Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: The Corrupted Tang San — Dark Blue Silver Grass

Chapter 19: The Corrupted Tang San — Dark Blue Silver Grass

Yue Guan gazed upon the black longsword condensed entirely from soul power, his eyes filled with awe.

Unable to resist, he reached out and lightly brushed its edge. A faint chill ran down his fingertips, followed by a surge of overwhelming soul energy that made him whistle in admiration.

"Old Ghost… this is one hell of a sword!"

Ghost Douluo smiled faintly.

"I've already given it a name—Nether Soul-Devouring Sword."

He raised his hand and gave the blade a casual swing.

A jet-black arc of sword qi tore through the air, slicing across the sea's surface. The impact split the waves apart, sending towering sprays of water several meters high as the air itself seemed to shatter from the force.

Yue Guan clapped his hands, visibly delighted.

"With this sword alone, even without releasing your martial soul, your attack power's terrifying! In just a few short months, you've gone from rank ninety-five to ninety-seven. I was still worried the Spirit Hall might come after us, but now… I can finally relax."

Ghost Douluo sheathed the sword back into his arm with a faint smile.

"When I chose to leave Spirit Hall, I had already prepared myself for whatever came next. Don't worry, Lao Chrysanthemum. From now on, we'll only grow stronger—strong enough to face any enemy."

"I don't doubt that." Yue Guan nodded seriously.

"So, what's our next move?"

Ghost Douluo thought for a moment before replying,

"The fusion of the Evil Spirit Orca King's ring hit both my mind and body pretty hard. I can't absorb another hundred-thousand-year ring for now. Let's rest and stabilize our soul power first."

"Good idea," Yue Guan agreed.

"Better to consolidate your gains before the next breakthrough."

"Alright, let's head out. We'll let them handle the rest of these corpses."

Far away—about ten li from where they stood—Little White and the Demon Soul Great White Shark clan were waiting in the open sea.

Guided by soul fluctuations, Ghost Douluo piloted the Dragon Abyss Boat toward them.

"Xiao Bai," he called out, "I've absorbed the Evil Demon Orca King's ring. You and your kin can feast on what's left of the corpses."

The sharks stirred with excitement, their bodies trembling as they restrained their instincts. Still, none dared move without Xiao Bai's command.

Xiao Bai swam closer, her eyes calm but her tone stern.

"As the guardian of Sea God Island, it is my duty to protect these waters. You trespassed into the Sea God's domain and slew the Evil Spirit Orca King. I will report everything truthfully to the High Priest. I advise you to leave immediately and never set foot here again. Do not hunt soul beasts within this sea."

Ghost Douluo chuckled, unbothered.

"Don't worry. We won't be hunting any sea soul beasts in the near future… but who can say what the future holds? This vast ocean doesn't belong solely to Sea God Island. And not every soul beast out here worships your so-called Sea God."

Xiao Bai's tone grew sharp, anger flickering in her eyes.

"I am warning you out of goodwill. If you continue to blaspheme against the Sea God, you will face divine retribution!"

"Enough talk," Ghost Douluo waved dismissively.

"Words won't change anything. We're leaving—you enjoy your meal."

Turning the Dragon Abyss Boat around, he and Yue Guan sped off toward Seagod City.

Meanwhile, Xiao Bai led her clan in a rush toward the area where the Evil Spirit Orca King had fallen.

When she arrived, her gaze darkened slightly—the whale's skull had been split open, its brain already missing. A glint of disappointment flickered in her eyes.

The brain of a hundred-thousand-year-old Evil Spirit Orca King was an unparalleled delicacy, a treasure that could greatly strengthen any sea beast that consumed it.

"How strange," she murmured. "How could those two land dwellers know about the whale brain? Did they stumble upon it by accident?"

She shook her head and sighed.

"Forget it. Even the remains of the Orca King hold immense energy. That alone is worth celebrating."

Transforming back into her massive white shark form, Xiao Bai led her kin as they began to devour the remains with frenzied hunger.

Though several days had passed, the body still pulsed faintly with power—each bite bringing a surge of vitality to the sea.

---

Time flowed quietly on…

City of Slaughter

The thick stench of blood filled the air, endlessly stimulating Tang San's nerves.

Unknowingly, half a year had already passed since he arrived in the City of Slaughter.

Through these six months of brutal training, his strength had increased tremendously.

At this moment, he stood upon the Hell Killing Field— the stage of carnage,

a cruel world where the strong survive and the weak perish.

Around him, the stands were packed with all kinds of fallen souls.

Their eyes gleamed with greed, bloodlust, and madness— like a pack of starving beasts awaiting a grand feast of slaughter.

Tang San's gaze was cold and resolute, his heart burning with the flames of vengeance.

The deaths of his mother and Xiao Wu were like a sharpened blade piercing deep into his heart, filling him with endless hatred.

He swore— to grow stronger here,

to claim a hundred victories,

to walk the Hell Road,

and to earn the title of Death God.

He would make all those who hurt him—and the ones he loved—pay a heavy price in blood.

The power of hatred surged like a dark river through his heart, nurturing the seed of evil that had taken root within him.

His martial soul—once the gentle Blue Silver Grass— was slowly transforming into something sinister: the Dark Blue Silver Grass.

Across from him stood a burly man radiating a violent aura.

The man gripped a massive battle axe still stained with fresh blood.

He sneered disdainfully at Tang San's slender frame.

"Brat, get ready to die!"

With a furious roar, he swung his axe and charged forward.

Tang San's eyes narrowed. He did not dodge. Instead, he stood silently in place—waiting.

Just as the axe was about to strike,

The ground beneath the man surged violently.

Countless strands of blackened Blue Silver Grass shot upward like venomous serpents, wrapping tightly around his legs.

The man struggled with all his might,

But the Dark Blue Silver Grass was incredibly tough—unbreakable.

In Tang San's palm, the grass grew wildly,

morphing into a thick, whip-like vine covered in sharp, gleaming barbs that pulsed with a dark, sinister light.

"Die!"

Tang San roared, thrusting the vine forward like a spear.

Puchi!

The black vine pierced straight through the man's chest, blood spraying into the air.

But Tang San didn't end it there.

Instead, he let the Dark Blue Silver Grass greedily devour the man's soul power and life force.

The man's face turned deathly pale, his body trembling before collapsing heavily to the ground with a dull thud.

For a brief moment, the arena was silent—

then erupted into thunderous cheers.

"Thousand-Hand Asura!"

"Thousand-Hand Asura!"

As the shouts of the depraved echoed through the Killing Field, a faintly twisted smile appeared on Tang San's face.

Before coming to the City of Slaughter, Tang Hao had warned him—

soul skills would be suppressed here,

And cultivation would progress painfully slow.

Yet after his martial soul evolved into the Dark Blue Silver Grass, he discovered a new path— by devouring others' soul power, his growth became faster than ever.

Even under the heavy suppression of this cursed city, his soul power had risen by two levels in half a year, reaching Rank Forty-Four.

"Ghost Douluo… Chrysanthemum Douluo… just you wait," Tang San muttered coldly.

"One day, I'll kill you both—and avenge Xiao Wu."
