No one understood. The questions only kept piling up.
How much trouble could a mere Loki really cause?
The Time Variance Authority was so powerful that even Lin Feng—a being who dared challenge Celestial-level opponents—was deeply wary of it.
So what could a Loki possibly accomplish?
That was the question on everyone's mind.
At that moment, the Alligator Loki let out a growl.
Beside him, Old Loki explained:
"He's calling him a liar."
"At least my Nexus Event wasn't eating my neighbor's cat," Black Loki shot back.
Clearly, he was talking about Alligator Loki.
The audience was stunned.
So eating a neighbor's cat was enough to get pruned?
Not the fact that he was an alligator version of Loki—but because he ate a cat?
Just what kind of standards did the TVA use?
At the same time, everyone realized that Black Loki's earlier claims were probably exaggerated.
Maybe he never collected all six Infinity Stones.
Maybe he never even defeated Tony Stark and Steve Rogers.
Enraged at having his embarrassing past exposed, Alligator Loki lunged forward and tried to bite Black Loki.
The others barely managed to stop him before tossing him back into his water basin.
"Tell us your story, Loki," Kid Loki said.
"My story?" Old Loki paused.
"No one wants to hear it."
His expression was lonely, like an old man carrying decades of regret.
"I actually do," Loki replied.
"Because... we're supposed to die, right? Thanos kills us after Ragnarok."
The moment Old Loki heard the name Thanos, his posture stiffened.
Pain flashed across his face.
It was clearly a memory he rarely revisited.
After setting down his cup, he began:
"In my timeline, everything happened as it was supposed to. My life followed its destined course... until Thanos attacked our ship."
This, he explained, was the fate of most Lokis.
Not every Loki became like Black Loki, breaking free from destiny and supposedly defeating the Avengers.
Most remained trapped within their predetermined path.
"You didn't try to assassinate him?" Loki asked immediately.
Because that was exactly what his future self had done.
He had tried to stab Thanos.
And Thanos had killed him effortlessly.
Not even Hulk could beat Thanos.
What chance did Loki have?
Old Loki shook his head.
"Of course not."
Then he continued:
"No offense, my friend, but blades are worthless compared to Loki magic. Weapons only hold us back from realizing our true magical potential."
"They look pretty useful to me," Black Loki argued.
Old Loki nodded.
"Especially when they're lying on the floor after you've been choked to death."
Loki froze.
Because that was exactly how his Sacred Timeline self died.
Charging at Thanos with a dagger.
Then getting strangled to death.
Looking back, it seemed almost absurd.
Like Don Quixote charging a windmill.
Perhaps that Loki had already accepted death.
Everything he cared about had been destroyed.
His final attack was nothing more than a desperate act of defiance.
And even that failed.
Old Loki continued:
"I created a projection so realistic that even Thanos believed it."
Unlike most Lokis, this one understood his strengths.
He knew he was a sorcerer.
Not a warrior.
His enemies had always been monsters like:
Thor Hulk Thanos
All of them were physical powerhouses.
A mage had no business fighting them head-on.
Yet most Lokis kept trying.
That was why so few ever lived to old age.
This Old Loki survived because he embraced what made him unique.
He stopped trying to win through strength.
He mastered illusion magic instead.
"Then I drifted through the universe."
"I stayed away from Thor."
"Stayed away from everyone."
"I thought about the universe. About my place in it."
"Eventually, I realized that wherever I went, I only brought pain."
"So I removed myself from the equation."
"I settled on a remote planet and lived alone for a very, very long time."
After saying that, he took another sip of wine.
Outside the screen, everyone glanced at Tony Stark.
His theory had been correct.
The way to avoid TVA detection was simple:
Stop affecting the timeline.
Hide yourself from the world.
Create no new branches.
No changes.
No disturbances.
Only then could you escape notice.
Loki asked quietly:
"Then how did the TVA find you?"
Old Loki smiled bitterly.
"I got lonely."
He forced a laugh before continuing:
"Truthfully... I missed my brother."
"I wondered whether he missed me."
"Whether anyone missed me at all."
"The moment I decided to leave that planet..."
"The TVA arrived."
Silence filled the room.
Then Old Loki raised his cup and said:
"Because, my friends, we're only allowed to play one role."
"The God of Exile."
"Nothing more."
With a mocking smile directed at fate itself, he lifted his drink.
"To the God of Exile."
The other Lokis fell silent.
At last, they understood.
If they wanted to survive...
If they wanted to avoid being pruned...
Then they had to isolate themselves forever.
Live like hermits.
Leave no mark upon the world.
For beings who believed themselves destined to rule, it was the cruelest irony imaginable.
Outside the scene, the Avengers were equally moved.
These Lokis weren't what they had expected.
They were still tricksters.
Still liars.
Still troublemakers.
But they weren't purely evil.
They had feelings.
Regrets.
Loneliness.
Thor, in particular, felt a deep ache in his heart.
This wasn't his Loki.
His brother was still locked up.
Yet every Loki was still, in some sense, his brother.
And hearing that this Old Loki was captured simply because he missed Thor was painful.
He could have lived out his life peacefully.
Instead, he reached out toward family—and paid the price.
At that moment, Loki stood up.
"I'm leaving."
Black Loki looked at him.
"Leaving? Going where?"
Loki answered without hesitation:
"Out of here."
"Out of the Void."
"Back to the TVA."
Old Loki's story had awakened something inside him.
For the first time, he felt a longing for home.
