Chapter 66: SEED – Continued Persuasion and Conversation
Tolle Koenig knew that this tree was the Second-Generation Royal Tree—the very core of the core.
He gave her a name: Yumi. The little tree Yumi became even happier, absolutely delighted with the name.
After playing with Yumi for a while, Tolle Koenig moved the lifeboat where Lynn Minmay was staying to a villa near this subspace pocket world.
When Lynn Minmay stepped out, she was overjoyed by the environment here, exclaiming that at last, she didn't have to stay cooped up in that cramped lifeboat and could finally breathe some fresh air.
Tolle Koenig then introduced Lynn Minmay to Yumi as well, giving them some companionship.
Afterward, he had Nami assimilate and replicate the cold fusion generator and installed one into several machines.
After all, compared with thermonuclear fusion, this device was far safer, more reliable, and tens of thousands of times more powerful—enough to power a Gundam for hundreds of years.
This was, after all, an invention of an advanced interstellar civilization. Compared to the technology of human civilization, which hadn't even left its own solar system yet, it was on an entirely different level.
Tolle Koenig exclaimed that he had struck it rich—his long-standing worries about energy were completely solved.
Once the energy issue was settled, he had Nami manifest the Kamen Rider 01 transformation belt, along with several of the Progrise Keys.
These included insect types (such as Rising Hopper, Shining Hopper…), animal types (tiger, elephant, dolphin…), and extinct-animal types (dinosaur, saber-toothed tiger, dodo bird…), and so on.
All of these were manufactured directly, though unfortunately, some of the special Rider-series Progrise Keys lacked critical components and could not yet be replicated.
Tolle Koenig then had Nami assimilate and absorb the transformation belt and the Progrise Keys.
Nami's Full-Arms Mode grew significantly stronger, her combat form enhanced to: Performance – Strength +100, Constitution +100, Speed +100, Defense +200; Terrain Adaptability: Sea A, Land A, Air A, Space A.
After thinking it over, he had Nami manufacture three Humagear robots, each equipped with a cold fusion generator.
In front of Lynn Minmay, he activated the assistant-character data Progrise Keys and summoned Izu, Yua, and Juster.
He input memories related to starship and mobile suit maintenance and operation. Once the warship's core finished its camouflage shell, they could directly serve as crew.
But since the warship wasn't complete yet, he simply had the three of them accompany Lynn Minmay for now.
When Lynn Minmay carefully examined the detailed structure of the three female Humagears' bodies, she looked at him with strange eyes full of disdain.
But after Tolle Koenig's repeated excuses, explaining that this was just how technology in that world was designed and that he couldn't do anything about it, she begrudgingly accepted it.
He reasoned that perhaps the design was meant so the Humagears could replenish their energy not only through charging but also by consuming normal food.
Since he couldn't alter or modify them, he returned them to their inactive Humagear state for Lynn Minmay's inspection, and only then was a major crisis averted.
Once all preparations were complete, Tolle Koenig returned to the Archangel's hangar.
At this time, Sergeant Marco also opened the cockpit of the Blitz Gundam, and the still-unconscious Nicol Amalfi was carried out by several soldiers.
They locked him in the Archangel's brig, afraid he might be secretly released again.
Upon waking, Nicol Amalfi immediately requested a private meeting with the ZAFT pilot who had captured him, and asked that their conversation be kept secret.
Tolle Koenig suddenly realized how serious this problem was. He had no way to stop someone from revealing his secret—unless he killed them before they could speak.
Fortunately, Nicol Amalfi was honorable enough not to expose him; otherwise, Tolle Koenig would be forced to spend his life on the run in the Gundam SEED world.
After all, a man capable of foreseeing the future, with even the possibility of reincarnation, would be irresistible bait to the high command. Even if he claimed the reincarnation was fake, they would still covet it.
The moment Tolle Koenig met Nicol Amalfi, he had Nami block all nearby surveillance systems, taking full control and ensuring only harmless information was transmitted outward.
Tolle Koenig smiled and waved.
"Hello, nice to meet you.
I'm the ZAFT pilot you encountered, though officially a volunteer for the Earth Federation forces—Tolle Koenig.
Sorry to drag you here. Are you feeling a bit better now?"
Nicol Amalfi glanced around, about to speak, but Tolle Koenig stopped him.
Then he handed Nicol a communication bracelet made by Nami, instructing him to read what was written.
"Hello, Tolle Koenig. I am Nicol Amalfi…"
Following Tolle Koenig's guidance, Nicol first spoke some harmless information to mislead Murrue Ramius and the others who were still listening in.
Then, after editing some chat messages to be sent out, Tolle Koenig let Nami handle the fabrication of their "conversation" records.
"All right, Nicol. Now you can speak freely."
"…Fine then. Were the memories you showed me really true?
And what about your ability to transmit memories and control the Blitz Gundam—can you explain that?"
"Time is short, so I'll keep this brief. Those memories were real—there's no need to deceive you.
If all I wanted was the Blitz Gundam, I wouldn't have bothered saving you. Wouldn't it have been simpler to just kill you with my special ability?"
Seeing Nicol Amalfi lower his head in silence, Tolle Koenig continued.
"You've seen it yourself—the Earth Forces will launch massive nuclear strikes against the PLANT colonies in the future. The images of Lacus, Kira, and Athrun working together to save PLANT.
That's why Siegel Clyne must be assassinated by Patrick Zala. Only then will Klein's faction and the moderates truly rally behind Lacus Clyne without hesitation.
That way, Lacus Clyne can eventually become the PLANT Supreme Council's top chairperson and lead this world to genuine peace…"
The memories Nami had implanted into Nicol Amalfi's mind were largely consistent with SEED's original storyline.
They included scenes of Lacus Clyne handing the Freedom Gundam to Kira Yamato.
Tolle Koenig then explained some of his plans to Nicol—he wanted Nicol to act as an insider, so that when the Freedom Gundam was complete, they could ensure it reached Lacus Clyne, and so on.
When they reached Orb, Tolle Koenig would come to retrieve him, and he would secretly guide events to unfold along the original plotline.
They would remain hidden until Kira Yamato obtained the Freedom Gundam and Athrun Zala reconciled with him.
Then they would reveal themselves, help end the First War, and rescue the child Extended soldiers abused by the Earth Forces.
This was to make sure that, two years later, war would not spiral out of control again as it did in SEED Destiny.
