If a cultivator were ever possessed, they must not despair. They must not surrender their will. Only an unbroken mind could resist a ghost.
She remembered something else too.
In her previous life, she had once been possessed. Trapped inside a terrifying illusion, she had harmed herself repeatedly while believing she was taking revenge on enemies that did not exist.
That trauma had followed her even into this life.
'Not again.'
Her eyes hardened. 'This time, I will break free myself.'
She faced the ghost. "You will leave my body now."
Her voice sounded strange, distorted, no longer entirely her own, yet she refused to acknowledge it.
The entity finally gave her its full attention. There was amusement in its eyes.
"You are entertaining," it admitted. "But amusement does not grant you the right to command me."
A sphere of energy formed instantly and shot toward her.
A warning screamed inside her mind.
'Break through. Break free. Or disaster will fall.'
The attack struck.
