Finn dragged a hand down his face. "Daphne… you shouldn't have hidden it from him."
She flinched, but didn't interrupt.
"Not just because he's your husband," Finn continued, his tone was softer now. He sounded more worried than angry.
"But because it's dangerous. That man, the Architect, is unstable. He kills without blinking, shows up where he shouldn't. That's not someone you keep secrets about."
Aidan nodded. "Finn's right. This goes beyond marriage problems. Your safety is on the line. The Architect isn't predictable, and men like that don't circle someone without a reason."
Daphne swallowed. "I know," she said. "I know that now."
Finn watched her closely. "Then tell us something. Why does he think he knows you?"
She shook her head. "I don't know who he is. Truly. I've tried to make sense of it, but nothing fits."
Aidan frowned. "Are you sure?"
Daphne hesitated, then spoke, her voice dropping. "He's not lying about knowing me."
