Chapter 18 - Karl's P. O. V

As I and Axel is sited here,i looked at him, the way he looks outside,i feel he is distanced, the way he looks outside it gives a feeling that he finds peace looking at the view of people working to and fro while sipping his hot chocolate slowly. I wanted to call him out from his train of thought but I fear I might receive a punch as an award.

But then I know I have to I just don't like him like this

"Bro I want to visit the library" I said calling back his attention with hope he would at least come with me,

"you are welcome to come, the Liberian is a nice lady" I said knowing right now I'm playing with my optimism, but a part of me really didn't wants leave him here, even if he is giving this I want to be left alone vibe.

"Well, I like the view here so you can go am not going with you" he replied still looking outside not even bothered to look at my direction,

His answer was like a smack on my face, but what us more vexing right now is the fact that I had hope that he would accept,

With all this rage rushing in I wish I could smashing his head on the transparent wall he was looking like how can someone be this cold even to someone he calls his best friend that is trying to help him get out of his miserable state, I have no guarantee that I won't punch him if I keep sitting here.

"Okey suit yourself" I said staring at him,

am sure if staring at people could kill, he would have dropped dead by now. I stood up picked up my cup of chocolate, walked to the counter and paid our bills, then dashed out into the crowd after about 3 minutes of walk I arrived in front of the city library.

"Hmmmm" I sighted,

I just hope he sits his ass in the cafeteria because this side of the country is really dangerous,

" Wait what tha, why am I even worried, after that nasty attitude he just gave he can go and go and fuck himself for all I care"

But I knew dip down I was worried for my friend,

but then I thought to my self his grown up and could take care of himself,

then opened the door and was greeted with the smell of the musty scent of books, I took a dip breath mesmerized that the library would never lose it scent and then let the breath I was holding out.

As I opened my eye I noticed a figure of an aged woman.

"Good day Mr. Harrison its been a while" Mrs. joseph the aged Liberian said

"Good day Mr. joseph it has really been a while" I greeted back with a worm smile " how is your health ma" I asked

" As you can see I am Hale and hearty" she said with a bright smile,

"ok ma that's nice to hear, I'll stay in the middle floor incase you need help in lifting anything", I said and started walking forward, "okey dear I'll keep that in mind" she said. Hearing this I turned and flashed her a polite smile while I was on the stair case then I continued. My footsteps echoed through the hallow halls of the library. As I got closer the the musty scent of books reached my nose again, I mustards many people find peace in music, movies, swimming, but I find peace here in the mist of books, Finally I reached the middle floor a sprawling space filled with rows of lowering shelves, I paused, looking at the sea of books. The slience was palpable but was only broke by the footstep of the Liberian moving from shelf to shelf with books on her hand as she arranges them with an indifferent face. Then the sea of books caught my attention again, it seems they've added more books since the last time I walked to the shelf in search of something that could capture my attention. With determination I set off, my eyes scanning the shelves as I wove through the narrow spaces while reading out the names of the book I shoveled through, in a search that felt like forever, my hands and eyes stopped in front of a book that was dark blue mixed with green it held the scene of mystery and other world lines, looking at the tittle "The Cruel Prince" it emblazoned across the top a very bold latter, while the authors name "Holy Black" is written in small letters.

"I see you have picked something after a long time of searching" the Liberian Mrs. joseph said.

But my expression didn't change, she then moved to where I'm standing with her usual smile,

"the cruel prince is a fae romance with a country intrigue with a forbidden love" she said with her hand on my shoulder reassuring me to read the novel, thinking I'm beginning to lose interest.

"I think I'll take it" I said returning the smile then went to the reading table I choose, I sat there lost in suspense of each chapter i flip through, feeling I was no longer reading the book, but in the book, even though 'Cardan' being the youngest of the princes but he was indeed wicked, In every page I flipped through I wanted to punch him,

but what keep me was the courageousness 'Jude Durate' the female lead

but then in the dept of my intensed thought something interrupted me.
