Cherreads

Chapter 1178 - Ch: 333-338

Chapter 333 thinks the Hulk is a threat!

Lynn took off his soaking wet jacket and hung it by the door. "You could say that. Black Hawk's Agents are even more persistent than I imagined. I had to play a game of hide-and-seek with them in Central Park and finally lost them at the subway station." He looked around. "It seems you've already started working."

Gwen handed her brother a towel. "Yes, we're preparing the content for release. Are you sure no one followed you?"

Lynn dried his hair. "I'm sure. I used all my anti-tracking skills, including several feints where I deliberately exposed myself and then shook them off. Unless they have superpowers, there's no way they could have followed me here."

The three gathered around the living room table, and Lynn quickly scanned the information Ethan and Gwenhad organized.

"This is powerful," he nodded, "but we need a secure way to release it. If we release it directly from here, they might trace the IP address."

Gwen gave a confident smile. "I've already thought of that." She walked to the computer. "I've set up a multi-layered proxy server system. The signal will bounce through servers all over the World, making it almost impossible to trace the source."

Lynn looked at his sister with admiration. "Your skills are getting better and better. However, I have an even better idea." He walked to the office and took out a special laptop from an encrypted drawer. "This is confidential FBI equipment, using a special, strictly vetted account. If we release the information through this account, it won't only be untraceable, but it will also immediately attract the attention of high-ranking officials."

Ethan looked at the computer in surprise. "Are you sure you want to do this? This could jeopardize your career."

Lynn's expression was firm. "Some things are more important than a career. If Black Hawk is truly conducting human experiments, trying to create a controllable Hulkarmy, then stopping them is every law enforcement officer's responsibility, including mine."

Gwen, moved, hugged her brother. "Thank you, Lynn."

The three immediately got to work. Ethan was responsible for the final editing, ensuring the article was clear and powerful; Gwen handled the technical aspects, preparing all the evidence documents for release; and Lynn used his special channels to ensure the information would attract maximum attention once released.

The rain grew heavier, and the city outside the window was shrouded in a Water curtain. Streetlights appeared blurry and distant in the rain. Inside, the three worked intently, only the sound of typing and occasional discussions breaking the silence.

"We need to protect your identities," Lynn said after a moment of thought. "Once this information is released, Black Hawk will frantically search for the source."

Ethan stopped typing. "Understandable, but readers need to know this information is credible. Without a journalist's byline, credibility will be greatly reduced."

Lynn thought for a moment. "I have an idea." He pulled up the FBI account details. "This account has high internal credibility. We can release it under the name 'Federal Investigation Special Team,' without mentioning specific individuals. This protects you while maintaining the official nature of the information."

Gwen nodded. "That's actually better. If it looks like an internal leak from the federal government, the media will give it more attention."

They continued to work, adjusting the article's format and tone to make it appear as the result of an official internal investigation. After several hours of effort, the final version was complete.

Lynn checked the article and accompanying evidence files one last time, ensuring there was no information that could directly endanger Ethan and Gwen. "Ready?" he asked, his finger hovering over the keyboard.

Ethan and Gwen looked at each other, then nodded simultaneously. "Ready."

Lynn pressed the send button. A few seconds later, the system confirmed that the information had been successfully published to multiple high-impact news platforms and social media.

"Done," Lynn said softly, closing the computer. "Now we wait to see the reaction."

The three waited in silence, each lost in their own thoughts. The heavy rain continued outside, but the sound of the rain seemed to become more distant, as if the entire World was holding its breath, waiting for the moment of truth to explode.

In less than half an hour, the reactions began. First, an explosive spread on social media, then quick follow-ups by major news websites, and finally even television news began to interrupt broadcasts with urgent reports. Everyone was discussing the leak from the "Federal Investigation Special Team" about Black Hawk International's secret human experiments and the hunt for the Hulk.

Gwen monitored various news channels via the secure house's television. "It seems to have caused a sensation. Every major channel is reporting on it."

Ethan scrolled through his phone nearby. "Social media is also crazy. '#BlackHawkTruth' and '#SaveTheHulk' have become trending topics."

Lynn, meanwhile, monitored the internal FBI reaction via a secure channel. "FBI Headquarters is also in an uproar. High-ranking officials have already ordered a full investigation into Black Hawk International. At the same time, someone is trying to find the true identity of this'Special Team,' but the security measures I put in place should protect us for a while."

Ethan sat on the sofa, watching the news scroll across the TV, feeling a complex emotion. "I've always dreamed of a moment like this, when the truth is revealed, when the public finally understands the real situation with the Hulk. But now that it's really happening, I feel... a bit unreal."

Gwen sat beside him, gently holding his hand. "It's real, Ethan. You did it. We did it."

Lynn stood by the window, looking at the city in the rain, his expression serious. "This is just the beginning. Black Hawk won't give up easily. They have resources, they have influence, and they will do everything they can to suppress this information and eliminate those they consider 'leakers.'"

Gwen looked at her brother worriedly. "Do you think they'll come for us?"

Lynn turned around, his expression firm. "They'll try, but we're one step ahead. The use of the FBI account will make them think this is an internal leak, and at least in the short term, their attention will be focused within the agency. This gives us time, time to plan our next step."

Ethan asked, "What's next? We've already revealed the truth and attracted public attention."

Lynn walked to the table and spread out a city map. "Now, we need to find Bruce Banner before Black Hawk finds him. If they capture Banner, even with public attention, they could still continue their experiments in secret. We need to ensure his safety."

Ethan stood up and walked to the map. "According to my investigation, Banner was last seen in a low-income community in Bronx. He seems to be working there as a volunteer Doctor at a clinic, using a pseudonym."

Gwen also joined the discussion. "I found in Black Hawk's files that they believe Banner would be drawn to places with medical needs but limited resources. He seems to be using his medical knowledge to help those who can't access regular medical services."

Lynn pondered, marking several possible locations on the map. "This fits the psychological profile. A scientist burdened by an experimental accident, trying to atone by helping others." He turned to Gwen. "Can you find their search patterns for Banner in Black Hawk's files?"

Gwen nodded and walked to the computer. "I'll try. If we understand their search strategy, we can predict their actions and perhaps find Banner before them."

Ethan, meanwhile, began to organize all the information he had collected about Banner, trying to find a way to contact him. "The problem is, even if we find him, how do we make him believe we're here to help him? He's been evading authorities and Black Hawk for a long time and is surely very distrustful of anyone who approaches him."

Lynn pondered for a moment. "We need a reason he can't refuse." He looked at the rain outside, and an idea gradually formed. "We need to prove to him that we know the truth and are on his side."

Gwen looked up from her computer. "I've thought of a way. We can use the information we just released. If Banner is following the news, he'll definitely see these reports. We can include a message in the reports that only he can understand, a code, to tell him that we know his identity and want to help him."

Ethan's eyes lit up. "That's a great idea! We can post a specific message on social media, using scientific terms Banner is familiar with or keywords from his past research."

Lynn nodded, agreeing with the plan. "This might work. But we need to be careful not to be too obvious, so as not to attract Black Hawk's attention."

The three continued to discuss the details, formulating a plan to contact Banner and ensure his safety.

Meanwhile, media outlets across the city were frantically reporting on the explosive news. On television screens, serious anchors were analyzing the evidence released by the "Federal Investigation Special Team," experts were urgently called in for discussion, and the discussion on social media continued to escalate.

In every corner of New York City, people were discussing the astonishing leak. In cafes, offices, and subway stations, the Hulk and Black Hawk International became the topic of everyone's conversation. Public opinion began to shift, with more and more people questioning previous negative reports about the Hulk and starting to wonder if he was truly as dangerous as officially stated.

And on the other side of the city, a thin man with a hat and glasses sat in a small cafe, quietly watching the news report playing on the wall-mounted television. His eyes never left the screen, his expression gradually shifting from surprise to contemplation. This man was Bruce Banner, one of the World's most dangerous and misunderstood individuals.

As the news reported on the segment "Black Hawk International Hunts the Hulk," his hand trembled slightly, spilling some coffee from his cup. He quickly looked around, confirming that no one noticed his reaction, then took a deep breath, trying to remain calm.

Banner had been on the run, trying to stay away from those who pursued him, while also trying to avoid any pressure and anger that might trigger his transformation into the Hulk. But now, this leak changed everything. Someone knew the truth, someone was on his side. Perhaps, just perhaps, he wouldn't have to face all of this alone anymore.

He quietly left the cafe, blending into the busy streets of New York, his mind racing. In this post-rain city, different forces were converging: Lynn, Ethan, and Gwen's battle for truth; Black Hawk International's secret plans; and the fate of a scientist forced to hide his true identity. A struggle about heroes, monsters, and humanity had begun, and New York City would be its battlefield.

At FBI Headquarters, an emergency meeting was underway. High-ranking officials discussed the mysterious "Special Team" and the information they released. Some suspected an internal leak, others believed it might be a cyberattack, but no one could deny the authenticity and seriousness of the evidence.

"We need to immediately launch an investigation into Black Hawk International," a senior official said. "If these allegations are true, we are facing not just a private company's illegal activities, but a national security issue."

Meanwhile, at Black Hawk International's secret headquarters, an equally urgent meeting was taking place. The company's top executives looked grim, with major media reports about them playing on the screen.

"Find out who this 'Federal Investigation Special Team' is," a middle-aged man in a suit coldly ordered, "no matter the cost. At the same time, accelerate the progress of the 'Emerald Fist' project. We don't have much time now."

On the other side.

The television in the safe house suddenly blared with an urgent news alert, and the three immediately turned their gaze to the screen.

"Breaking news," the anchorwoman's voice was tense and professional, "the appearance of the Hulk has just been reported in Midtown Manhattan. According to eyewitness descriptions, the Hulk appears to be in an extremely enraged state and has caused damage to multiple buildings. Police and emergency responders are rushing to the scene, urging citizens to stay away from the area."

Blurry footage shot on a phone appeared on the screen, showing a giant green figure moving between buildings, with explosions and screams heard in the distance.

"Oh my God," Ethan stood up, staring at the screen. "This is what they wanted."

Lynn frowned. "What do you mean?"

"Black Hawk," Ethan quickly explained. "The information we released put immense pressure on them; they needed to fight back. What better way to prove their point than a 'rampage' by the Hulk? This will make the public believe that the Hulk is indeed a threat and needs to be controlled or eliminated."

Gwen's fingers flew across the keyboard. "Social media has already started to turn, with many people saying this proves the Hulk is dangerous and our leak was misleading."

Lynn walked to the equipment cabinet, taking out his FBI gear, including firearms and communication devices. "I need to go see for myself."

"Lynn, it's too dangerous!" Gwen said worriedly.

Lynn checked his firearms, ensuring everything was in order. "If Ethan's theory is correct, then Banner is in extreme danger right now. Black Hawk will likely use this opportunity to try and capture him." He looked at Ethan. "How much do you know about Banner's transformation process?"

Chapter 334: Exposing Black Hawk's conspiracy!

Ethan was thinking, "According to my research, Bannertransforms into the Hulk under extreme stress or anger.

Once he transforms, his rational mind is dominated by rage until he calms down or becomes exhausted.

After transforming back to human form, he is usually extremely weak and needs to recover."

"That's our chance," Lynn said, "After he transforms back into Banner, he'll need help and will be very vulnerable."

Gwen stood up, "I'm coming with you."

"No," Lynn said firmly, "You and Ethan stay here and continue to control public opinion through the media.

Remind people of Black Hawk International's truth and question the suddenness of this incident."

Ethan nodded, "I understand.

We can raise this question: Why did the Hulk suddenly appear and go berserk after our exposé?

It's too much of a coincidence, isn't it?"

"Exactly," Lynn put on his bulletproof vest, "Meanwhile, try to hack into Midtown's surveillance cameras.

I need to know where Banner is and if Black Hawk International has already deployed."

Gwen immediately sprang into action, "I'll set up an encrypted communication channel.

Through this, I can transmit information to you in real-time without being intercepted."

Lynn took the special communicator Gwen handed him, put it in his ear, "Test it."

Gwen typed a few commands on the computer, then spoke into the microphone: "Lynn, can you hear me?"

"Loud and clear," Lynn confirmed, then looked at Ethan, "Is there anything else I need to know about Banner or the Hulk?"

Ethan thought for a moment, "One thing is important: Although the Hulk appears destructive, he seems to have some cognitive abilities.

In certain situations, he shows a tendency to protect innocents.

If you can approach him in a non-threatening way, you might be able to... but that's too risky."

Lynn nodded, "I understand.

I'll be careful."

He walked towards the door, but before leaving, he turned to look at Gwen and Ethan, "No matter what happens, do not leave the safe house.

If I don't return within six hours, activate emergency protocols.

Gwen knows what to do."

Tears welled up in Gwen's eyes, but she maintained a professional demeanor, "Understood.

Be careful, brother."

Ethan nodded solemnly at Lynn, "Good luck."

Lynn left the safe house, quickly took the elevator down to the underground garage, where several unassuming but high-performance vehicles, prepared for emergencies, were parked.

He chose a black Ford, started the engine, and drove into the streets of New York after the rain.

"Gwen, give me real-time updates," Lynn said through the communicator, driving quickly but carefully towards Midtown.

"On it," Gwen's voice came through clearly, "I've hacked into traffic cameras and emergency channels.

The Hulk was last sighted near 42nd Street and 6th Avenue, moving towards Central Park.

Police have cordoned off the surrounding area, and emergency responders are evacuating civilians."

Lynn frowned, "Any signs of Black Hawk International?"

"No clear indications yet, but there are reports of several unidentified black helicopters hovering over the area."

"Sounds like their style," Lynn murmured, accelerating towards the scene, "Keep looking for any possible Black Hawk International Agents or vehicles."

As Lynn approached Midtown, traffic became increasingly congested, with many people trying to flee the danger zone.

He bypassed several side streets, used his FBI Agentidentity to pass several Police roadblocks, and finally parked his car a few blocks from the scene, deciding to proceed on foot.

"Lynn, new development," Gwen's voice suddenly came through, "According to the latest social media live streams, the Hulk seems to have disappeared inside Central Park.

Many speculate he may have transformed back into Banner."

"This is our chance," Lynn said, quickening his pace towards Central Park, "Do you have an exact location?"

"Near the southeast corner of the park, close to 59th Street.

But be careful, the Police are organizing a grid search."

Lynn quickly adjusted his route and headed in the indicated direction.

Central Park was unusually empty on this rainy evening; the usually bustling walkways had almost no pedestrians, only the distant sound of Police sirens and hovering helicopters broke the silence.

He carefully avoided the main paths, moving along the edge of the woods, using his FBI Agent training to stay hidden.

As he approached the southeast corner of the park, he noticed several groups of Police search teams, carrying flashlights and Police dogs, systematically searching every corner.

"Gwen, I need a more precise location," Lynn whispered, crouching behind a large tree, observing his surroundings.

"Analyzing thermal imaging data... wait, I think I found something.

There's an isolated heat source near a maintenance shed in the southeast corner of the park; its body temperature seems higher than normal.

It might be Banner."

Lynn moved quickly but cautiously in the indicated direction, avoiding the search teams.

The maintenance shed was hidden behind a low thicket of bushes, a simple brick structure, and the door looked like it had been locked for a long time.

He approached cautiously, listening carefully for any sounds.

A faint groan came from inside the shed, sounding like someone was in pain.

Lynn decided to take a risk, gently knocked on the door three times, then whispered, "Dr. Banner?

I'm here to help you."

A brief silence, then a weak response: "Leave... danger..."

"Dr., I know who you are, and I know Black Hawk International is hunting you," Lynn said quickly, "We released the truth about them.

I'm not here to hurt you, I want to help you."

Another silence, then a hoarse "Who are you?"

"My name is Lynn Hall, an FBI Agent.

But I'm not here in an official capacity.

I understand your situation, and I know the truth about the Hulk.

Please let me help you."

The door shook slightly, as if someone inside was hesitating whether to open it.

Lynn heard faint footsteps, then a pained gasp.

"Dr., I can tell you're injured.

The Police and Black Hawk International will find you soon.

Let me help you."

After a few more seconds, the door slowly opened a crack.

Lynn saw a trembling hand and a bloodshot eye.

"Come in quickly," a weak voice said.

Lynn quickly slipped into the shed and closed the door.

The interior was dim and cramped, with only faint moonlight filtering through a small window.

In the corner, a thin man was huddled, leaning against the wall.

He was wearing torn clothes, looked extremely exhausted, and had a bleeding cut on his forehead.

This was Bruce Banner, the scientist misunderstood by the World, and also the terrifying Hulk.

At this moment, he looked small and helpless, completely unlike the behemoth capable of destroying buildings.

Lynn approached cautiously, "Dr. Banner, I'm Lynn Hall.

I know the truth about you and the Hulk, and I know Black Hawk International is hunting you."

Banner looked up, his eyes full of suspicion and exhaustion, "How did you find me?"

"We've been investigating Black Hawk International," Lynn explained, while taking out a small first-aid kit and starting to treat Banner's wound, "We discovered their 'Emerald Fist' project and know they want to capture you and study your abilities.

Earlier today, we released this information, trying to warn you."

Banner flinched slightly as Lynn cleaned the wound on his forehead, "Today's incident.

It wasn't my intention.

Someone... they injected me with something.

Suddenly, I felt extreme anger, uncontrollable anger.

Then... it was all a blur."

Lynn nodded, "I suspect Black Hawk International did it.

They needed to prove the Hulk was a threat and weaken the impact of our exposé."

Banner closed his eyes, seemingly trying to control his emotions, "How many... casualties?"

"As far as I know, it's mainly property damage, no confirmed death reports," Lynn said, trying to keep his voice calm, "You seemed to avoid densely populated areas even in that state."

Banner opened his eyes, slightly surprised, "Really?

I rarely remember what happens during a transformation."

Lynn bandaged Banner's wound, then took out a bottle of water and a few energy bars from his backpack, "These should help you regain your strength.

We need to get out of here as soon as possible."

Banner gratefully accepted the water and food, "Why are you helping me?

You're FBI, you should be arresting me."

Lynn looked at the tired scientist, "Because I believe in doing the right thing, not just following orders.

You're not a monster, Dr. Banner, you're misunderstood.

I've seen Ethan Blake's investigation, seen the evidence of you saving people in your transformed state."

Banner took a few bites of the energy bar, seeming to slowly regain some strength, "Ethan Blake?

The journalist?"

"Yes, he's collected a lot of evidence about you, all indicating that the Hulk is not the indiscriminately destructive monster the media portrays."

Banner shook his head, "He's wrong.

I am dangerous.

Uncontrollable."

"Perhaps," Lynn admitted, "But your nature is not evil.

Even in that state, you've shown an instinct to protect innocents."

Their conversation was interrupted by the sudden approach of footsteps and dog barks.

"The search party is here," Lynn whispered, quickly standing up, "Can you walk?"

Banner tried to stand, but his legs were clearly weak, "Not quite sure..."

Lynn glanced out the window, seeing flashlight beams moving towards the shed, "No time left."

He quickly formulated a plan, "I'm FBI, I can use that identity to cover you.

Follow me."

He helped Banner stand up, one hand on his shoulder, the other ready with his FBI Agent identification.

They had just opened the door when they saw a group of Police with Police dogs turn the corner, their flashlights shining directly on them.

"Stop! Identification!" a Police officer shouted.

Lynn held up his FBI Agent identification, "Lynn Hall, FBI Agent.

I'm on a special mission."

The Police hesitated, the flashlight beams on his identification.

"What mission?

We haven't received any notification of FBI operations," the lead officer said, still wary.

Lynn remained calm, his voice full of authority, "This is a highly classified operation related to today's incident.

I'm escorting a key witness from the scene."

He gestured to Banner, "This gentleman witnessed the entire incident and may possess important information about the Hulk."

The officers exchanged glances, clearly weighing whether to believe this suddenly appearing FBI Agent.

"I need to confirm," the lead officer finally said, pulling out his walkie-talkie.

Lynn's heart raced, but he remained outwardly composed, "Of course, but please remember, this is a classified operation.

Contact your superiors and tell them the codename 'Emerald Fist'.

They'll understand."

The officer hesitated; the mysterious codename seemed to make him uneasy.

Just then, his walkie-talkie crackled, and an anxious voice reported suspicious activity on the west side of the park.

The officer made a decision, "Alright, Agent, you can take your witness.

But I'll need your contact information for follow-up."

Lynn quickly provided his FBI office number, knowing no one would answer at this hour, buying them valuable time.

After jotting down the information, the officer quickly left with his squad, heading to the new search location.

"That was amazing," Banner said weakly, after the Policewere out of sight.

"We need to keep moving," Lynn said, still supporting Banner, "Black Hawk International is likely searching too, and they won't be as easily convinced as the Police."

"Where to?" Banner asked, "Nowhere is safe."

"I have a safe house," Lynn replied, "My companions are there, including Ethan Blake.

We can protect you and help you expose Black Hawk International's conspiracy."

Banner seemed to consider the offer, a flicker of hope in his eyes, immediately replaced by worry, "What if I transform again?

I'll endanger all of you."

Lynn looked directly into Banner's eyes, "That's a risk we're willing to take.

You shouldn't face all of this alone, Dr..

Someone is willing to help you and believe in you."

Banner was silent for a moment, then nodded gently, "Alright, I'll go with you.

But if there's any sign I'm about to transform, you must leave immediately and protect yourself and your friends."

"Deal," Lynn said, then whispered into the communicator, "Gwen, I found Banner.

We're evacuating and need a safe route back to the safe house."

"Calculating," Gwen's voice came through, "The Policehave set up checkpoints at the main exits of the park, but a small gate in the northeast corner seems to be less heavily guarded.

I'll guide you."

Lynn and Banner began to move slowly but steadily in the designated direction, avoiding search teams and patrolling Police.

Although Banner was weak, he seemed to gradually regain some strength as they walked.

"What did they do to you?" Lynn quietly asked as they moved, "You mentioned someone injected you with something."

Banner shook his head, his expression pained, "I'm not sure.

I was at a cafe watching the news, saw the exposé about Black Hawk International.

As I was about to leave, I felt a sharp sting in my neck.

At first, I thought it was just ordinary pain, but a few minutes later, I started to feel extreme anger, uncontrollable anger.

Then... it was all a blur."

Chapter 335 A Complex Symbiotic Relationship

Lynn frowned, "It sounds like some kind of trigger, specifically designed to induce your transformation."

"It might be a modified version of adrenaline," Dr. Bannermused, his scientific instincts showing, "interacting with gamma radiation-mutated cells, accelerating the transformation process."

They continued, avoiding several search parties under Gwen's guidance. As they approached the small gate at the northeast corner of Central Park, Lynn noticed a black, unmarked van parked nearby, with several people in black tactical gear standing by it.

"Black Hawk," Lynn whispered, quickly pulling Dr. Bannerbehind a large tree. "Gwen, there are Black Hawk Agents at the northeast gate. We need another route."

"Understood," Gwen replied. "Walk 50 meters west; there's a section of the wall there that's lower, where you can climb over. I've already arranged for a taxi to wait outside."

Lynn and Dr. Banner changed direction, moving carefully to the west. When they reached the designated location, they found that this section of the wall was indeed lower, and several large tree branches extended over it, providing handholds for climbing.

"Can you climb over?" Lynn asked, looking worriedly at the still-weak Dr. Banner.

Dr. Banner took a deep breath. "I can try."

Lynn climbed the tree first, then carefully crossed the wall, landing on the sidewalk outside. He reached out his hand to Dr. Banner, helping the weakened scientist over the wall as well. Just as Gwen had said, a taxi was waiting nearby.

They quickly got into the car. Lynn gave the driver an address a few blocks from the safe house to avoid being followed. Throughout the journey, Dr. Banner remained silent, seemingly lost in his own thoughts.

"Thank you," Dr. Banner suddenly said after the taxi had been driving for some time. "It's been a long time since I've received any help."

Lynn looked at the tormented scientist, feeling a pang of sympathy. "You've carried too much alone, Dr.. No one should have to live like that."

Dr. Banner gave a bitter smile. "When you could turn into an uncontrollable monster at any moment, being alone is the safest option."

"Perhaps," Lynn said, "but things are different now. Black Hawk knows who you are, and they are actively hunting you. You need allies."

Dr. Banner pondered for a moment, then nodded. "Perhaps you are right. I'm too tired. Too tired to keep running alone."

The taxi stopped at the designated spot. Lynn paid the fare, then walked with Dr. Banner to the safe house, ensuring no one was following them. When they finally arrived, Gwen was already waiting at the door, her face etched with worry and relief.

"Lynn!" She rushed forward to hug her brother, then looked at Dr. Banner. "Dr. Banner, I'm Gwen. Welcome."

Dr. Banner nodded awkwardly. "Thank you."

They entered the safe house. Ethan was anxiously pacing in the living room, stopping immediately when he saw them, his eyes wide with surprise.

"Bruce Banner," he said almost reverently. "I've studied all your files, tracked every appearance of the Hulk. It's incredible to meet you in person."

Dr. Banner shifted uncomfortably, clearly unaccustomed to such attention. "You are Ethan Blake? The reporter who published articles about Black Hawk and the Hulk?"

Ethan nodded. "Yes. I've always tried to tell the World the truth—you're not a monster, Dr.. You're misunderstood."

Dr. Banner shook his head wearily. "You're too optimistic, young man. Regardless of my intentions, the Hulk is dangerous and uncontrollable."

"But he's also saved people," Ethan insisted. "I have evidence, lots of evidence, showing the Hulk saving people in disasters, protecting innocents."

Gwen interrupted the conversation, which threatened to turn into a debate. "Dr., you look exhausted. Perhaps you should rest first, and we can discuss these things tomorrow."

Dr. Banner gave her a grateful look. "Thank you, that would be very helpful."

Gwen took Dr. Banner to one of the bedrooms, providing him with clean clothes and some food. When she returned to the living room, Lynn and Ethan were talking in low voices.

"How is he?" Lynn asked.

Gwen sighed. "Very tired, both physically and mentally. I can't imagine how he's lived all these years, constantly on the run, afraid he would hurt others."

"He's safe now," Lynn said, "at least for the time being. Tomorrow we need to formulate a plan, not just to protect Dr. Banner, but also to completely expose Black Hawk's conspiracy."

Ethan glanced in the direction of Dr. Banner's bedroom. "He doesn't believe in himself. Doesn't believe the Hulkcan be a force for good."

"Understandable," Lynn commented, "considering everything he's been through. But perhaps we can help him see another possibility."

The three continued discussing tomorrow's plan until late into the night. Gwen regularly checked on Dr. Banner, finding that he had finally fallen into a deep sleep, seemingly feeling safe for the first time in years.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, Black Hawk International's headquarters was brightly lit. Senior executives sat around a large conference table, the atmosphere tense.

"Are you saying you lost track of Dr. Banner?" a stern-faced man asked, his voice laced with menace.

"Yes, Director," an Agent reported. "We're almost certain he transformed back into human form inside Central Park, but by the time we arrived, he had disappeared. There are indications he may have received help."

"Help?" The Director narrowed his eyes. "What kind of help?"

"We're not sure, Officer. But several cameras in the park captured footage of a male leaving with Dr. Banner. We are currently performing facial recognition."

The Director pondered for a moment, then ordered: "Intensify the search. Dr. Banner is key to the 'Emerald Fist' project. Without him, our research will be severely hampered. At the same time, continue tracking the source of that 'Federal Investigation Special Team.' I suspect there may be a connection between the two."

The Agents quickly moved, leaving the conference room to execute their orders. The Director remained alone in the empty room, looking at the screen on the wall, which displayed various images and data of the Hulk.

"You won't run far, Dr. Banner," he murmured. "Whoever is helping you cannot change your nature. You will eventually return to our hands."

The next day.

The first rays of dawn pierced through the gaps in the curtains, casting a thin golden line on the floor of the safe house. Lynn rubbed his sore neck; a night of vigilance had left his body stiff. He quietly got up, careful not to make any sound, and walked to the kitchen to brew a pot of coffee.

The safe house was silent. Gwen and Ethan had finally succumbed to exhaustion in the early hours of the morning, sleeping in their makeshift beds. And Dr. Banner, the scientist misunderstood by the World, had not made a sound since being settled in the guest room last night.

The aroma of coffee soon filled the air, awakening Lynn's tired nerves. He leaned against the kitchen counter, contemplating last night's events and the plan for what was next.

"Good morning."

Lynn turned around and saw Bruce Banner standing at the kitchen doorway, looking much better than last night, but still tired. He was wearing a slightly oversized T-shirt and sweatpants that Gwen had given him, looking a bit comical, but at least clean and tidy.

"Dr. Banner, good morning. I hope you slept well?" Lynnasked, pouring a cup of coffee for Dr. Banner.

Dr. Banner took the coffee, nodding gratefully. "Better than any night in recent months. Thank you for taking me in." He carefully took a sip of the hot coffee, then winced, gently touching his bandaged forehead.

Lynn noticed it. "That wound needs to be re-dressed. Last night we only did emergency treatment; now it should be cleaned more thoroughly to prevent infection."

Dr. Banner shook his head. "No need. My body... has a certain regenerative capacity. Even in human form, it heals faster than an ordinary person's."

Lynn raised an eyebrow. "Interesting. The effects of gamma radiation aren't limited to the transformation process?"

Dr. Banner gave a bitter smile. "Yes, it changed my entire physiology. To some extent, even the me now is not entirely human anymore."

Lynn could feel the pain and self-doubt in Dr. Banner's words. He realized that this man was not only escaping external threats but also his own inner fears.

"Nevertheless, let me take a look," Lynn insisted. "I learned some basic medical skills on the battlefield."

Dr. Banner hesitated, then finally nodded in agreement. Lynn led him to the bathroom, where there was better light and medical supplies stocked in the safe house.

"Please sit," Lynn gestured for Dr. Banner to sit on the toilet lid, then began carefully removing the hastily bandaged dressing from last night.

When the bandage was completely removed, Lynn was somewhat surprised to find that the wound had indeed begun to heal, much faster than an ordinary person's recovery speed. But there was still a noticeable scratch, and the surrounding skin was slightly inflamed.

"You're right, it's healing quickly," Lynn commented, gently cleaning around the wound with an alcohol swab. "But it still needs to be treated."

Dr. Banner winced slightly when the alcohol touched the wound, but he didn't complain. Lynn noticed that besides the fresh wound on his forehead, Dr. Banner's body also bore many old scars, especially on his arms and shoulders, suggesting he had been through multiple violent conflicts.

"These old wounds... were they all left after your transformations?" Lynn asked carefully, while beginning to re-bandage the wound on his forehead.

Dr. Banner's eyes dimmed a little. "Most of them. Every time I transform back into human form, I usually find myself in some strange place, covered in injuries." He paused. "Sometimes, I don't even remember what happened, and can only learn about what... he... did through news reports."

"He?" Lynn noticed Dr. Banner's designation for the Hulk. "You consider the Hulk a separate entity?"

Dr. Banner was silent for a while, seeming to organize his thoughts. "Not entirely. He's a part of me, I know. But at the same time, he's like... another personality, one driven by pure rage and instinct. We share memories, but not completely. Sometimes, I can feel his presence, even when I haven't transformed."

Lynn finished bandaging, then stood up straight, giving Dr. Banner some space. "It sounds like a complex symbiotic relationship."

Dr. Banner gave a bitter smile. "You could say that. It's just that this symbiosis is often catastrophic for those around me."

They returned to the kitchen, and Lynn began to prepare a simple breakfast. Dr. Banner sat at the small table, silently looking out at the city landscape through the window.

"Ethan believes the Hulk is not just a destructive force," Lynn said while frying eggs. "He has gathered a lot of evidence showing the Hulk saving people in multiple crises."

Dr. Banner looked up, a flicker of surprise in his eyes. "Really?"

Lynn nodded. "Yes. I've seen his files. In a building collapse incident, the Hulk held several trapped children in his arms, protecting them from falling concrete. In a flood, he built a temporary dam, buying time for evacuation efforts. There are many similar examples."

Dr. Banner seemed lost in thought. "I... I rarely remember everything that happens during a transformation. Only fragments, vague impressions. But sometimes, I do feel a... protective impulse."

"Perhaps the Hulk isn't the purely destructive force you imagine," Lynn said, placing the fried eggs and toast in front of Dr. Banner. "Perhaps he reflects something deep within you—not just anger, but also the instinct to protect others."

Dr. Banner slowly ate his breakfast, seemingly digesting the idea. Just then, Gwen, sleepy-eyed, walked into the kitchen, startled by the presence of Dr. Banner and Lynn.

"Oh! Good morning," she quickly tidied her messy hair. "Dr. Banner, how are you feeling?"

Dr. Banner nodded politely. "Much better, thank you. Please just call me Bruce."

Gwen smiled, taking the coffee Lynn offered her. "Bruce. I see Lynn has already helped you re-bandage your wound."

Dr. Banner gently touched the new bandage on his forehead. "Yes, your brother has quite the medical talent."

Gwen laughed. "That's one of his few gentle skills."

Lynn feigned a grunt of displeasure, but the corners of his mouth turned up slightly. This relaxed family atmosphere seemed to make Dr. Banner a little uncomfortable, but it also visibly eased his tension.

Ethan soon joined them, and throughout the morning, the four discussed the current situation and possible action plans. Ethan presented the extensive information he had gathered about Black Hawk International, while Dr. Banner offered his own experiences and observations, including his history of being hunted and his understanding of the "Emerald Fist" project.

"From what I know," Dr. Banner explained, "they have been trying to replicate the effects of gamma radiation on me. But most experiments have failed because they don't understand a key factor: my unique genetic structure."

"Is your DNA different?" Gwen asked, clearly intrigued by the scientific aspect.

Dr. Banner nodded. "Some genetic experiments my father conducted years ago altered my DNA. Gamma radiation activated these dormant genetic mutations, ultimately leading to the birth of the Hulk. Without this special genetic background, an ordinary person exposed to a similar dose of gamma radiation would only get sick or die, not transform."

Chapter 336 Suspicious Armed Personnel

"This is why Black Hawk International wants to capture you so badly," Lynn concluded. "They need your DNA to complete their experiments."

"Exactly," Banner confirmed. "And based on the information I've gathered during my escape, they might have already had some success. Not a complete replication, but perhaps some kind of limited shapeshifting ability, or enhanced strength."

The atmosphere in the room grew heavy. The thought of an army of Hulk-like warriors was indeed a terrifying prospect.

In the afternoon, Lynn noticed that Banner looked increasingly tired, his face a little pale.

"Are you alright?" he asked, interrupting the ongoing discussion.

Banner managed a weak smile. "Just a bit tired. The recovery period after a transformation usually requires more rest and nutrition."

Lynn stood up. "We should let you rest. But first, I think we should check your other injuries. I noticed you're walking a bit unnaturally; there might be some injuries we didn't discover last night."

Banner hesitated. "There might be a few bruises and scrapes, but nothing serious."

"It's better if I take a look," Lynn insisted. "We can't risk any wounds getting worse. Especially considering our situation, we might not have easy access to professional medical help."

Banner finally agreed, and the two re-entered the bathroom. This time, Banner removed his shirt, revealing a scarred upper body. Lynn tried not to show his surprise, but Banner's physical condition was much worse than he had expected. In addition to old scars, there were multiple new bruises and abrasions, especially on his back and rib cage.

"This requires more professional treatment," Lynn said seriously. "I'm worried there might be fractured ribs or internal damage."

Banner shook his head. "No need to worry, really. My healing ability will handle these. Just need time and rest."

Lynn was not entirely convinced but decided to respect Banner's assessment. He began to clean and treat the visible wounds, checking for any signs of fractures. As Banner had said, some of the minor injuries had indeed started to heal, but several still looked quite severe.

"You need more antibiotics and painkillers," Lynn said. "The safe house's medical supplies are limited. I need to go out and replenish some."

Banner wanted to object, but Lynn's expression told him it was not a subject for discussion. "Alright," he finally agreed. "But please be careful. Black Hawk InternationalAgents might be searching all over the city."

Lynn nodded. "I know. I'll proceed with caution."

After treating Banner's wounds, Lynn explained the situation to Gwen and Ethan and told them he needed to go out for a while.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Gwen asked worriedly. "It might be dangerous outside."

"We need these supplies," Lynn said firmly. "Banner's injuries are more serious than we thought. And I'll be careful. You two stay here, take care of Banner, and continue organizing the information. I'll be back soon."

He put on a plain jacket and a hat as a simple disguise, then left the safe house. The weather outside was gloomy, hinting at possible rain. Pedestrians on the street hurried along, no one paying attention to the unremarkable man.

Lynn first went to a large pharmacy, purchasing various medical supplies: antibiotics, painkillers, more bandages, and disinfectants. Then he entered a grocery store, buying enough food and drinks for four people for several days. Throughout the process, he remained vigilant, constantly observing his surroundings for suspicious individuals or signs of surveillance.

As he left the grocery store, preparing to return to the safe house, a sense of unease washed over him. Years of FBI training and field experience had sharpened his intuition. He pretended to casually stop to adjust his shopping bags, while subtly observing his surroundings.

Almost immediately, he noticed a black van across the street, with two people inside who seemed to be intently observing the area. Their posture and alertness indicated they were not ordinary citizens. More conclusively, Lynnrecognized one of them—one of the Black Hawk International Agents from Central Park last night.

Lynn showed no sign of recognizing them but continued walking, changing his route, and entering a busy commercial street, hoping to lose them in the crowd. In the reflection of a storefront window, he saw the black vehicle slowly following him.

"Damn it," he cursed under his breath, realizing he was being followed. He wasn't sure if they had recognized him or if it was just routine surveillance of a suspicious area. Regardless, he couldn't go directly back to the safe house, or he would put Banner, Gwen, and Ethan in danger.

Lynn quickened his pace and ducked into a large shopping mall. The dense crowd and multiple exits made it an ideal place to shake off a tail. He moved through various stores, sometimes stopping to pretend to shop, sometimes quickly changing direction.

After confirming that he had lost his pursuers, Lynn took out his phone and dialed Gwen's secure line.

"It's me," he said curtly. "Being followed by Black Hawk International. I've shaken them off, but I'm not sure if it's safe to return."

"Oh my God, Lynn," Gwen's voice was filled with worry. "Do you think they know the location of the safe house?"

"Unlikely," Lynn replied. "I followed all anti-surveillance procedures. But to be safe, I'll circle around for a while longer before coming back. Stay alert, and if there are any suspicious signs, initiate the evacuation procedure immediately."

"Understood. Be careful, brother."

Lynn hung up and continued to move through the city, sometimes taking the subway, sometimes walking, ensuring no one was following him. The entire process lasted nearly two hours, and finally, he was convinced he was safe and began to move towards the safe house.

However, just as he was about to arrive, an ominous feeling struck him again. He slowed his pace, carefully observing the block where the safe house was located. At first, everything seemed normal—pedestrians, cars, normal city activity. But then, he noticed another black vehicle parked on the corner, with one person inside who seemed overly vigilant.

Lynn immediately turned around, simultaneously pulling out his phone to contact Gwen again.

"Gwen, it's possible the safe house is being monitored. Don't move around, don't go near the windows. I need to confirm the situation."

"Lynn, Bruce's condition has worsened," Gwen said urgently. "He has a high fever and is sometimes delirious. Ethan says it might be a wound infection, or related to his special condition."

Lynn cursed. "He needs medical help, but we can't risk going to a hospital. Listen, I have a plan. Give me ten minutes, then I'll contact you."

After hanging up, Lynn quickly found a public phone booth and dialed 911.

"I want to report suspicious activity," he said in a deliberately altered voice. "At the intersection of 14th Street and 8th Avenue, there are several people in black watching a building, and they appear to be armed."

This false emergency call would draw the Police, temporarily distracting the Black Hawk InternationalAgents and giving them an opportunity to evacuate.

Subsequently, Lynn called the safe house. "Gwen, listen to me. I just called the Police and reported seeing armed individuals near you. The Police will arrive soon, and Black Hawk International will temporarily retreat, not wanting to attract attention. This is our chance. When you hear the sirens, you and Ethan help Bruce leave through the back door. I'll be waiting for you at the abandoned warehouse two blocks away."

"Understood," Gwen responded quickly. "But can Brucewalk?"

"He must," Lynn said firmly. "Staying there is more dangerous. If necessary, Ethan and you can support him."

Lynn hung up and quickly moved to the designated rendezvous point. He had discovered this abandoned warehouse during his previous work in the area, a temporary emergency evacuation point. He used a spare key to open the rusty side door and entered the dark interior. The warehouse had been vacant for years, the air filled with dust and mold, but at this moment, it was exactly the hidden place they needed.

Approximately five minutes later, sirens could be heard in the distance. Lynn waited nervously, hoping his plan would work. About ten more minutes passed, and the warehouse door was gently knocked—Gwen's agreed-upon signal. Lynn carefully opened the door and saw Gwen and Ethan supporting a weakened Banner standing outside.

"Come in quickly," Lynn whispered, helping them bring Banner inside the warehouse.

Once in the relatively safe environment, they gently laid Banner on the ground. Lynn immediately checked Banner's condition, finding that he indeed had a high fever, a flushed face, and rapid breathing.

"What happened to him?" Lynn asked, simultaneously taking out medical supplies from his shopping bag.

"It suddenly worsened about an hour ago," Ethanexplained. "It started with shivering and sweating, then a high fever. He said it might be related to the transformation—his body needs time to adjust after each transformation. But this time seems particularly severe."

Lynn gave Banner antibiotics and fever reducers, then wiped his hot forehead with a damp towel. "We need to lower his body temperature and clean those wounds."

Gwen had already started to unwrap the new medical supplies. "How did those Black Hawk Internationalpeople find the safe house? We were very careful."

"I'm not sure," Lynn admitted. "Perhaps their technology is more advanced than we thought, or there's an inside informant. Regardless, we can't go back there now."

"Then where do we go?" Ethan asked, his voice anxious. "Bruce needs a stable environment and medical care."

Lynn thought for a moment. "I have a backup safe location, but it's a bit of a distance from here. We need a mode of transportation that won't attract attention."

"I have an idea," Gwen said, pulling out her phone. "I know someone who works for a freight company. Maybe he can help us arrange an inconspicuous vehicle."

"Is he reliable?" Lynn asked.

Gwen nodded. "Very. I helped him with some… technical issues. He owes me a favor."

Lynn agreed, and Gwen started making the call. Meanwhile, Lynn and Ethan continued to care for Banner, cleaning his wounds and trying to lower his body temperature. Banner was sometimes clear-headed, sometimes delirious, mumbling in a semi-conscious state, mostly fragments about experiments and calculations, and occasionally mentioning a woman's name—Betty.

"Who is Betty?" Ethan whispered to Lynn.

Lynn shook his head. "Not sure. Maybe his girlfriend or wife? There's very little information about Banner's personal life."

About half an hour later, Gwen returned, a relieved expression on her face. "It's done. A cargo van, unmarked, will be waiting for us in the back alley in fifteen minutes. The driver is my friend's cousin; he won't ask questions."

Lynn nodded. "Good. Let's get ready. How's Bruce?"

Ethan looked at Banner. "The fever reducer seems to be starting to work; his temperature is going down. But he's still very weak."

Lynn checked Banner's pulse and breathing. "Yes, his condition has improved, but we need to continue monitoring. Can you walk, Bruce?"

Banner slightly opened his eyes, his consciousness seeming clearer. "I can… try."

Lynn and Ethan carefully helped Banner up, testing his ability to stand. He was able to stand but clearly needed support.

"We'll help you," Lynn reassured him. "Just hold on for a little while, and then you can rest in the car."

Banner weakly nodded. "Thank you… for taking such a risk."

"This isn't just for you, Bruce," Gwen said softly. "This is for the truth, to stop Black Hawk International's conspiracy."

Banner managed a faint smile. "Thanks anyway."

Fifteen minutes later, as Gwen had said, a gray cargo van pulled into the alley behind the warehouse. Gwen briefly explained the situation to the driver—they needed to discreetly transport a "sick friend." The driver was a young man, clearly curious about the whole situation, but as Gwen had promised, he didn't ask any questions.

They carefully helped Banner into the van, preparing a relatively comfortable spot for him in the back, using blankets and backpacks as a makeshift bed. Gwen and Ethan sat beside him, continuing to care for him, while Lynn sat in the front passenger seat, directing the driver to a remote location in the Bronx—his backup safe house.

"You got out just in time," the driver said amiably, trying to break the silence. "The Police seem to be searching the entire area, as if they're looking for some dangerous person."

Lynn remained vigilant but spoke in a relaxed tone. "Oh really? What happened?"

The driver shrugged. "Not entirely sure. Someone reported seeing suspicious armed individuals, but it might just be a false alarm. The atmosphere in the city has been tense lately, especially after that Hulk incident."

Lynn nodded, while observing Banner's reaction through the rearview mirror. Banner showed no signs, seeming to hover between semi-sleep and wakefulness.

"By the way, I heard there's a big news story breaking, about a company called Black Hawk International?" the driver continued to chat. "They're supposedly conducting some terrible experiments? Do you know anything about it?"

Lynn maintained a neutral expression. "Only what the news reports. It certainly sounds serious, if it's true."

Chapter 337 Surrender and end it all

The driver nodded. "Yeah, it's scary. This World is getting crazier and crazier. First superheroes, then monsters, and now secret human experiments. It's like a sci-fi movie."

Lynn didn't respond, turning to look out the window instead.

By the time they finally reached the alternate safe house—a converted apartment in an old industrial zone—it was completely dark. The driver helped them bring Bannerinto the apartment, then left, still asking no questions, which brought a slight relief to Lynn.

This alternate safe house was much smaller than the previous one, with only basic living facilities, but it was secluded enough to provide temporary refuge. Lynnquickly set up basic security measures, while Gwen and Ethan continued to care for Banner, preparing a comfortable resting place for him on the apartment's only bed.

The night in Bronx was much quieter than Manhattan, far from the city's hustle and bustle, with only the occasional siren and the distant rumble of factories breaking the silence. The alternate safe house was located in an old industrial-converted apartment, with heavy curtains covering the windows, keeping out external light and prying eyes.

Lynn leaned by the window, carefully parting the curtains a crack to observe the street outside. So far, everything seemed calm, with no suspicious vehicles or individuals. He turned to look inside the room: Gwen and Ethan sat around a makeshift folding table, discussing something in low voices, while Banner lay on the only bed, seemingly having fallen into an uneasy sleep.

"How is he?" Lynn walked towards Gwen and Ethan, asking softly.

Gwen looked up, her face etched with fatigue and worry. "His temperature has stabilized, but he's still very weak. The wound shows no signs of worsening, so that's good news."

"He needs more rest and nutrition," Ethan added. "But considering the environmental conditions, I think he's recovering quite well."

Lynn nodded, sitting down opposite them. "We need to plan our next step. Black Hawk International has already found our previous safe house; it's only a matter of time before they start looking for a new hiding place."

"How do you think they found us?" Ethan asked, his brow furrowed.

Lynn pondered for a moment. "There are many possibilities. Perhaps their technology is more advanced than we imagined, or they have informants within the FBI, or it's some kind of tracking device we didn't notice." He looked at Gwen. "Can you check our equipment? Make sure nothing has been hacked or had a tracker installed?"

Gwen nodded and immediately began checking their phones and computers. Just then, Lynn's FBI-issued phone suddenly vibrated. The three exchanged a wary glance, and Lynn carefully took out his phone, seeing an official number from the Manhattan branch.

"Hall," he answered the phone, his voice calm and professional.

"Lynn, it's Samantha," a female voice came from the other end of the line, sounding urgent and serious. Samantha Diaz was the Manhattan branch's coordinator, responsible for assigning Agent tasks. "We have an emergency here; we need you to return to headquarters immediately."

Lynn's intuition immediately sounded an alarm. While emergency recalls were not uncommon, the timing was too coincidental. "What emergency?" he asked, his voice still calm, but already on high alert.

"A sudden situation related to national security," Samantha replied, her tone professional and urgent. "Director requires all senior Agents to be present immediately. Details cannot be disclosed over the phone; you know the procedure."

Lynn noticed Gwen and Ethan looking at him nervously; he gestured to them, indicating there might be a problem. "I understand," he said into the phone. "I'm conducting a private investigation outside the city and will take about an hour to reach headquarters."

"As soon as possible, Lynn," Samantha emphasized. "This is top priority."

"Understood," Lynn replied briefly, then hung up the phone.

"What's wrong?" Gwen immediately asked, her voice tinged with worry.

Lynn's expression turned serious. "The Manhattan branch recalled me, saying there's an emergency."

"Do you think it's a trap?" Ethan asked sharply.

Lynn nodded. "Most likely. Samantha's tone and wording were standard, but a few small details were off. First, she didn't use the day's security confirmation word, which is mandatory in a real emergency. Second, she mentioned 'Director requires all senior Agents,' but Samantha usually wouldn't use such a vague phrase; she'd be more specific."

Gwen's eyes widened. "If it's a trap set by Black Hawk International, then they might have infiltrated the FBI system, or coerced Samantha."

"Or just imitated her voice," Lynn mused. "Voice replication technology is quite advanced now."

Ethan looked worried. "So what do we do now? If they've already tracked this location..."

Lynn raised his hand, signaling for calm. "Let's not jump to conclusions. They might just be trying to bait me out, to see if I'll show up." He stood up and began pacing in the small space, thinking of a countermeasure. Suddenly, he stopped, as if something had occurred to him.

"I need to confirm if this is truly a trap, without exposing our location." Lynn took out another phone, a prepaid one that couldn't be traced to him. "I have an idea."

He dialed a number, and the call was answered quickly. "Mark, it's me, Lynn."

A young male voice came from the other end, sounding a bit surprised. "Lynn? Why are you using this number? What's going on?"

Mark Rodriguez was Lynn's assistant at the FBI, a young but very talented Agent, and one of the few colleagues Lynn fully trusted.

"Mark, listen, I need your help, but it needs to be confidential," Lynn said seriously. "Is there any emergency recall at the branch tonight?"

Mark paused, seemingly thinking. "No, at least I haven't received any notification. The office is almost empty now, only the on-duty staff. What's wrong?"

Lynn exchanged a meaningful glance with Gwen and Ethan. "I just received a call from Samantha; she said there's an emergency requiring me to return to headquarters immediately."

"What? That's impossible," Mark immediately responded, his voice full of confusion. "Samantha left earlier today; she went to Washington for a meeting and won't be back until the day after tomorrow. Who called you?"

Lynn's suspicions were confirmed. "Just as I thought. Mark, I need you to do something, but it might be a bit dangerous. Are you willing to help me?"

"Of course," Mark replied without hesitation. "What do you need me to do?"

Lynn took a deep breath. "I need you to walk around the streets near the office and see if there are any suspicious people or vehicles on surveillance. Especially black SUVs or vans, possibly with people in black tactical gear inside. But be very careful, don't act like you're searching for anything. Just like you're going out for coffee or lunch."

"Understood," Mark said, his voice becoming serious. "This is related to that 'Federal Investigation Special Unit' leak, right? The one about Black Hawk International?"

Lynn hesitated, but decided to be honest with Mark. "Yes, it's related to that. But I can't disclose more right now, for your safety."

"I get it," Mark responded. "Give me twenty minutes; I'll call you back."

After hanging up, Lynn turned to Gwen and Ethan. "Now we're certain it's a trap. Black Hawk Internationalprobably knows my identity and is trying to lure me out."

Gwen's face turned pale. "If they know who you are, then finding me and Ethan is only a matter of time."

"Not necessarily," Lynn tried to reassure her. "They might have only discovered that I was involved in saving Banner, but not necessarily your identities. We were very careful when releasing the information, leaving no traceable Marks."

Ethan looked worried. "But if they have insiders, or high-level government connections..."

Lynn didn't directly answer Ethan's concern, knowing it was a reasonable fear. Black Hawk International's influence was clearly much greater than they had initially imagined. He glanced at Banner, who was still asleep, then turned back to Gwen and Ethan.

"We need a more comprehensive plan," he said. "Not just how to protect Banner, but also how to completely expose Black Hawk International's conspiracy and prevent them from continuing to pursue Banner."

Gwen nodded, opening her laptop. "I've been thinking about this. Our first leak attracted widespread attention, but Black Hawk International clearly has enough influence to control some of the public opinion. We need more direct, more powerful evidence."

"Such as?" Lynn asked.

Gwen's eyes sparkled. "Such as Banner's own testimony, combined with all the evidence we've collected. A complete, undeniable case, delivered directly to the highest levels of government officials and the media."

Ethan looked somewhat hesitant. "But that means Banner would have to appear publicly, which would make him a target for everyone."

"Not necessarily a live appearance," Gwen explained. "We can record his testimony and provide all the evidence documents simultaneously. The key is to ensure this information reaches multiple high-level recipients at the same time, so Black Hawk International can't block it all."

Lynn thought for a moment. "This might be our best option. But first, we need to make sure Banner is willing to do this and is in good enough physical condition."

Just then, Lynn's prepaid phone rang again; it was Markcalling back.

"Lynn," Mark's voice sounded tense and urgent. "You were right. There are at least two black SUVs patrolling around the branch, and the people inside don't look like FBI. They're all wearing black tactical gear, with no insignia. There's also an observation point set up in the coffee shop across the street, with two people constantly watching the building's entrance."

Lynn's expression turned serious. "Are you sure they're not regular federal Agents or security personnel?"

"Absolutely not," Mark said firmly. "I know everyone in the branch; these guys are unfamiliar faces. And their behavior pattern is strange; it's not like a regular security patrol. They're focused on surveillance, not protection."

"Were you noticed?" Lynn asked, concerned for Mark's safety.

"I don't think so," Mark replied. "I pretended to go out for food, then walked casually around the block. I observed them carefully, but without direct stares or contact."

Lynn breathed a sigh of relief. "Good job, Mark. Now I need you to go somewhere safe; don't go back to the office, and don't go home. Find a public place, like a 24-hour restaurant or a hotel lobby, and stay there for a while. Make sure no one is following you."

"Understood," Mark said. "But Lynn, what exactly is going on? Who are these people? Why are they monitoring the FBI branch?"

Lynn hesitated. "Black Hawk International. They are far more dangerous than we imagined. Mark, listen, for your safety, I can't tell you more right now. Just keep a low profile and avoid drawing attention. I'll contact you as soon as possible."

"Okay, I'll be careful. You too, Lynn." Mark said, then hung up.

Lynn put down his phone and looked at Gwen and Ethan. "Confirmed, Black Hawk International Agents are monitoring the FBI branch, waiting for me to take the bait."

Gwen looked even more worried. "This is terrifying. They dare to directly monitor a federal agency?"

"This indicates strong support within the government," Lynn said seriously. "Possibly from high levels. Otherwise, they wouldn't be so bold."

Ethan frowned. "But this also gives us an opportunity. If they think you'll return to the branch, then their attention will be focused there, not on finding our current location."

Lynn nodded. "That's right, it gives us some breathing room. But I'm worried about Mark's safety. If they realize he's helping me..."

"I can try to warn him through a secure channel," Gwensuggested. "Set up an untraceable communication line."

Just then, there was a slight movement on the bed, and Banner slowly opened his eyes. The three immediately turned to him, and Lynn quickly walked to the bedside.

"Dr. Banner, how do you feel?" Lynn asked, his voice filled with genuine concern.

Banner tried to sit up, and Lynn carefully helped him lean against the headboard. Banner's complexion was much better than before, but his eyes still showed fatigue.

"Much better, thank you," Banner said weakly. "I overheard some of your conversation. Black Hawk International found you?"

Lynn briefly explained the current situation, including the fake phone call and Mark's discovery of the surveillance. After listening, Banner's expression changed from worry to determination.

"This is my fault," he said. "I've dragged you all into danger. Maybe I should turn myself in and end all of this."

"No," Ethan immediately objected. "That's exactly what they want. If they capture you, they'll not only continue their experiments but also cover up all the truth."

Banner shook his head wearily. "But I can't let you all keep risking yourselves. Especially Lynn, your career and life are in danger."

Chapter 338 "Emerald Fist" Project

Lynn looked at Banner with determination, "Dr., this is no longer just about you. This is about exposing a conspiracy that could threaten national security. If Black Hawk International succeeds in replicating your abilities, imagine the consequences. A private army of Hulk-like warriors? No one would be able to stop them."

Banner was silent for a moment, processing the information. Then he looked up, a new resolve shining in his eyes, "You're right. I can't keep running. If my testimony can help expose the truth, I'm willing to cooperate."

Gwen smiled and leaned forward, "We're discussing a plan to record your testimony and send it, along with all the evidence, to multiple high-level recipients. That way, Black Hawk International won't be able to completely suppress it."

Banner nodded, "That sounds like a good plan. But we need to make sure the evidence is strong enough not to be easily questioned or denied."

"Regarding that," Ethan said, pulling out his laptop, "I've been compiling my findings, including all timelines, photos, witness reports, and documents obtained from inside Black Hawk International. Gwen helped me decrypt more encrypted files, and we now have a fairly complete overview of the 'Emerald Fist' project."

Banner looked surprised, "You've already done so much?"

Gwen smiled slightly, "We've been tracking Black Hawk International and Hulk for a long time, Dr.. You're not fighting alone."

A touch of emotion flashed across Banner's face, then he sat up straight, seemingly invigorated, "Then, let's begin. I'll tell you everything about the gamma radiation experiment, the accident, and everything that happened afterward. The full story, with no holding back."

Lynn nodded, but raised a hand to signal a wait, "Before we begin, I need to confirm one thing. Mark said Black Hawk International Agents are monitoring the FBI branch, but they might also be searching other parts of the city. We need to ensure this location is secure."

He walked to the window, carefully parting a corner of the curtain again to observe the street outside. The street was still quiet, with no suspicious vehicles or individuals. But Lynn knew that this calm might only be temporary. Black Hawk International would not give up easily, especially now that they knew Banner had received help.

"We need more intelligence," Lynn said thoughtfully, "We need to know Black Hawk International's plans and operations. Know yourself and your enemy, and you will never be defeated."

Ethan frowned, "But our resources are limited, and we can't move freely without being detected."

A glint of determination flashed in Lynn's eyes, "I might have an idea. Mark can be our eyes and ears, but I don't want to put him in greater danger." He turned to Gwen, "Can you set up a secure communication network? So Mark can safely transmit information to us without revealing his identity or location?"

Gwen thought for a moment, "Yes, I can set up a multi-layered encryption system that routes information through multiple servers. If done correctly, even Black Hawk International's technical personnel would have difficulty tracing it."

"Then let's get started," Lynn said, then turned to Banner, "Meanwhile, Dr., we need your full testimony. From the beginning, tell us about the experiment, the accident, and how Black Hawk International found you. Every detail could be important."

Banner took a deep breath, nodded, "Okay, I'll tell you everything. But it's a long story."

Ethan had already prepared the recording equipment and notebook, "We have plenty of time, Dr.. Please begin."

Banner closed his eyes, seemingly organizing his thoughts, recalling those painful but important memories. When he opened his eyes again, he began his narration.

"It all began with the gamma radiation research project. It was a Military-funded project aimed at studying how to enable soldiers to resist radiation damage."

Ethan diligently recorded every detail, occasionally asking questions to clarify certain points. Gwen listened while continuing to work on her computer, setting up the secure communication system. Lynn occasionally checked the situation outside the window, ensuring they were still safe.

As Banner spoke about how Black Hawk Internationalconducted experiments on innocent civilians, the atmosphere in the room became exceptionally heavy. He described a secret facility he had stumbled upon, where dozens of "volunteers" were held—mostly people from the bottom of society or the homeless, who were promised high rewards to participate in the experiments, unaware of the true risks.

"Those experiments… almost all failed," Banner's voice was low, his eyes filled with pain, "I saw the records. Most subjects died after being injected with modified gamma serum, or turned into something indescribable. Only a very few showed some limited ability enhancement, but their lifespan was significantly shortened, and their minds gradually collapsed."

Lynn's expression grew more serious, "Do you have copies of these records?"

Banner shook his head regretfully, "No. At the time, I could only quickly browse, and then I was discovered and had to flee. But I remember the facility's location and general layout. In the New Mexico Desert, ostensibly a private research institution."

Ethan quickly jotted down this information, "This is a crucial clue. If we can prove the existence of this facility and its true purpose, it will be a major breakthrough."

Gwen looked up from her computer, "I might be able to search for relevant satellite imagery or land records. If this is a large facility, there should be some traces."

Lynn nodded, then looked at Banner, "There's one more thing I've always wanted to ask: How did Black Hawk International know your identity? How did you remain anonymous for so long?"

Banner sighed, "It's a complex question. Initially, only a few people knew I was Hulk—my ex-girlfriend BettyRoss, her father General Ross, and a few scientists directly involved in the experiment. General Ross initially led the Military hunt for me, but later, Black Hawk International seemed to take over the task. I suspect it's because they offered more advanced technology and more resources. As for how I remained anonymous, I constantly moved, changed my appearance, avoided cameras, used aliases, and lived in a cash economy. It's not an ideal way of life, but it kept me and those around me safe."

Lynn pondered this information, "So General Ross might be the key link between Black Hawk International and the Military."

Banner nodded, "Most likely. But I'm not sure he fully understands Black Hawk International's true intentions. He always believed that capturing me was for national security, not to replicate my abilities and create a super-soldier army."

Just then, Gwen's computer emitted a notification sound. "The secure communication system has been set up," she announced, "Now we can safely contact Mark, and also begin preparing to release Banner's testimony."

Lynn walked over to Gwen and glanced at her screen, which displayed complex encryption protocols and routing paths. "Well done," he praised, then turned to the whole team, "Next, we need to formulate a more detailed plan. Not just to release the information, but also to consider how to respond to Black Hawk International's possible reactions, and our own safety."

Banner looked hesitant for a moment, "There's one thing I need to warn you about. If I feel extreme pressure or danger, I might transform again. I don't want to hurt anyone, especially you… my friends."

Lynn looked at Banner seriously, "We understand the risks, Dr.. But we also believe that even in that state, you wouldn't intentionally harm innocents. Evidence suggests that Hulk has a certain degree of discernment, at least to some extent."

Banner looked unconvinced, but nodded, seemingly grateful for Lynn's trust.

Gwen completed the secure connection with Mark, sending a short message telling him how to use the system. A few minutes later, they received a reply.

"Lynn, I'm safe, currently at a friend's house. Surveillance is still ongoing, and the number of men in black around the FBI branch has increased. They seem to be waiting for something. I heard rumors in the office that you've been assigned a special mission that requires you to be offline for a while. This is clearly a pretext to cover your absence. One more thing: someone is checking records of recent visits to our database, especially searches for 'Emerald Fist' and 'Black Hawk International'. I guess they're looking for traces of an internal leak. Be careful, I'll continue to monitor the situation and report."

Lynn's expression grew more serious after reading the message. "The situation is more complex than we imagined," he told the others, "Black Hawk Internationalmay have already started looking for so-called 'leakers' within the FBI. This means they are not just pursuing Banner, but also actively looking for the person who released the exposé."

Gwen looked worried, "Then we must act quickly. Every day we delay, the risk increases."

Ethan nodded, "I agree. We already have Banner's testimony, and a lot of evidence. It's time to prepare the final exposé."

Lynn thought for a moment, then made a decision, "Alright, we'll start preparing tonight. The goal is to complete all preparations within 24 hours, and then simultaneously release the information to multiple channels: major media, members of Congress, high-ranking officials in the Department of Justice, and even international organizations. Once the information is public, Black Hawk International will not be able to completely block or deny it."

Banner looked both nervous and determined, "I'm ready. Whatever the consequences, the truth must be revealed."

Washington, D.C., 3:27 AM.

Most offices in the FBI Headquarters building were already dark, with only security lights casting a faint glow in the corridors. However, in a corner office on the top floor, the lights were still bright. Director RobertHenderson—a seasoned official who had spent three decades in law enforcement—sat at his desk, a deep look of worry on his face.

The computer screen in front of him displayed an encrypted document titled "Black Hawk InternationalInvestigation: Top Secret." This document had just been sent to his encrypted email ten minutes ago, with the sender marked as "Federal Investigation Special Task Force." Director Henderson was unaware of such a task force within the FBI, which raised his alarm and curiosity.

As he delved deeper into the document's content, his expression gradually shifted from suspicion to shock, and finally to deep concern. The document detailed how a private Military contractor named Black Hawk International conducted illegal human experiments, intending to replicate the abilities of a super-powered individual known as "Hulk." Even more unsettling, the document provided extensive evidence suggesting that this organization had powerful supporters in high levels of government.

There was also a video recording showing a man identifying himself as Bruce Banner—allegedly the scientist capable of transforming into Hulk—providing detailed testimony. Banner described the experiment accident, the subsequent continuous pursuit by Black Hawk International, and the terrifying details of the "Emerald Fist" project he had witnessed.

Director Henderson took off his glasses and rubbed his tired eyes. As an experienced investigator, he could judge the authenticity of evidence, and these materials looked disturbingly real. If true, this would be a major scandal involving national security and human rights.

He picked up the encrypted phone on his desk and dialed a number known to only a few people.

"Michelle, it's me, Henderson," his voice was low and urgent, "I need you to immediately check if we have an Agent named Lynn Hall at our Manhattan branch. Full background, but keep it confidential, don't go through normal channels."

The female voice on the other end responded a few words, and Henderson continued: "Also, check if there are any internal records or memos about a 'Federal Investigation Special Task Force' recently. I suspect this might be an unauthorized operation."

After hanging up, Director Henderson continued to read the evidence in the document. There were photos showing a secret facility hidden in the New MexicoDesert, documents obtained from inside Black Hawk International describing the details of the "Emerald Fist" project, and testimonies from multiple witnesses describing suspicious activities seen in cities like New York.

Particularly striking was an audio recording of Black Hawk International's high-ranking officials discussing how to use government connections to cover up their activities. The recording mentioned several code names, but no specific names, yet it hinted at an unsettlingly high level of official involvement.

Just as Henderson was deep in thought, his encrypted phone vibrated.

"Henderson," he answered curtly.

"Director, I found Lynn Hall's information," Michelle's voice came through, "He's a senior Agent at the Manhattan branch, specializing in counter-terrorism and high-tech crime. Military background, excellent service record, received multiple commendations."

Henderson nodded, though it couldn't be seen on the other end of the phone, "Any disciplinary issues or unusual records?"

"No disciplinary issues, but one strange thing: the system shows he is currently on a special mission that requires him to be offline for a while. But this mission has no official authorization record, and the mission description is unusually vague."

Henderson's brow furrowed even deeper, "Who authorized it?"
