Years ago, with Mavis's help, Noah had added special enchantments to the emblem. The results had been remarkable.
The communication function allowed guild members to talk to one another over distance. On missions where searching and coordination were vital, this made an enormous difference. Teams could share discoveries instantly, and if the guild had new information about a commission, they could relay it straight to the members in the field, saving precious time.
Even more importantly, the emblem could be used as a distress beacon. Mages in danger had called for help through their insignia and been rescued just in time. Many Fairy Tail members owed their safety and sometimes their lives to that function alone.
But hidden within the emblem was another power, one only Noah, Makarov, and the sleeping First Master Mavis knew. The emblem could purify magic power, strengthen vitality, and accelerate a mage's growth.
Noah had confirmed its effects through years of careful examinations. Comparing Fairy Tail's progress with that of other guilds, the truth was clear: his guildmates were advancing at a far faster rate.
The training ground he had built amplified the effect even further. Surrounded by concentrated ethernano, the emblem's magic bloomed. Members steadily pushed their limits lifting heavier gravities, enduring harsher conditions, wielding more magic than ever before.
Even those with humble beginnings were now growing by leaps and bounds. Some who had once struggled with the basics of magic had, in just a few years, seen their power multiply tenfold, a hundredfold, even a thousandfold.
Of course, the weaker the mage's starting point, the more dramatic the increase appeared. Most members believed this progress came entirely from the training ground. None realized the emblem itself was quietly fueling their growth.
Since the emblem had already proven invaluable, Noah decided it was time to enhance it again.
The recent clash with Jose Porla and Phantom Lord had reminded him that Fairy Tail needed better defenses. Not every mage could overpower an enemy. When outmatched, the wisest choice was often to retreat and if retreat was impossible, then they needed enough protection to survive until escape became possible.
So Noah envisioned two new functions: defense and escape.
For defense, his inspiration was Fairy Sphere, one of Fairy Tail's three great magics. This super-spell could form a holy barrier of light, shielding everyone within from external harm. It had even once contained the roar of the Black Dragon itself. But Fairy Sphere also froze time for those inside it, a dangerous side effect Noah would have to refine before adapting it into the emblem.
For escape, the choice was obvious. Teleportation magic the spell Noah used most often. With it, he could carry someone to safety in an instant. If he could embed a simplified version into the emblem, any member in mortal danger would have a way out.
The real challenge was power. Fairy Sphere was already a form of super-magic. Most Fairy Tail mages could never hope to cast it themselves. Even if the emblem absorbed ethernano from the air, the reservoir it could hold was still limited.
Noah's solution was to create a personal magic storage unit embedded directly beneath the skin where the emblem was stamped. Formed through layered spellwork, it was small enough not to interfere with the body, but potent enough to hold enormous reserves of energy.
The capacity of the storage would scale with the mage's own strength. The stronger the wizard, the more magic their emblem could store. For now, Noah capped it at three times a person's natural magic power any more risked instability.
The stored magic could draw from two sources: the natural aura a mage released day to day, and the surrounding ethernano in the air. In this way, the emblem would quietly gather and stockpile energy, ready to activate its defensive or escape functions the moment its bearer needed it most.
One third of the total magic stored within each emblem was dedicated to enhancing a member's potential. This was the foundation the most important aspect of the enchantment.
The stronger a guild member became, the more energy they needed to continue improving. That was why so much magic was required for this feature alone.
Another portion of the energy was reserved for the emblem's daily functions: maintaining communication signals, concealing the emblem's magic signature from outsiders, and other practical utilities.
The newest addition Noah introduced was instantaneous teleportation.
This ability allowed the bearer to instantly relocate up to one hundred kilometers directly toward the Fairy Tail guildhall. The function would trigger automatically alongside the protective shield, ensuring that members trapped in life-threatening danger could escape immediately.
The remainder of the stored energy was devoted to the shield itself, modeled after an improved version of Fairy Sphere.
This barrier adapted its strength and duration to the amount of magic available. When fully charged, it could withstand blows several times stronger than the member's own power. If a fatal attack struck, the shield would trigger automatically.
Its duration averaged about one minute. Heavy strikes could shorten that time, but even so, it was long enough to survive the initial onslaught. Once activated, the emblem would also transmit a distress signal back to the guild, alerting allies to the crisis.
Noah spent the next month testing every function thoroughly, bringing Makarov in to help with the trials.
When the final checks confirmed there were no conflicts or malfunctions, Noah finally allowed himself a sigh of relief. The system worked. The guild was safer.
By then, nearly three months had passed since the tense confrontation with Jose Porla.
No major clashes had erupted between Fairy Tail and Phantom Lord. There were scuffles and minor disputes over commissions, but nothing that crossed the line.
Noah suspected Jose's restraint had a simple reason: he had only just been elevated to the rank of Wizard Saint. For now, he would avoid provoking the Magic Council, no matter how much he seethed in silence.
