Luo Feng woke up as usual.
[ Final mission – Kill the director ]
[ Location – The orphanage ]
[ Teleporting in one minute ]
[ Host please be prepared ]
Luo Feng looked at the stream of notifications, his mind racing.
First, he thought there was no point in searching if the system would eventually tell him the answer.
Then, another thought struck him—this system would never be so nice as to give him the answer for free.
So there could only be two reasons for something like this to occur.
Either the system was bored of waiting and wanted to see him fight—
Or the system was in a hurry.
The first reason could be removed easily because every interaction between them had been that of a worker and his boss.
So the second reason was the correct one.
That opened up to a more dangerous predicament.
What could make the system so hurried that it abandoned all pretense just to bite at the enemy?
Luo Feng's thoughts split into two once again.
Maybe a huge secret the system wanted to erase from the world was about to be exposed.
Or something was about to be born that could pose a threat to the system itself.
No matter the twists and turns, there was nothing he, as a human being, could do.
So he called Nia and instructed her to wait for him at the house they were currently living in.
The area was perfect for her to survive even with him gone, because there were no zombies in sight.
But he still gave her an ultimatum of a week.
If he wasn't back by then, she should assume he was either dead or at death's door.
Nia nodded and watched as Uncle Luo vanished before her eyes.
She was a bit scared of the silence and the loneliness.
But the sight of the twin stars floating in the sky through the window made her feel at ease.
She sat on the couch obediently and began to read a children's storybook Uncle Luo had found.
....
Luo Feng, dressed casually, appeared at the door of the orphanage.
He squinted at the signboard and calmly brought out his inventory.

"And who exactly is the one killing me?" Luo Feng squinted at the screen.
[ Lose and you will naturally die ]
[ There is no need for me to interfere ]
Luo Feng said nothing.
The bountiful harvest was enough to make a normal person happy, but he understood the reason for this.
The only reason the system was so generous was because the task was equally as dangerous as the rewards.
But Luo Feng never had a choice from the beginning.
He was first randomly taken by the system without the ability to resist.
Complaining was only met with silence and disdain.
So he had forced himself to accept it.
Now he could only take one step forward, one step at a time.
Luo Feng held the gun in his hands and entered the silent building.
The layout was that of a normal orphanage, with the reception at the front door.
He reached a hand behind the clean, bloody, and disordered desk.
There, he found a piece of paper with the map of the building outlined clearly.
He studied the layout, trying to guess the room where the principal was hiding.
Then his eyes narrowed at a hidden room drawn in an inconspicuous place.
It was labeled as the storage room.
But what kind of storage room was under the building, and combined with another storage room on top of it?
Honestly, it would be easy to miss because there was only "one" storage room.
A big rectangle with "storage room" written horizontally across it.
And in that rectangle was a tiny room sectioned off, with no name.
It was easy to ignore, and could be subconsciously explained as a mistake in the drawing.
But to Luo Feng, who was paying close attention, this was completely obvious.
Most importantly, anything related to a basement never ended well.
He tossed the map on the ground and walked forward cautiously.
He had already underestimated that madman once; he certainly wasn't going to do it again.
The gun ready in his hands, Luo Feng walked forward and turned his head around him.
But there was only the rustle of papers blown by the wind.
The sound of cloth dragging across the floor.
A door creaking against the wall due to the breeze.
Luo Feng drew closer and closer to the basement, an increasing sense of gloom pressing on him.
Then he heard it.
The sound of feet skidding on the floor.
Growling, like some sort of beast.
No—not beast. Zombies.
A lot of them.
Zombie children were rushing at him from the opposite end of the hallway.
Their short statures did not restrict their fast movements.
They bolted toward him with red eyes, beastly snarls, and saliva dripping from their mouths.
Luo Feng noticed their claw-like hands had varying disabilities.
Some had their right hands cut off cleanly.
Some had their hands bent at unreasonable angles.
Some dragged twisted legs.
Some crawled across the ground.
All in all, the wounds were clean and neat—but that only added to the horror.
Luo Feng set up the Fire Shield immediately and started his offensive.
He aimed the gun and shot.
Each bullet pierced directly into the heads of the zombies, creating holes.
But the zombie children didn't relent, crawling over their fallen comrades.
They had no rationality, no humanity left.
They only cared about tearing Luo Feng apart.
He looked at the dense crowd coming from all sides and made a quick decision.
Entangling with them would waste too much time—which was probably the very thing his enemy sought.
So instead of fighting in such a narrow space, it was better to withdraw.
He took a red pill and jumped out of the window beside him.
Glass shattered as he rolled onto the grass.
He didn't roll for long before standing back up.
Green and blue pills popped into his mouth.
His heavy breathing calmed, and the scratches from zombie claws and broken glass healed.
The zombie children bared their teeth at him from inside the building.
Luo Feng was surprised.
He hadn't expected the principal to be so smart.
If the zombie children had followed him outside, it would have been easier—
He could lure them away, or simply chuck bombs at them from a distance.
But no. The principal must have given them strict instructions not to leave.
That was excellent proof he'd found the right place.
So now what?
If he fought, the only way was to release his Fire Shield.
Chuck a lot of blue and green pills as he fought.
Shoot with one hand while swinging the machete with the other.
He could finish them off like that, but he didn't have the time to spare.
And their numbers—so many children.
The principal must have always been this villainous.
How many kids had he caught under the pretense of giving them a home?
And because they were slum kids, no one would investigate or care.
Truly, a beast in human clothing.
Since he wanted to play this way, Luo Feng would happily oblige.
He tied three bombs to the gun using a bandage from the novice pack.
Waved it at the kids.
Then threw it accurately at the basement where the zombie children were guarding.
He smiled as the bombs went off with a boom.
Losing such a good gun was a shame, but the result was satisfactory.
The upper floors above the basement reduced to dust, along with the zombie children.
Luo Feng dismissed the Fire Shield as the dust cleared.
Stuffed more green pills into his mouth as his injuries healed.
The basement door lay open amidst the rubble.
He didn't step in directly, but tossed five bombs inside.
The bombs seemed unlimited, but sadly the gun did not respawn.
And maybe because of the bombs, he felt they were becoming limited.
Basically only ten left.
So with the seven he'd already tossed, he had twenty in total.
The sound exploded with a loud boom, the room trembling.
Then silence.
Luo Feng sighed and brought out the machete.
He hoped the principal would come to him—but that man never liked to play by the rules.
He chewed the red pills and took a step forward, then stopped.
His eyes gleamed. He grabbed a handful of black pills.
The bombs' description included "objects."
So he tossed the black pills into the basement.
Then sent three bombs to explode them, along with more black pills.
The system hadn't described the poison effect.
So Luo Feng set up a Fire Shield and stepped back.
Black smoke filled the room until nothing could be seen.
He waited five minutes, wondering if he should toss more.
Then a figure rushed out.
The principal—disheveled, coughing.
Luo Feng didn't wait. He fired the novice gun.
Then tossed all the bombs he had in that direction.
After that, he rushed forward with the machete and Fire Shield.
The blade slashed through the air but missed—the principal was already gone.
The principal lunged, throwing a powerful fist.
But Luo Feng, now a martial artist with enhanced attributes, easily dodged.
He twisted his body and swung the machete.
The principal reflexively tried to dodge—
But he couldn't move.
One slash.
The machete cut off his head.
Luo Feng didn't relent.
He stuffed one last bomb onto the body.
The beheaded corpse blew into mush, the head with it.
He popped blue pills, staring vigilantly at the bloody remains.
But nothing happened.
Only when the system prompt appeared did he relax.
[ Congratulations ]
[ Final task complete ]
[ Mission of the host completed ]
[ Wish granted ]
Luo Feng was in a daze until he was teleported away.
When he opened his eyes, he was in front of his apartment door.
His real apartment door, with its familiar faded paint and scratches.
He looked around in a daze and saw Nia standing blankly beside him.
The feeling of the system—gone.
Still, he called out to it in his mind.
No reply.
He couldn't believe it was real. He opened the door in a hurry.
Tears welled in his eyes as he already imagined how dirty his apartment must be after so long.
The first thing he saw was the gaping mouth and red eyes.
Eyes only a zombie would have.
....
A presence—known to Luo Feng as the system—swept its perception across the basement.
It searched every corner carefully.
But there was only chunky flesh and blood belonging to Noi Karn splattered around the room.
Satisfied, the presence disappeared.
One second. Two seconds. A full minute.
Five minutes later, the flesh squirmed.
The blood gathered, reforming Noi Karn's body.
He lay in his original position, surrounded by the symbol.
Only this time, a slender leg belonging to a female stepped out of the shadows.
