhm, we thought it was you, you know since we haven't seen you for a few weeks… Oh!" The other guard brought his finger up like he realized something. "She was hard to understand… and her adventurer's id was sketchy. It said she was sixty-three years old."
"Um, Miss Yukina, what's with that look? Do you know her?"
"Uhh… Yeah… Just tell her the person she's looking for is doing okay."
That's this body's grandma. Yuko… The memories… tell me she was too strict with the original Yukina.
Even though I never met her, just the thought caused my heart to tighten. Never thought she'd come to ard… Hah…
Anyways, I told them the truth before going on my merry way. That lady was the original body's grandmother; I don't know her goal, but…I don't want to meet her.
My normal routine was done when I walked back home. I had lunch, another stroll around town and dinner. Practice with my magic, then head to sleep. This is a routine I made when I needed to get my mind off the memories that come.
It wasn't… effective, but it was better than laying there in bed. After once more, the day came of the banquet.
The house was lively, everyone was up and ready before I got to the kitchen. James looked quite handsome in his suit, Verschund was showing off to Zephy; even those two were dressed up.
Allisa and Melinda ushered me to get in mine; physically pushing me out. However, it fell on my deaf ears. Like hell I'll wear it! Even if it was comfortable— I'll put it on before the actual banquet.
"You'll actually wear it?!" Was Allisa's exclamation. I regrettably nodded my head. I really don't want to wear a dress. I'm already slightly embarrassed by wearing a bra.
But it's true… I am getting less stares mainly by guys. Some women, some were in disgust.
Anyways, we skipped breakfast. There's going to be a welcoming to the foreign demi-gods and Shen. Valda, and my dad.
Streamers were hanging from house to house at the gate. There were hushes of excitement from the townspeople. People were all dressed up; even the poorest looking ones…
We managed to snag a spot near the front— not managed… the heads beckoned us over.
Way too many people…
They brought a lot of guards; one scares the living hell out of me.
Each time I look at her, my heart jumps a few beats and my head starts to swim. And it seemed like every time I moved, she knew where I went.
Despite her height… and soft appearance, it felt like I was being stared down by Lorraine. Her cold yellow, emotionless eyes locked onto me. I could smell she was like me; a wolfkin, but she felt like… a monster. If I made one wrong move, I'd lose my life.
"Evol, you need to keep your eyes ahead…" An elf that stood next to her said. He gave me an odd smile before setting his hand on her shoulder. Yeah… nope I'm leaving.
I don't want to know who they are. But they're definitely part of Lorraine's house. I noticed the vine-like patch on his shoulder, and the scarily strong air around him. I was suffocating there.
I navigated through the crowds, away from everyone. Their voices were too loud, I couldn't hear my thoughts. Everywhere I went there were people, blocking my path— thank the gods they weren't mumbling or whispering about me.
Maybe I can… find a vantage point. Away from people at least.
Just as that thought entered my head, I nearly bumped into something. It was on my left, alright..?
This whole eye thing is a major bother, I keep bumping into things on my left.
"A ladder, huh?" I tilted my head. "That's suspicious…"
Never saw someone go on their roof before in this kingdom. The ladder also looked brand new, there was no splintering, and it was made out of a dark wood.
There were two women's voices up there; one was Rin, the other was way louder and more energetic. Another one of Shen's students?
