Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: The Memory Eater – The Erasure of the Past

📖 Chapter 30: The Memory Eater – The Erasure of the Past

(Huang Tian vs Nyx – Part 1 of 10: The First War of Existence)

At the heart of the ruined peak of Desolate Mountain, where the air still trembled from the aftermath of a breakthrough that had shattered the heavens and rewritten the laws of the world, Huang Tian sat in deep meditation, his body motionless but his soul roaring like a storm trapped in a bottle, for the moment had arrived — the moment when the mortal understanding of memory and self would be shattered, and from its ashes, the first true war of existence would rise, for he had spent 700 years refining flesh into something that defied decay, and now, with his Primordial Spirit born, his formation system complete, and his body fused with soul, he was no longer a cultivator — he was the Architect of Eternity, and the next step in his design was not strength, not speed, not even energy — but resistance, for the Void Sage Order had come, not to kill, not to conquer, but to erase, and if he was to outlive the void, he must first prove that memory is eternal.

He had felt their presence.

He had heard their whisper.

He had seen their shadows.

And now, they had come.

Not with an army.

Not with a storm.

But with silence.

And in that silence, one stepped forward.

Nyx, the First Hollow Sage, wrapped in robes of living void, his eyes two pools of nothingness, his voice not sound, but absence given form.

"You resisted the whisper," he said, not with pride, not with anger, but with sorrow. "But resistance is not victory.

It is only delay.

And I have come to show you —

that even the strongest memory… can be unmade."

Huang Tian did not stand.

He did not attack.

He only opened his eyes.

And said:

"Then try."

---

Phase 1: The Domain of the Unmaking – Activation

Nyx did not move.

He only existed.

And from his presence, the air changed.

Not warped.

Not burned.

But emptied.

A Domain of the Unmaking spread outward, not from force, but from conceptual erosion, a space where reality itself began to forget.

The grass vanished.

The stone vanished.

The air vanished.

Even the echo of sound began to fade.

And within it, Huang Tian felt something he had not felt in centuries:

Doubt.

Not of his power.

Not of his path.

But of his past.

"Who was I before this?"

"Why did I start?"

"Was it worth it?"

The thoughts were not his.

They were planted.

By the void.

By Nyx.

By the truth.

But he did not fall.

He closed his eyes.

And burned the doubt with the Fortune Flame.

The flame roared — not with heat, but with will, a fire forged from the memories of his past life, from the pain of paralysis, from the dream of walking, from the will to live forever.

The domain shattered.

But Nyx did not retreat.

He only smiled.

"You resist.

Good.

But resistance is not enough.

Let me show you — the true power of the void."

Phase 2: The Erasure of Memory – First Strike

Nyx raised a hand.

Not to strike.

Not to attack.

But to touch.

And where his fingers passed, memory itself unraveled.

Huang Tian felt it — not in his body, not in his soul, but in his mind, as if a thread of his past had been cut.

A memory vanished.

Not destroyed.

Not forgotten.

Erased.

It was not a memory of battle.

Not of breakthrough.

Not of pain.

It was a memory of his mother, holding his hand in the hospital, whispering, "You will walk again."

Gone.

Not in his mind.

In existence.

Huang Tian did not flinch.

But for the first time in 1,000 years, his Primordial Spirit flickered.

Nyx spoke:

"You build eternity from memory.

But what if I take the foundation?

What if I erase the reason you began?"

Another touch.

Another memory.

The first time he stood on Desolate Mountain.

The first breath of spiritual energy.

The first feeling of life.

Gone.

Huang Tian's body trembled.

Not from pain.

Not from fear.

But from loss.

But he did not fall.

He activated the Infinite Pulse Array, drawing in energy from stars, void, and the world's spiritual veins, compressing it in his dantian, and using it to reinforce his soul.

He recalled the memory.

Not from the past.

But from calculation.

He had recorded every moment, every thought, every feeling — not in emotion, but in logic, in design, in blueprint.

And so, he rebuilt the memory.

Not as it was.

But as it should be.

The flame burned brighter.

And the erasure stopped.

---

Phase 3: The Counterattack – The Fortune Flame's Roar

Huang Tian stood.

And the mountain trembled.

He did not use God Step.

He did not use Divine Body strength.

He used only will.

He raised his hand.

And the Fortune Flame erupted — not as fire, but as memory given form, a wave of golden light that carried the weight of 1,000 years of struggle, of pain, of creation.

It struck Nyx.

But did not burn.

Nyx only absorbed it.

And smiled.

"You fight with memory.

But memory is finite.

And I am infinite."

He raised both hands.

And the Domain of the Unmaking expanded — not in space, but in time, reaching into Huang Tian's past, seeking to erase not just memories, but events.

The cave.

The mountain.

The breakthrough.

All began to fade.

Huang Tian realized:

This was not a battle of strength.

It was a battle of existence.

And if he lost, he would not just die.

He would never have existed.

Phase 4: The Final Defense – The Blueprint of Eternal Design

He did not retreat.

He activated the formation system.

- Infinite Pulse Array — to stabilize his energy

- Veil of the Unseen — to hide his presence from the void

- Eternal Desolation Array — to create a zone of resistance to erasure

- Primordial Cauldron Formation — to compress and store his memories in folded dimensions

He embedded his core memories into the formation — not as data, but as laws, as principles, as immutable truths.

And he wrote in blood on the stone wall:

"Project: Memory Preservation – Phase 1

Objective: Prevent erasure of foundational memories.

Method: Store memories in folded dimensions, anchored by Fortune Flame.

Note: If memory is erased, identity collapses.

I must not forget.

I must not cease."

The domain pushed back.

The erasure slowed.

But not stopped.

Nyx stepped forward.

And touched Huang Tian's forehead.

And for a single moment, 10 years of memory vanished — not just of cultivation, but of who he was.

Who he had been.

Why he had begun.

What he had built.

All gone.

Huang Tian fell to his knees.

But did not close his eyes.

He whispered:

"I… am… the Architect."

And from the void, the flame rekindled.

---

Phase 5: The Aftermath – A War Without End

Nyx stepped back.

The domain collapsed.

The void retreated.

But the damage was done.

Huang Tian sat in silence, his body whole, his soul scarred.

He did not know how long he had been gone.

He did not know what he had forgotten.

But he knew one thing:

They could hurt him.

Not with force.

Not with energy.

But with truth, with emptiness, with the end of all things.

And they would come again.

Not to kill.

Not to conquer.

But to erase.

He stood.

And the mountain held its breath.

He wrote in blood on the stone wall:

"Enemy: The Void Sage Order – Nyx.

Ability: Memory Erasure, Domain of the Unmaking.

Weakness: Unknown.

Countermeasure:

- Store memories in folded dimensions.

- Reinforce identity with Fortune Flame.

- Develop new technique: 'The Unbreakable Self'.

Note: This is not a war of strength.

It is a war of existence.

And I will not lose."

He closed his eyes.

And the mountain trembled.

Not from energy.

From recognition.

The war had begun.

And it would not end in ten days.

Or ten years.

Or even ten thousand.

It would end only when one of them ceased to be.
