Chapter 130 - Fate and Error

Solace actually knew what his new abilities were; the abilities were related to the domain of Fate and Error. But that was not his reason to open the system; he was curious to see if the system would give them a description as it did on the Thread of Existence.

As he muttered the magical word, the same plain old runes appeared infront of him.

7)Thread of Error (False Paradox): Layer 1

Description...

Abilities:

De-sync (Active):

The user designates a "Save Point" by focusing or touching. This becomes an anchor.

By snapping fingers or clashing teeth, the user syncs their current location to the anchor. They instantly vanish from their current spot and reappear at the Anchor.

Flaw:

The Sensory Lag (Cumulative): If used more than 3 times in a single hour, the user suffers "Sensory Error." Their eyes might see what happened 2 seconds ago, while their ears hear what is happening now. This makes fighting extremely difficult as their brains struggle to process the "lag" in reality.

All of the locked Threads were now unlocked. The additions were Thread of Fate and Thread of Error.

Both had descriptions that Solace was looking forward to unveil.

But before that, he decided to take a look at his new abilities.

The first was Anchor, A passive ability that would give him visions of his fate in the form of Dreams.

So the Dream in the medical bay was a Prophetic vision?? Solace wondered.

It seemed to be the case.

Honestly, Solace himself didn't understand what that dream was supposed to convey. He was on a boat carrying a yellow coffin; his task was to deliver the coffin to the Island beyond reach. He understood that much, but didn't understand what it was supposed to mean.

Was it literal, where he would have to visit a Island to deliver a coffin one day, or was it some strange cryptic metaphor? He didn't know.

Avoiding the confusion, he moved on to his next ability. De-sync.

This ability allowed him to place an anchor anywhere in a small radius, which acted as a save point. Then, when he would snap his fingers, he would teleport to the anchor. Actually, it was more than that cause when he would sync with his anchor, he would also return to the state he was in while placing the anchor.

Meaning any injury that would happen after placing an anchor can be recovered instantly. His body would be back to the state he was while making an anchor.

"What a crazy ability," Solace muttered under his breath. He was happy to be finally leaving the average zone of Power.

Following that, he also noticed something strange. He realised that not all of his abilities were truly his.

It was not something he could prove, though. It was a feeling, a guess if you will.

Since he just had a breakthrough, his connection with his own soul and Threads deepened. And he sensed something strange.

His Threads were not connected to his soul the same way.

Thread of Chain, Thread of Glass were fragments of something greater, as if waiting for a realisation to merge. Meanwhile, the Thread of Stillness he felt was inherited through his father.

His father also had Thread of Stillness, which is why he suspected he had also inherited it.

Next were the Thread of Existence and Zero. These, he felt, were external powers. They didn't have any deep connection with his soul; in fact, it felt like they were forcefully attached to him. It was a terrifying realisation.

The recently unlocked Thread of Fate and Error were different. At first, it felt like Thread of Fate was an external power, but that was not the case. It was neither external nor truly his own. It was a mix of both. He couldn't know how; perhaps he needed to advance to a higher Layer to understand the connection.

Thread of Error, however, was in the truest sense his own. The connection with this thread was the deepest, as if it were a part of him, when he was still in his mother's womb.

Sigh

He sighed. This was perhaps the longest night Solace had experienced. First, the plan of attack on the church, Phoebe's turmoil, the existential questions, and now this.

It was truly a memorable night.

Setting aside, he moved on to the thing Solace was most excited about.

The descriptions.
