Chapter 9 - Flight of the Damned

Night was slowly deepening over London's Heathrow Airport. The world was unaware of the storm that was about to descend. Passengers queued as usual—some absorbed in their mobile phones, others listening anxiously to flight announcements, and some simply lost in their eagerness to reach their destinations.

Amid the weary faces stood a man. Middle-aged, with slightly unkempt hair and faint bluish circles under his eyes, he repeatedly rubbed his throat, as if a sharp irritation burned inside. Passport in hand, he shuffled forward slowly. Sweat traced thin lines down his face, but he tried to appear normal.

The officer at passport control took the documents, but his gaze lingered for a moment on the man's subtle disarray.

"Sir, are you feeling alright? You seem… uneasy," the officer asked.

The man forced a slight smile, but a tremor ran through his voice.

"Yes… just tired. "

The officer nodded formally and handed back the passport. He had no idea that this single interaction was the world's first brush with a calamity that would shake civilization to its core.

The man walked a few steps into the boarding area. The irritation in his throat intensified. For a brief second, his vision blurred, but he steadied himself against the wall. Moments later, the plane door opened and passengers began boarding.

He hesitated, then entered. His hands shook slightly as he fastened his seatbelt.

As the plane picked up speed on the runway, a sharp pang struck his chest—a pain unlike any ordinary illness. His breathing became erratic, his eyes reddened, and his body trembled. The countdown to chaos had begun.

The First Moment of Havoc

Twenty minutes into the flight, a piercing scream shattered the cabin. The man who had barely managed to sit upright moments ago twisted uncontrollably in his seat. Then, with a sudden jerk, he stood. His eyes had turned completely white. Dark streaks appeared at the corners of his lips.

A wave of fear rippled through the passengers.

Before anyone could react, he lunged at the young man seated in front of him. In an instant, contact had been made. Panic erupted—screams, crying, shouts—and the plane transformed into a claustrophobic cage of fear.

The flight attendants recoiled in terror, but it was too late. The infection spread rapidly from one passenger to another.

Within Minutes, the Plane Was Transformed

The virus was peculiar. It did not instantly turn humans into uncontrollable predators, but the initial infection spread almost immediately—through skin, blood, or even a scratch.

Passengers in the back rows collapsed, convulsed, and then rose again, altered and dangerous.

The pilots heard the chaos behind them and closed the cabin door.

"What's happening back there?" one asked, voice trembling.

"Sir, some passengers… they're attacking each other. They've gone mad!" the flight attendant replied.

The pilots attempted an emergency call, but by the time contact was made with ground control, the number of altered passengers had surged. The attendants tried to hold the door, but repeated violent impacts made it impossible.

Then—

The door gave way.

Within seconds, the pilots were part of the unfolding nightmare.

The Plane Moves Toward a New Destination

No human on board remained fully aware, yet the autopilot carried the plane toward its intended destination.

As the plane approached Japanese airspace, ground personnel prepared for landing, unaware of the carnage inside.

When a staff member knocked on the door:

"What's this? Why is it locked from inside? Maybe it's stuck… open it!"

The moment the door swung open, the smell of chaos hit them. The first altered passenger leapt at them. Within moments, the crew was overcome, and the virus claimed its first victims on Japanese soil.

Global Spread Accelerates

Other flights leaving England carried the virus silently to distant countries:

One landed in France.

Another in Russia.

One in the Middle East.

Several headed toward Southeast Asia.

By the time authorities were alerted, some passengers had already undergone transformation.

China's Rapid Response

The moment China received its first warning of flights from England, emergency meetings were convened.

"All flights from England must be halted at the border," orders were issued.

Jets were dispatched to intercept suspicious planes and neutralize threats over the sea.

Yet the virus was not contained. Even with two planes destroyed midair, infected bodies reached shorelines, sparking new outbreaks.

The Story Continues…

Panic spread across Europe, fear rippled through Asia, and uncertainty gripped Africa. Governments blamed each other, but the virus surged forward relentlessly. Countries that attempted strict containment measures still found themselves helpless—the virus now traveled not just through the air but via oceans, borders, and ground travel.

The world burned in a silent fire, and no one knew which weapon could possibly stop it.
