I met with one of Kim's people late at night, after which I dropped by the hotel for a brief stroll. The air outside still clung to my jacket, cool and faintly dusty, but the moment I stepped inside the lobby I was met with warm, recycled air tinged with expensive perfume and polished marble. The VIP locksmith they were bringing over wasn't arriving until the second day, so the security was still a bit lax—only the guards stationed around the safe were alert enough to notice footsteps.
I walked around the lobby for a while with my hand tucked into the jacket of my hoodie, my cap fastened tight over my head. The soft hum of conversation, clinking cutlery, and the faint hiss of the espresso machine blended into background noise as I moved. My eyes skimmed briskly around the interior, taking in the glossy floors, the subtle citrus scent pumped through the vents, the strategic blind spots in the camera placements—every detail that could help my mission tomorrow.
