I extend my hand toward the demon infantry closest to me. It is approaching in a rage, driving its spear ahead as though to break through stone. Banishment activates, and it vanishes, spear and all.
A weight seems to fall onto my shoulders. A wave of lethargy overcomes me.
"Stay focused!"
Another one is making a beeline for me. I'm too tired to do anything.
A bolt of lightning impales the demon, moments before its spear had done the same to me. It seems I can thank the magician for this.
The other two adventurers have flanked the demons engaged by the warriors and disabled their legs. The battle is all but won.
After a few more minutes of combat, the remaining threats are no more.
The lethargy passes.
We make our belated introductions. The adventurers are from different parties, but they were able to work well together by following a standard playbook. I let them know of their location, and the guild's call for all hands.
They begin their return to the guild.
A spear lies on the ground. It was the one separated from the first demon infantry. On a whim, or maybe recalling my first encounter with Madame Leather, I collect the spear, and continue to the next destination.
