'If you were to ask me how life is, it's pretty good. If it weren't for me almost dying many times, I'd even say it's better than my old life. Hell, it is. But there's something I can't shake off the feeling of. And it's the voice.
It's very existence creeps me out. It might be a fragment of my imagination, but it knows my name, my old life, everything about me. And, cares a lot for me. It follows me everywhere. Through places, rewinds, even dreams.'
'Since it loves me, I'm gonna assume it's a girl. But. The only time I can seek this voice out, is in the time span of the vacuum I'm in while I rewind time. N- Not saying I know that because I rewind time JUST to talk to her- I mean whatever it is. But… all in all. It's uncertain.'
There was knocking at his door.
{You're saying I don't belong here?}
"Maybe I am, alright? So-"
His door opened. Nagito snapped his head towards it.
"Talking to yourself? Okay…"
It was Vermy. She had gone out her way to resupply everybody's hygiene supplies.
"Y- Yeah. Thanks. For that."
"No problem."
She walked out without another word, shutting the door coldly.
'She seemed a lot sweeter my first time here.'
Nagito walked out of his room, reaching his pocket for his own customized HaloLink. The holographic phone with an indestructible screen and a cool design.
He had received mail from Lily, telling him training had been postponed a bit later. He sent back a thumbs up emoji. An addition Lily said she implemented herself.
Nagito heard a door creak from near by, and turned his head to check it out. It was steamy, glistening, towel-wrapped Carla. The towel lowly, wrapped around her chest. But not enough to expose anything. Nagito stared, mesmerized.
"Eyes up here."
He jumped, embarrassed at being caught. She went back in her room, after grabbing a cup of coffee. But it wasn't her chest, exactly he was staring at. Something just felt off.
But before he could think anymore of it, Lily mailed him back, telling him never mind about the training situation.
Nagito walked into the special A-Wing. A standing for AVALON. It was a part of the building separated from the rest of the others. Only for AVALON pilots.
Nagito swiped his keycard on the scanner, and the door opened up.
"Hey! You're late!"
Lily leaned over with her hand on her hips, scolding him.
"Do you know? How much I have to get you out of trouble all the time? I might actually snitch on you for all this someday, remember that!"
"I'm never late…"
Everything she said was ironic, because they were the opposite of what he does. As she kept rambling, he just had to ask.
"Are you purposely saying the opposite of what I do? Or are you just finding a way to talk to me?"
'Shit, I said that wrong.'
"Oh, please, like I'd want to talk to you for any more than I have to."
There was a faint blush on her cheeks.
They walked together to an isolated room, with one small, 9 feet tall mini-training AVALON-like mech sitting in the middle. Next to the wall, seemed to be a control center. Nagito walked over to the mech, and Lily walked to the control center.
"This is where we've been for the past couple weeks. Nothing new. Director wanted more statistics from you, so we're doing a short evaluation."
He nodded, climbing into the smaller cockpit. There were less complexities. He still had to wear a crown, which is necessary if you're going to duplicate an AVALON in a smaller, or any kind of form.
The syncing was much faster, due to the fact, that everything was smaller.
"Alright, let's get this evaluation going." He gripped the handle.
…
Cough. Cough.
Carla cleared her throat, her silver-white hair flowing through whenever she landed a punch on the bag.
It was a bit after training time, and since very, weird things are happening, she had to take her mind off things.
She was in a black compression shirt, and some shorts. Her knuckles were red, and she's already been in overtime for a while.
Panting, she wiped the sweat off her forehead, and took a seat, laying her head on the wall. A little bit after, the intercoms went on.
"Will all members of squadron 12, please report to Captain Ryan's office?"
They repeated it once more, before going off. Carla took a deep breath, then left her boxing room.
She caught Vermy on the way out, taking a walk around the facility. Tony came out of the gym, and Nagito, left Lily after he was called down.
Everybody reached Ryan's room. Everybody took a seat.
'What business could he have with us right now, a mission?'
Ryan cleared his throat.
"So, I'm here to inform you guys about a future mission in three days. It's another recon mission. And apparently, their sending us out with squadron 11, to explore outside of this deep forest."
Vermy spoke up first, after everybody took in the information.
"How long will this mission take?"
"That's something I can't really answer right now… but worst case scenario, maybe two days."
"Two days?" They spoke in unison.
"Yeah. But they'll send us in with plenty of supplies and weapons. Actually, speaking of weapons, we won't have AVALON-4.1 attend this mission. Or any AVALON at all in that fact. Since we're going far, there's a big possibility the AVALON will run out of it's rechargeable battery."
"I see. That does make sense." Carla said, in a raspy voice that made Nagito's head turn, but he didn't think much of it. Probably just needed to clear her throat."
"Got it. I'll be ready." Nagito spoke up.
"Good. Everybody else?"
They nodded in response quickly.
"Alright, and, you know, of course we want to succeed, but try not to have any casualties. Or in any case, be one. Alright?"
"Got it." 'How dangerous can a recon mission be?'
Nagito took a second to review his thoughts, realizing it could be VERY dangerous.
