Andre's Point of View
Everything had been spiraling too fast for anyone to breathe, let alone think. The accountant's death hung over all of us like a tightening noose, an invisible weight pressing on everyone's chest, but hitting Dylan and Ava the hardest.
And I hated it.
I hated feeling like we were always three steps behind someone who was playing a game we didn't even understand yet.
Earlier today, I had wanted to pull Ava aside and ask if she could help me throw a birthday party for Elena. Her birthday was in three days, and despite the chaos, I needed, she needed, something normal. Something happy. But Ava had enough on her plate, and I couldn't bring myself to pile more on her shoulders.
