A few years later, life had bloomed into something beautiful and peaceful.
Arashi and Mizuki were now married. They lived together in a cozy little home filled with love, laughter, and the soft sound of tiny footsteps. The struggles of the past felt like a distant dream. What remained was the quiet happiness they had fought so hard to earn.
It was evening when Arashi returned from the office. He opened the front door, slipped off his shoes, and called out in a tired but happy voice.
"I'm home!"
From inside the house, quick little footsteps echoed across the floor. Their five-year-old daughter, Aiko, came running toward him with a bright smile on her face.
"Dad!" she shouted happily.
The moment Arashi saw her, his exhaustion vanished. He dropped his bag, rushed forward, and scooped her up into his arms, spinning her around once before holding her close.
"How's my little princess?" he asked, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. "Did you miss me?"
Aiko wrapped her small arms around his neck and nodded enthusiastically.
"I am fine, Dad! But I missed you sooo much!"
Arashi chuckled softly, his heart melting at her words. A warm smile spread across his face.
"Oh, is that so?" he teased lightly, gently bouncing her in his arms.
He carried her into the living room and sat down on the couch with a tired sigh. Aiko didn't leave his side. She climbed onto his lap and looked at him with sparkling eyes.
"Papa, bring your ear closer," she whispered, as if sharing the biggest secret in the world.
Arashi leaned in obediently, tilting his head so his ear was near her mouth. Aiko cupped her small hands around it and whispered sweetly,
"I love you sooo much, Papa."
The moment those innocent words reached him, Arashi dramatically clutched his chest and fell backward onto the floor, lying completely still with his eyes closed. He stayed there, pretending to be overcome by her love.
Aiko's eyes widened in panic.
"Mom! Mom!" she cried, her voice full of worry. "Come quick! Something happened to Dad!"
From the kitchen, Mizuki came running, wiping her hands on a towel. Her face was filled with concern.
"What happened? What's wrong?" she asked, rushing over.
Aiko pointed at Arashi lying on the floor.
"Look! Dad isn't moving! Something happened to him!"
Mizuki knelt down beside Arashi, her heart skipping a beat for a second. Both mother and daughter leaned over him together.
"Papa…" they said at the same time, their voices soft and worried.
Mizuki gently touched his shoulder.
"Arashi? What did you say to him, sweetheart?" she asked Aiko.
The little girl looked up with innocent eyes.
"Nothing… I just told him what you always say. I said 'I love you sooo much' to Dad, just like you told me to."
Mizuki smiled softly, understanding exactly what had happened. She looked down at Arashi, who was still lying motionless on the floor, though the corners of his mouth were twitching.
"See? Look what Dad is doing," Mizuki said playfully.
Aiko leaned closer, her little face full of curiosity. Suddenly, she giggled.
"Mom, Dad is smiling!"
At that moment, Arashi's eyes flew open. With a playful laugh, he sat up quickly and pulled both of them into a big, warm hug — one arm around Mizuki and the other around their daughter.
"I love you too," he said, his voice full of emotion. "I love you both so much."
Aiko squealed with delight and hugged him tighter. Mizuki rested her head against his shoulder, a soft, loving smile on her lips as she watched her husband and daughter.
For a long moment, the three of them stayed like that on the living room floor — wrapped in each other's arms, laughing and holding tight. The golden light of the setting sun streamed through the windows, bathing the room in a warm, peaceful glow.
Arashi closed his eyes, feeling completely content.
This was everything he had fought for.
This was his miracle.
This was home.
Suddenly, Arashi's phone buzzed with an incoming call. He glanced at the screen and looked up at Mizuki.
"It's a video call from Takumi," he said. "Come, let's talk to him together."
Mizuki smiled and sat beside him as Arashi picked up the call. The moment it connected, the camera was shoved directly up Takumi's nose. His voice came through loud and clear.
"Hello? Can you hear me?"
Arashi stared at the screen with a blank expression.
"We can hear you just fine. We just can't see your face. Move the phone a little further away… and where exactly are you right now?"
"Wait, wait," Takumi said cheerfully. "Let me add everyone else to the call first."
One by one, Takumi began adding the others until the screen was filled with familiar faces.
Once everyone had joined, they all started asking at once.
"Takumi, is everything okay? What happened?"
Takumi grinned.
"Guess!"
Miyu's voice came through immediately, flat and impatient.
"I don't have time for guessing games. Just say it already."
"Fine, fine!" Takumi laughed. "Look at this."
He turned the camera toward Hina, who was sitting quietly, cradling a newborn baby in her arms. The tiny face was peaceful and perfect.
"Everyone," Takumi announced proudly, "meet my second baby. Tell me honestly — looks exactly like me, right?"
A chorus of awws filled the call.
"So cute!"
From somewhere behind the camera, Hina's voice came through with quiet confidence.
"Not just you, Takumi. The baby looks like me too, you know."
Everyone burst out laughing.
Ayane and Ren were the first to speak.
"Congratulations, you two!"
Satoru and Miyu followed warmly, and then Arashi and Mizuki added their wishes as well.
"Have you decided on a name yet?" Arashi asked.
Takumi shook his head.
"Not yet. But forget that for now — we should all meet up sometime. Just like the old days, you know?"
Ren leaned back with a thoughtful look.
"That sounds great, honestly. But what do we do about all the kids? They'll turn the whole place upside down."
Miyu considered this for a moment, then nodded.
"You're not wrong. But here's what we can do — one day we all meet at someone's house, and another time we meet outside, just the adults, when the kids are at school."
Mizuki's eyes lit up.
"That's a perfect idea! And that way we can finally meet the new baby in person too."
Everyone agreed at once, the excitement clear in their voices.
After the call ended, Arashi set his phone down on the couch with a satisfied smile. The room felt warm and quiet again.
Then came the soft patter of small feet.
Aiko came running in from her room, clutching a piece of paper tightly in both hands. Her eyes were bright with excitement and she could barely contain herself.
"Papa! Mama! Look! Look what I made!"
She thrust the drawing forward proudly. It was a crayon drawing — messy and imperfect the way only a child's drawing could be. Three figures stood together. A tall one, a slightly shorter one, and a tiny one in the middle holding both their hands. Above them in uneven letters she had written "My Family."
Arashi stared at it for a long moment without saying a word.
Mizuki brought her hand to her mouth.
"Aiko…" she whispered softly.
"That's you Papa," Aiko pointed eagerly. "And that's Mama. And that tiny one is me! I'm holding both your hands see?"
Arashi carefully took the drawing from her small hands and looked at it like it was the most precious thing he had ever held. His throat tightened.
"It's perfect," he said quietly. "Absolutely perfect."
He reached out and pulled Aiko into his lap. Mizuki sat beside him, leaning into his side. Arashi wrapped one arm around Mizuki and kept Aiko close with the other, the drawing still held gently in his hand.
The evening grew still around them. The golden light faded slowly into a deep and quiet dark. And somewhere between the warmth and the silence, both Mizuki and Aiko drifted off to sleep in his arms.
Arashi didn't move.
He just sat there, holding them both, looking at the little crayon drawing in his hand one more time.
Then he closed his eyes and said softly, almost to himself —
"The world is loud. It always has been. But somehow, in this small quiet house, with these two souls sleeping beside me — all of it fades away. Maybe that's what peace really is. Not the absence of pain. Just the presence of them. And for the first time in my life — I have nothing left to search for."
Slowly, he reached out and wrapped his hand gently around Mizuki's. Then he looked down and took Aiko's tiny hand in his other. He held them both for a moment, feeling the warmth of their hands in his.
Then he closed his eyes and said softly —
"I am happy."
And just like that, he was asleep.
