Chapter 19 - 19

Vinny sat on the couch, still trembling from the reunion with his mother and Liz. The tears had dried, but the heat in his chest refused to subside. Relief, guilt, love, fear, and desire tangled together until he could hardly breathe.

Griffin remained outside, leaning against his car, silent, watching. Vinny's stomach tightened every time he caught the dark intensity in Griffins gaze. It was not anger. It was not simple desire. It was something darker, possessive, a hunger that had not yet been satisfied. A hunger for control.

Vinny wanted to look away. He wanted to step inside the house and pretend Griffin was not standing there like a shadow in the sunlight. But he could not. His legs froze. His chest heaved. Every nerve in his body screamed at him to obey the pull of Griffins eyes.

Finally, Vinny stepped toward him. He needed to see, to know, even if it terrified him.

Griffin straightened slightly, a small smile tugging at his lips. But the smile did not reach his eyes. They remained dark, calculating, and yet filled with something almost tender, if one dared to call it that.

"You should not have come this close to them," Griffin said softly, voice low but carrying a sharp edge. "You know I do not like it when anyone else touches what is mine."

Vinny froze. The words pierced deeper than any warning or threat. He wanted to speak, to reassure him, but his throat refused.

"I am your safe place," Griffin continued, taking a step closer, closing the small distance between them. "But I am also the only one who gets to hold you like this. No one else. Not your family. Not anyone."

The possessiveness in Griffins tone made Vinny's heart stutter. His fingers clutched the hem of his shirt, knuckles white. This was the Griffin he had always feared might exist. The one who watched, who waited, who had built his obsession quietly and now claimed it.

Vinny swallowed, his voice trembling. "I… I do not understand."

Griffin smiled, slow, deliberate. "You will, my light. You will feel it. And you will not want to escape. Not really."

Vinny's stomach twisted. He did not want to believe it. He wanted to run. He wanted to feel safe in the arms of his mother and sister. But the pull from Griffin was magnetic. Dangerous. He could feel the heat, the tension, the dark desire beneath the careful veneer of tenderness.

Griffin stepped even closer. Vinny's breath hitched. The sun glinted off his dark hair. His eyes were almost black, deep, and unyielding, and yet they held a strange softness when they looked at Vinny. A contradiction Vinny could not resolve.

"You felt safe with them," Griffin murmured. "And yet here you are. Here with me. Always drawn to me. Do not pretend you do not feel it."

Vinny's legs trembled. He knew Griffin was right. He had tried to deny it, tried to convince himself that the relief, the warmth, the flutter in his chest were merely gratitude or comfort. But every part of him knew it was more. It was obsession. Griffin's obsession. And now it was infecting him.

Griffin reached out, cupping Vinny's face with his large hands. Fingers traced the line of his jaw, lingering at the soft curve beneath his ear. "You belong to me," he whispered, voice low and dark, sending a shiver through Vinny that had nothing to do with fear and everything to do with want. "And I intend to keep you. Safe. But mine. Do you understand?"

Vinny's lips parted, but no words came. The truth of it wrapped around him like chains, beautiful and suffocating. His mind screamed to resist, but his body betrayed him. He wanted Griffin, needed him, and yet feared the depth of that need.

Griffin leaned closer, forehead resting lightly against Vinny's. "Do not fight it. Not with me." His breath was warm, soft, almost intoxicating. "I have waited too long. I have watched too much. And now you are here. And I will not let anyone take you from me."

Vinny felt the pull tighten in his chest. His pulse raced. This was not the sweet, safe affection he had once imagined from Griffin. This was darker. Dangerous. Possessive. And yet thrilling.

He tried to step back. His feet faltered. Griffin's hands caught him immediately, holding him firmly, with gentle force that left no room for escape.

"You cannot run from me," Griffin whispered. "And you would not want to. Not if you knew how much I have waited, how much I have craved this moment."

Vinny's knees nearly gave way. His mind spun with a mixture of fear, desire, and disbelief. He had known Griffin from screens, from videos, from fantasy. But now Griffin was here. Real. Tangible. All consuming. And the dark obsession that Vinny had only glimpsed through the photos and messages now radiated from Griffin like heat.

Vinny's voice cracked. "I… I do not know if I… can handle it."

Griffin's smile was slow and deliberate. "Good," he murmured, brushing a thumb across Vinny's cheek. "Because I do not intend to let go. You will learn to belong to me. Completely. And you will not resent it. Not truly."

Vinny's chest tightened. The pull of Griffin's darkness wrapped around him, a velvet cage that made him dizzy with want. He wanted to resist. He wanted to flee. And yet he wanted to melt into Griffins arms, to be claimed, to surrender.

Behind him, the Dara residence remained unaware of the tension just outside their gate. And yet Vinny knew, deep down, that nothing would ever be the same.

Griffin stepped closer still, pressing a finger under Vinnys chin, lifting his gaze to meet those deep black eyes. "Do you understand, my light? This is only the beginning."

Vinny shivered, unable to speak. He understood perfectly.

And somewhere beneath the surface of his fear and desire, he knew he would not be able to escape. Not now. Not ever.

The car engine behind Griffin hummed softly. The quiet presence of the world beyond seemed distant, irrelevant, meaningless. All that existed was the dark gravity of Griffin's obsession and the trembling warmth in Vinny's chest.

A knock at the gate interrupted them. Vinny glanced toward the sound. Griffin noticed immediately, eyes narrowing slightly.

"Do not move," Griffin said low and dark. "Stay with me. Whatever comes, you will stay with me."

Vinny nodded, heart hammering. He could feel the dark pulse of Griffins presence, a promise of protection, possession, and something far more dangerous than love.

The gate swung open slowly. A shadow stepped inside.

And Griffin's grip on Vinny tightened just enough to remind him.

No one would take him.

Not now.

Not ever.
