Archive Magic what the Council called Ancient Documents was one of the newest branches of sorcery. It used a principle discovered only in recent years: converting information into raw magical data.
Through this principle, information could be compressed, stored, and transmitted with incredible speed and efficiency.
Noah quickly lost himself in the study of this magic. By the time he finally looked up from the texts, night had already fallen. Hibiki, who had been beside him all day, had long since left.
After grabbing a quick dinner, Noah stayed overnight in one of the guest rooms reserved for visiting mages. The next morning, he returned immediately to the archives, continuing his work until he had memorized and absorbed the entire body of material. It was already afternoon when he realized he had skipped lunch entirely.
Returning the documents to the staff, Noah spotted Hibiki still buried in his studies. He walked over, patted him lightly on the shoulder, and gestured toward the hallway.
Once Hibiki had packed up, the two stepped outside.
"Hello, I'm Noah from Fairy Tail."
"Hello, I'm Hibiki from Blue Pegasus. The president mentioned you before. What can I do for you?" Hibiki's tone carried polite curiosity.
Noah answered with a sincere smile. "I just wanted to ask if you've finished learning Archive. I've already mastered it. If you have any questions, I can help."
"…You've learned it?"
Hibiki's eyes widened in shock. He had been at this for months and still hadn't reached full comprehension. Yet Noah who had only arrived yesterday claimed he had mastered it already?
"Yes. This is Archive."
Noah raised his hands before his chest. A glowing, transparent keyboard shimmered into existence beneath his fingers, while a suspended light-screen unfolded before him.
"No data has been uploaded yet, so the database is empty. But the spell structure functions properly. I can cast the magic just without reference material to search through."
He demonstrated fluidly, uploading small packets of test data. Hibiki stood frozen, utterly stunned.
He had spent so long wrestling with Archive, painstakingly grasping its intricacies. Yet here Noah was, shaping its functions with ease after less than two days.
He had heard Bob praise Noah as a prodigy, but this was beyond belief. The boy was his age fourteen and yet already leagues ahead.
Hibiki felt his confidence waver. Compared to Noah's brilliance, his own progress seemed painfully slow.
"Hey. Come back to your senses."
Noah waved a hand in front of Hibiki's face.
"Ah? Sorry what is it?" Hibiki snapped back to awareness, cheeks burning.
Noah gave him an exasperated look. "I asked how far along you are with Archive."
"I… I think I've learned most of it, but there are still parts I can't fully grasp."
Noah glanced around the busy corridor, then dismissed his projection. "This isn't the best place to talk. Go return your materials. After dinner, come by my room we'll go over it there."
Hibiki nodded quickly.
That evening, the two shared a meal and then sat together in Noah's guest quarters, pouring over the complexities of Archive Magic. Noah's knowledge and explanations were precise, breaking down principles Hibiki had struggled with for months.
By the end of the next day, Hibiki had finally mastered the spell.
As he closed his notebook, Hibiki looked at Noah with deep respect. During their discussions, he had realized just how vast Noah's magical understanding truly was. His knowledge stretched far beyond Archive, touching countless other fields.
For the first time, Hibiki fully understood why Fairy Tail spoke so highly of Noah.
He had never imagined that someone his own age could possess such an incredible breadth of knowledge. What Noah shared with him wasn't simply information from Archive it was wisdom he already carried with him. That realization shocked Hibiki deeply.
It proved just how much Noah had read, how much he had studied. No wonder President Bob had praised him so highly, even going so far as to help him secure access to the Council's Archive research.
With Archive Magic now in his grasp, Noah was like a tiger given wings, able to store and access his vast knowledge more efficiently than ever before.
Once Hibiki had also grasped the spell, the two of them worked together to upload and organize all of the Council's publicly available data into Archive. Restricted materials still required formal applications and approvals, so they could not access them so easily.
Noah had originally hoped to use his time at the Council to study other unfamiliar magics, but he soon learned those too required lengthy requests and authorization. Without Bob's direct recommendation, even Archive would have been out of reach.
Hibiki eventually returned to process his own pending requests, while Noah set off in another direction. There was someone he hadn't seen since arriving at the Council someone he regarded as a senior from Fairy Tail.
When Noah approached the Council chambers, a staff member stepped in front of him.
"Excuse me, who are you here to see?"
"I'd like to speak with Councillor Yajima. Please let him know Noah from Fairy Tail has come to visit."
"Understood. Please wait here."
The staff hurried inside to deliver the message and returned quickly.
"Councillor Yajima is expecting you. Please follow me."
Led through the corridors, Noah soon arrived at a door. The attendant gestured politely. "Councilor Yajima is inside. Please enter."
Noah nodded his thanks, pushed open the door, and stepped in.
As expected, Yajima was there, having risen from his seat to greet him in the center of the room.
The elderly councillor was small in stature, with thick eyebrows, dressed in his brown long-sleeved shirt patterned with black vertical stripes, his familiar three-peaked black hat, and plain dark trousers.
"Grandpa Yajima, long time no see! How have you been?" Noah called warmly as he hurried forward.
Yajima smiled kindly. "I've been doing well. Thanks to the medicinal wine you sent me, my health has been much better than before."
"That's good to hear. I'll be brewing another batch soon I'll make sure to send some your way."
"Hoho, I'll be looking forward to it. By the way, you don't usually visit the Council. What brings you here today?"
"I came to study Archive Magic, thanks to President Bob's recommendation."
"Archive? That magic suits you very well. Bob chose wisely. Have you learned it?"
"I have. It only took me two days. After that, I spent the rest of my time uploading all the Council's publicly available records into the system."
Yajima's eyes widened slightly before his smile deepened. "You still learn magic so quickly. Makarov really has raised a remarkable child. Now then, is there something you'd like me to help with?"
