/Madison's POV/
It feels like I slept for a long time but I guess I deserved that much. Getting back to Zane with a broken ankle I got from rolling off that steep slope was difficult but everything that's happened over the last twenty-four hours was a eye-opener.
I can't believe I was almost bested by a civilian. I guess I've gotten quite rusty. I woke up from my deep slumber with a renewed determination but also to a crushing weight on me, hugging me tightly and making it hard to breathe but the body was familiar and the scent wafting off him was recognisable.
"Zane?" I called after opening my eyes to see his head resting on my chest. I reached and held his face to mine only to realise his eyes had gone blank. Why am I not surprised?
"I can't believe you right now, you can be such a pain, you know that right? Why are you suddenly all over me again, did you miss me or something?" I asked, and while I wasn't expecting a response. Zane gave me one.
